Our commitment
Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

Goodnotes FAQs
Q. What is Goodnotes used for?
Goodnotes is a cloud-based note-taking platform available on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, Android, Windows, and web, with offline access and cross-device sync via iCloud or cloud. Used by over 25 million people monthly, it consolidates handwritten notes with natural digital ink, PDF annotation and markup, infinite-canvas whiteboards, block-based text documents, and audio recording with transcription into a single workspace. Real-time collaboration, customizable toolbars, password-protected notebooks, and an in-app Marketplace for templates and digital stationery round out the core feature set. Teams and Enterprise plans add an admin console, MDM integration, and advanced compliance and security controls for organizations of 25 or more seats. The platform integrates an AI assistant that operates across handwriting, typed text, sketches, diagrams, and audio. On-device capabilities, powered by proprietary machine learning, include handwriting spellcheck, handwriting reflow, word completion, and AI Math with step-by-step equation solving, all processed locally with no external data transmission. Cloud-powered AI features, backed by an external large language model, support Q&A against personal notes with source-page citations, quiz generation, meeting transcription with live summaries, audio transcription with summary regeneration, AI-assisted text editing (paraphrase, summarize, grammar and spelling correction), and AI image and diagram generation in multiple styles with editable outputs. Goodnotes serves a broad range of markets: individual students, professionals, and creatives; K-12 schools (available free with no trial period or hidden fees); and businesses across education, healthcare, architecture, construction, and general professional services. Multi-level collapsible outlines for notebooks and PDFs, shapes and diagram tools with connectors and flowcharts, searchable handwritten annotations, Google Calendar integration, and private and public link sharing support structured workflows at any scale.
