The most straightforward PDF software.

Reviewed a month ago

The easiest to use however it's expensive.

Pros

It's really easy to use. It converts PDFs to other formats e.g. .doc files really quickly and easily. It's easy to add text on the PDF.

Cons

Quite expensive, especially if you want to use just Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Good software to maneuver any pdf file

Reviewed 4 years ago

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC save my business time need to convert docs across formats and put an extra layer of security on the documents. It is somewhat cheap to afford too.

Pros

I like Adobe Acrobat Reader DC for many reasons but the reasons below are my best 1. Easy of export to other formats. I think the export is more of conversion to other formats 2. I like the fact that I am able to use Adobe Acrobat Reader DC to view my PDF docs even when the license has expired. 3. Before Adobe Acrobat Reader DC was introduced editing PDF file was very difficult for me. I like the fact that I am able to maneuver the PDF files. I can Edit text and image, Merge and delete pages, rearrange and even put a signature on documents. 4. I also like the security feature that comes with it because it restrict access to my pdf when I dont want people to access it.

Cons

1. I dont like the recent integration of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC with Adobe creative cloud it makes setting up and purchase of the software difficult. 2. The customer support is not superb too.

Necessary for Professionals

Reviewed 4 years ago

My business entails the frequent filling of forms—be it reports, grant requests, progress notes, or the odd document that someone has photographed on their 2010 model camera phone and sent through an MMS message. I have gone from filling these out by hand, to trying to recreate the documents in a word processor so that I could type in my responses, to using word processing software and older products to create Text boxes that could then be filled in. I cannot overstate the amount of time saved by using DC, both in creating and filling in forms. Adobe solved a problem that I had for years. The solution is well worth the price. I feel certain that there are products that do similar things. However, I have yet to have had a reason to consider trying anything but DC.

Pros

This software does just about everything that the word processing software products are not able to do. It is next to impossible to narrow down a single feature as my favorite. If pressed, though, I would have to go with the form creation capabilities of DC. This is a bonus on two fronts. First, Adobe has mastered their trade when it comes to recognizing potential form fields in existing documents....

Cons

This software does exactly what I need it to do and more. The market is filled with word processing software products that fulfill that need, and Adobe does not claim to go up against them with DC. However, there are times when using DC that I have wished that some of the commands that have been available to me for ages in other brands’ software on the word processing side were available in DC.

User friendly with large pdf file, easy to handle

Reviewed 4 years ago

I have been using several pdf readers for a couple of years, when it comes to open a large file I never have seen any other option then adobe acrobat reader. At first, it takes time to open, it’s not an ideal part for me, but when it runs I can not complain about its service. The interface of this software is user friendly, I can find every in my hand when I use it. In the past, when I work for too long, I forgot to save my works, sometimes software crashes. So my advice to save your work-time to time, unless you may lose some of your work.

Pros

Though it takes some time to start in the first place, it can open both large and small files at ease, I can easily operate it not like other pdf readers. Zoom feature is user-friendly and it’s too easy for me to operate. Text editing is another thing I often use to edit my documents. In large file, page rotation is taking very low time in acrobat reader, I mean I can do this in no time. Just like other pdf readers, I can use pdf exporting, margin, editing, organizing, etc with minimum effort.

Cons

Waiting-part! When I open a small or large file it takes too much time to open, they need to make it quick. When I work for too long sometimes it crushes also.

INCREDIBLE product if you have the license

Reviewed 4 years ago

My overall experience using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is great, as long as I have the license. I find myself very frustrated when I need to edit or change the orientation of a PDF file and find that my license has expired or I need to renew my account. My overall opinion is to purchase this product when it's a part of a bundle of other software. I have the Creative Cloud package that includes plenty of design, photography and videography editing software.

Pros

This software is not only easy to use, but the number of options you have are almost endless. I love this software specifically for editing ability on PDFs. If you are stuck with only a PDF file, you are able to convert to a Word document, a JPEG or PNG image, even an Excel file. But not only that, you are able to access and fill Forms and Certificates, Share files for comparing, stamping or comments,...

