Love it, hate the price

Reviewed 4 years ago

I love it!

Pros

Love the functionality and custom settings. Love that I can choose not to sync or “online only” folders. Love that I can connect my personal account to my business account. Love how much space we get. Love that we can use Dropbox as a server for our small org. LOVE LOVE LOVE AND NEED the automatic saving / versioning. This has saved us so many times. This is the main reason, along with using it as a file server, that we pay for Dropbox.

Cons

The price is very steep in my opinion. Many people I know and work with do not use Dropbox because of the cost. It drives me absolutely insane that business requires at least three users. That’s insane to me! Insane. The other thing that is very troublesome is that it doesn’t automatically lock files when you’re working on them and someone else opens the same file. It has some integration that sometimes provides warnings through Excel, but other file types are completely at risk of having conflicting copies. This is very tricky for the non-tech savvy and it is a weakness. Most of what I love comes with the paid version. As a free product, I can see it annoying people as they near their limits.

The tool for all of us

Reviewed 3 years ago

My overall experience is one that I would continue to use this application and recommend it. It's simple seamless and cost-effective

Pros

I've used this application for over five years and found that it's easy to use, and the company has improved it; keep it expensive, and allows the user to use it still easily.

Cons

Not many cons with this application, the new login would probably be the only thing that I've encountered that really didn't work well for me.

Drobox for Business with e-sign is a great workflow for the digital era.

Reviewed 2 years ago

A leader and continues to be. With new features it is a tool that small or medium size agencies can invest into for digital transformation.

Pros

This is a great package for those we can afford such. The additional add in for e-sign has made the dropbox stand out from day 1. It is simple to install and most time (90%) it does it thing and sync the file to the cloud. The ability to view file without having some pre-installed software is a great feature as compared to other tools that forces the users to have installed application to open or...

Cons

It is costing a bit for these services. Collaboration is challenging in low bandwidth environments. Two users will often complain that they are seeing two version of the document. Which is understandably annoying..

So Easy to Use & Secure

Reviewed a year ago

In conclusion, I am very satisfied with my experience using Dropbox Business. It has made my work easier and more efficient, and the advanced security features have given me peace of mind. Although it may be a bit pricey compared to other options, I believe that the added features and security make it worth the extra cost. Overall, I would highly recommend Dropbox Business to any business looking for a reliable and user-friendly cloud storage solution.

Pros

I've been a user of Dropbox Business for a little over a year now, and I have to say that it has made my work so much easier. The interface is incredibly user-friendly and makes sharing files with my team a breeze. The integration with other apps and platforms has allowed me to access my files from anywhere, making it incredibly convenient. The advanced security features have also given me peace of mind knowing that my data is always protected.

Cons

The only downside to Dropbox Business that I have noticed is the price. It is a bit pricier compared to other cloud storage solutions, but I believe that the added features and security are worth it. It also took me a little bit of time to get used to all the features and settings, but once I figured it out, I couldn't imagine going back to a different solution.

Dropbox Business - Pros & Cons

Reviewed 4 years ago

Dropbox has provided the opportunity for employees in the organization to manage and share files locally and remotely without the need for carrying thumb drives from workstation to workstation. Not only has this feature enabled flexibility and efficiency in the work space but also improving the standard of work, saving time and energy as compared to other file management solution. While the sharing...

Pros

The first time I heard about Dropbox for Business I didn't have the slightest clue what this system could do, let alone the benefits and impact it could have on an organization. What I like most about the software is the user friendly interface and how easy it is to setup an account compared to other systems out there. Once the account has been setup, you can give employees access immediately, so they...

Cons

As it is common for any cloud solution, there is a price factor that needs to be considered carefully before a decision is made to go with the