Cons

The biggest con regarding this software is the price and license required to use it. If you don't pay for this specific software or a package that involves it, then you are unable to use any of the features. Most of the features available on this software are really beneficial for anyone in business to use. You are able to sign documents, auto-fill, combine PDFs, edit and change PDFs, compare files, send them for comments and so much more. These options are very important for all aspects of business, and it can become very irritating when you lose the license or don't have it. I haven't found any similar product for free or less money.

Must have for anyone who work with documents!

Reviewed 4 years ago

Not sure how business can function without Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. It essential for us to manage and create PDF documents. Definitely a must-have!

Pros

It's an essential software needed for documents. Here are a few I find the most useful: 1. I prepare a lot of documents with form fields in Microsoft Word first and convert them into PDF. Using the Prepare Form tool which automatically detects form fields and puts text fields is such a helpful feature and such a time saver. Feels like an auto form-fill creator. I can't imagine spending time manually...

Cons

1. There are times it glitches/freezes/crashes, but not often 2. The most irritating thing for me when using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is when I'm trying to set the zoom level for multiple bookmarks. For some reason, you need to select each individual bookmark and manually select the zoom level. There should be a feature where sets the zoom level for all bookmarks to be the same. Or be able to select all bookmarks and set the zoom level. I've seen plugins where you can buy at a hefty price to do this feature. But I don't understand why it isn't built into the system already.

Getting better by the month

Reviewed 4 years ago

VERY easy to use, extremely handy program that works on many platforms, ie. PC, Mac, mobile phone - Android and iPhone. Even though I only personally use it for quite basic operations, I'm sure that someone in an office environment, such as accounting or administration and most certainly, the graphics type industries, would find Adobe Reader DC very useful and user-friendly indeed.

Pros

Easy to use Fill and Sign function allowing tiff or jpeg files of your signature to be added and are then legal. Companies that send you editable PDFs allow for quick filling in of forms and returning them. So many programs now offer 'Save as PDF' so this program will quickly open them for you to browse/edit. When saving to PDF in pro version (I believe) you can save with Password Protection which you then send to only the person you wish to view the document. This adds quite a good level of security for sensitive documents. The icon sub menu is quite good also with features such as Print, Save to Adobe Document Cloud, Find Text (magnifying glass), Add Sticky Note, Highlight Text, Add Sticky Note, Sign and Edit Text. Clicking on the Tools menu offers you even more.

Cons

When using on older computers, the opening and scrolling times can be quite long. It's yet another in the growing list of programs that offer you the option of Saving to the 'Cloud'. So unless you are totally fine with submitting your documents to a server somewhere ... anywhere ... in the world that you (probably) don't know where it actually is, then go for it. I personally use my own storage space which is getting cheaper by the day, value-for-capacity wise.

Highest Quality PDF Software, But Pricey!

Reviewed 5 years ago

I have been using Acrobat for years now. There are many uses for the software and it's hands down the best on the market. I've tried other PDF software, but they no where near compare to Acrobat in terms of functionality nor quality. I use it for everything from printing thermal shipping labels, editing PDFs, scanning documents and converting to OCR, and signing documents. The possibilities really are endless.

Pros

My absolute most favorite thing about Adobe Acrobat is the OCR scan function. I use my desktop scanner to scan in documents and the OCR function is able to accurately convert the document into readable, searchable, and editable text. I scan probably 2,000 pages of documents every month, so this definitely comes in handy when I want to go back later and find a particular document by searching for a couple keywords or particular content. Another one of my favorite things is the ability to edit any PDF. I can remove text/images, combine documents, sign pages, etc.

Cons

I have the professional version of Acrobat, so it does get a bit pricey. Adobe now gives you access to the software by charging a flat monthly or annual rate for a 1-year license. Previously, you could just buy the software outright. The only benefit to paying for an annual license is that you never have to worry about the software being outdated or bug-ridden. With Acrobat being the best PDF software on the market, I sort of see the cost-factor as something that's practically inevitable.

Best PDF Reader all around

Reviewed 5 years ago

Overall this is a wonderful product which has everything a daily basic user needs to read a pdf file. Thouhg there are other pdf readers out there, I would recommend this as a first option to anyone.

Pros

Acrobat reader is one of the most used pdf reader in the industry. Adobe is a great company and their product is of top tier. Best feature is that you can get the acrobat reader for free and start reading pdf documents at once. It is very easy to use and I can zoom in and out at ease without compromising the quality of the text and readability. Though we do not have the full version I can still highlight...

Cons

The biggest feature I do not like about acrobat on the free version is that I cannot re save the document on top of the old one and overwrite it. I always have to save it as a new filename and go back the delete the old copy. It is a small price to pay for the features but it does become annoying. Besides that in the premium version acrobat reader does not have the option to compress files so the size can be decreased. It becomes an issue when there are too many graphical images on the file and it becomes too big to email and share among peers.

Provide lots of features within different pricing options including the free version

Reviewed 5 years ago

In overall, this program gets the job done with small effort. You have flexibility to edit pdf files (this is a must for pdf readers). You can save to your hard drive or into cloud. IOS and Android support is a great plus. The interface is quite simple (I would prefer more customized tab orientation; but this is also fine) Rarely it slows down or clashes (mainly on IOS platform; but also Windows) and sync issues might be happening. But I thing these do not shadowing the overall performance. Adobe Reader DC is one of the must-to-have software in your computer or mobile device.

Pros

I like a couple of key features with Adobe Reader DC. Well, firstly fill & sign feature is a great and interesting addition. When you click, you are asked to open a file (with mobile version even you can take a photo of the form and start after creating pdf file) and then you can add any note, name, date and your own signature. Signature can be drawn, or selected from the available template. This is...

Cons

There are really not much to list; but one thing is really frustrating. You cannot add a tab or tool bar on the menu. In order to use the tools such as edit pdf or fill & sign, you have to open a separate function tab and than it asks you to open a file or let you make additional edits. If you want to do several operations, this really makes you tempered time to time. However colorful tool page somehow causes myself to calm down. As called acrobat reader, this is unique to .pdf formats and so other file types are limited. Rarely it cashes or slows down - may be sourced by your device or connection as well. On mobile version it slows down a lot if you open or edit big files.

Free, effective and in continuous improvement

Reviewed 6 years ago

A considerable saving of money, for a limited budget. Do not worry about operating systems and compatibility. Files are distributed and shared easily and quickly. In the future, adopting a more complete workflow based on PDF will be easier and more convenient.

Pros

Acrobat Reader has always been a software that has aroused mixed feelings among users: performance, usabilitity and capabilities. Adobe knows this and, although not in a hurry, has been implementing improvements. In the case of Reader DC, definitely, the main improvement has been the user interface, where a nice dark gray predominates that does not strain your eyes and allows you to focus your attention...

Cons

You can not edit documents in the free version. Although the cost of subscriptions has become more accessible, the advanced options are still paid (it should not surprise anyone), but each day that passes is worth paying for them. While it is true that they have advanced with the user interface, it seems that with the usability of it not so much. Many tasks are carried out in an unintuitive way, and with the inclusion of new functionalities this problem tends to grow.

Excellent for Official and personal purposes (About the core version 19.2048)

Reviewed 6 years ago

I would definitely recommend this to others as it makes the work easier to an extent. :)

Pros

These days , most of the files and documents are shared in the PDF formats which is easier to share, especially via email. As an online tutor and a teacher by profession I have a lots of PDF study materials to be used on a daily basis. The customized Zoom level option helps to view the document in the actual size preferred by the user. The customized Page number option helps to type in the page...

Cons

1. The trial version and full version is way too different with the options. (Covert to .doc / Edit PDF etc ) are not allowed in the trial version. 2. The price for a month is too high. 3. At times opening a large PDF file ( in my case Books with a 300 pages ) makes the software respond slower.

Acrobat Reader DC - connecting people, ideas and projects

Reviewed 6 years ago

I work with an international team, sharing documents over the Internet on a daily basis, therefore Acrobat Reader DC and Adobe Acrobat is a MUST for us. It is an easy to use tool everybody can understand and work with immediatley. I am also wroking with Adobe Acrobat for creating and editing documents, formulars, etc.

Pros

Acrobat Reader DC is a standard for sharing Documents with people all over the world. It is a free software everybody can download in the Internet to open PDF-Documents. It is the original and still for me the easiest way to share informations, contracts, illustrations, etc. with my team, with prospects and friends. It is easy to add comments and ideas in this documents and share it with people involved without any problems with program incompability. I love the Acrobat Reader App for my Mobile Phone and the possibility to scan documents and convert to PDF-Files with Adobe Scan.

Cons

It is very hard to find something that I do not like about this software. Especially with the possibility to get the Adobe Acrobat, with which you can create and edit PDF-Documents, for professional use with an Abo-Model, which makes it affordable not only for companies, but for individuals, where you can cancel the subscription monthly. What I wonder is why Adobe still do not have his own software like MS Word, Google Docs, etc.. I have still issues with creating writable formulars, because converting from MS Word to PDF is not hundred percent working. Anyway this critic is about Adobe Acrobat. The Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is amazing.

This PDF reader software is great in terms of features, functions and relailbe.

Pros

Read Out Loud option is helpful when the user faces difficulties in reading lengthy paragraphs. One can use a digital signature to document sign the document. The comment option helps the user in inserting the comments in the particular place of the document. View option helps the user to display the document in particular rotate view, double-page view and zoom. Light mode and dark mode themes are available. The user interface is simple and user friendly. Adobe provides a cloud location where the user can easily upload and view it. Find option helps in locating the required keywords.

Cons

The customer support needs to improve the response and resolution time. Need to provide flexible price plans. Read Out Loud option activation is time-consuming and also crashes sometimes. The software is a bit late responsive in transition and functioning in lower configured work stations.

Acrobat Reader DC - ease of extracting data tables alone makes it worth it

Reviewed 6 years ago

I needed to extract several tables of data from several journal articles for an analysis. I had done this the month before using freeware, but the format was fraught with anomalies, and I soon was wasting time writing Excel macros to fix it. Acrobat Reader DC allowed me to do a similar task in a few minutes by exporting to Excel.

Pros

Acrobat Reader DC is a paid version of the ubiquitous and free Acrobat reader. It is a monthly subscription, with a discount for paying annually. There are 4 sets of features that are not found in Reader: ability to create de novo pdfs, ability to lock and password protect PDFs, ability to electronically sign documents in real time, and - the one I requested Reader DC for - the ability to export...

Cons

My biggest complaint is that I often accidentally end up in edit mode (one of the other major features of the software). Instead of highlighting something to copy, I am suddenly overtyping it. However, since I have not yet learned how to get into editing mode, this may be more user error. I do anticipate eventually using this feature to make changes or updates in PDF documents for which the original Powerpoint or Word document is not available. (A common scenario is when a Powerpoint is too large to email to remote participants, but there are small changes after rendering the pdf.)

Pros

The price is free and it's made by the people who invented PDF, so compatibility is never an issue. If you have an errant PDF with problems, Acrobat Reader is your best bet at getting it open. I like that I can digitally sign PDFs with Acrobat Reader without the need to buy the full Acrobat software. Little things like that are expected features of software like this that make using it easier.

Cons

Historically, Acrobat Reader has been slow to open. Although that issue is mostly fixed, there are still many times when Acrobat Reader doesn't open quickly. Honestly, I expect a PDF reader to open almost instantly, especially with a fast PC and an SSD. It's just not acceptable to me to know have a small program like this open quickly. Review of Adobe Acrobat Reader

Reviewed 4 years ago

Adobe Acrobat Reader has become default tool for most of the daily activities. Its been nice to use the Adobe Acrobat reader. I mainly use the Adobe Acrobat reader for activities like Read, Edit, Review, Comment and many other.

Pros

The Adobe Acrobat Reader is most commonly found in every desktop or laptop as the default software to open or read files in .PDF format.Adobe Acrobat has become a synonym for PDF, Most of the time folks who refer PDF indirectly will be talking about Acrobat Reader. Adobe Acrobat reader basic features consists of - Adding Sticky notes, highlighter, options to scroll in different ways with icons, pan, page numbers. One can easily save the PDF after opening using Save as or Save options. Adobe Acrobat Reader also has some advanced features like Adding Signature, Running OCR to scan & search text, Edit PDF options, combining multiple PDFs, Saving files in Cloud, Redaction etc.

Cons

Adobe Acrobat Reader is the most popular and widely used but it still has few disadvantages or demerits. Adobe Acrobat Reader advanced is comparatively expensive then some Open Source products available in market today. though one can get the basic version of Adobe Acrobat Reader easily and mostly as freeware or easy to download but the basic version does not provide many features. Sometimes Adobe Acrobat Reader will hang or get stuck and forcefully close and reopen the application. This has improved over time.

My review for Acrobat Reader DC

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

I have been using Acrobat Reader DC for various purposes for a long time. The software is quite handy and very easy to use. As a master student, I am always provided with scientific papers, articles, research projects and data by my professors in the form of PDF files. And to properly view the files I find Acrobat Reader DC the most useful available software. What I enjoy most about using Acrobat Reader...

Cons

What I dislike about Acrobat Reader DC is that the software sometimes does not let me view the files in a proper scale/size. It usually happens when I view my lecture presentations that were created on Microsoft PowerPoint and were converted into PDF files. When I try zooming in the file the texts, pictures and graphs on the file become too large and hard to read. When I do opposite and zoom out for example, they become too small to read. Therefore, it is sometimes hard to have your files in the perfect size/scale in order to read files comfortably.

The Must-Have PDF Reader of the Century

Reviewed 6 years ago

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is a cross-platform PDF reader that goes beyond just a reader and allows you to make essential edits, combine PDFs, split pages, and create PDF forms -- all options that are severely lacking in other PDF readers. This is an extremely useful tool that is necessary for anyone who uses PDFs extensively.

Pros

While most people continue to use their browser to read and print PDFs, Adobe Acrobat Reader DC takes it to the next level. The primary advantage to using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is its ability to edit PDF documents. You can change words, fonts, size, and even highlighting like a normal word processor would. To some degree, you have even more control with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC as you can control horizontal scaling and character spacing which is much harder to do on most word processors. Furthermore, Adobe Acrobat Reader DC provides ways to export your PDF into other formats, Comment on PDFs, Organize them via splitting or combining different pages together, and even a form option along with a fill & sign. The extra features greatly enhance the usefulness of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

Cons

There is not a whole lot to complain about as far as PDF readers go. Sometimes, when splitting documents, it would be nice to name documents based on a field found on each page rather than a name with a prefix. Furthermore, beginners may have a hard time finding the different tools. An option in the top left corner right next to the home button labeled "Tools" gives you all the different options to edit your PDF. Often, beginners struggle to find it as it is not an option in your normal toolbar. As I have the paid version, I have not had to deal with the different limitations that I would run into without the subscription, but the fact that there is a cost is a disadvantage unto itself.

Widely Used but Otherwise not Very Functional

Reviewed 6 years ago

It is handy to view PDFs I download from other sources, but it's just a viewer unless you want to pay a ridiculous amount of money.

Pros

I do appreciate that we have a widely-used way to view uneditable documents, and PDFs render like an image, so your formatting doesn't change (like it does with Word docs, etc., depending on the device you're viewing/editing them on). I also appreciate the form features, so clients can fill out certain fields created in the document and enter a signature. It's also super helpful for showing layering and bleeds for marketing materials and business cards. Some of the more advanced, premium features are nice too, though you've got to have a big bank account if you want to use them (more about that in Cons).

Cons

There's very little you can do without paying for it. Sometimes I want to combine documents, particularly when I scan them to my computer and the printer every now and then doesn't want to send a huge file, so I have to split it up into 2 scans. If it's for my business, it's just slightly embarrassing and unprofessional to have to send a single document in 2 parts. Spending money just for Adobe Pro seems a little crazy to me. I don't use it for signing/sending often, so I can't justify the ongoing cost. It would be different if I could just purchase the software, but Adobe has gone to subscriptions now, which just don't work for me.

Saves time and Money

Reviewed 4 years ago

It has been great WHen I called because we had problems downloading to a device. Customer support was prompt and even set us up for more users at a great price.

Pros

I have been able to receive documents that do not have the criteria needed. Instead of constantly sending back the form with what needs to be adjusted. I edit the document and make changes and even highlight those changes so the original author is aware it was altered. THis saves everyone time and money.

Cons

When saving a document in the cloud it is not easy to locate it. I have made changes then save them to the cloud because I need to work on them from home. When I go to locate the document it auto sorts it by its own criteria. I have since been able to ensure my documents are sorted by date so this has been resolved.

Acrobat Reader DC: the simplest and most cost effective choiche to read PDF files on your PC

Reviewed 5 years ago

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is free and useful cause it comes from those who invented the PDF format, so installing it is painful and silly not to. Adobe though, has made many efforts to make it useless by adding to many links to Pro features that clutters the user interface but requires you to upgrade to be used. Considering this and that there are others free PDF files reader around, some more feature rich than Acrobat Reader DC, some users might consider other options more meaningful so to avoid having an ads bloated app on their desktop.

Pros

Adobe Acrobat Reader is the free reader for PDF file, it has becomes more and more feature rich over years and its interface has been changed and evolved. It is the only software that will guarantee a precise visualization of PDF files, especially those using less common features like data entry forms or legally signed ones.

Cons

Despite being updated constantly over the years, features added seems to be not much: user interface has been revamped but most of the features, like exporting to other formats or modifying PDF files, requires you to upgrade to the Pro version. It seems Adobe sees any upgrade like an opportunity for marketing by reshuffling componets of the user interface (sometimes making hard to find features you used up to the upgrade), adding a little new small features and lots of links to useful features that will force to upgrade that look more like ads than a real upgrade.

The only software that makes multiplatform access to PDF.

Reviewed 5 years ago

It is enough to download the stable version from the official website and that's it, so our organization saves money in the payment of licenses for programs that do the same. Apart from that offered by Adobe, in addition, having in the office computers with few resources, makes it vital to have Adobe Acrobat Reader DC as support to maximize our computing resources by having a low impact software for the resources of the computers.

Pros

Every user of any mobile device, tablet or computer has ever used Adobe Reader Dc in his life, that is one of the things that I like the most, it is a program that I would dare to say, it is the most used in the world after Browsers, it allows you to read any information that you transmit from different sources, either from a storage device to an email you receive. Also, I like very much the small size it occupies and the few resources that it uses of the ram memory of the computer, it is a true tranquility to count on its capacities to be able to read those files so important for my work and academic obligations.

Cons

I do not have negative aspects to identify, I consider that greater are the advantages that offer that any deficient aspects can be weighed by all the good that it offers. Another important element is that it has the backing of a company as large and consolidated as adobe, which dissipates any possible problem or negative aspect.

best pdf reader

Reviewed 4 years ago

I love this product and I believe it is the best product when it comes to pdf reading.

Pros

I like that it works easily with other software allowing you to edit almost any document more easily.

Cons

what I like the least is the fact that it is another adobe product meaning it is not free and the price is not the cheapest in the market.
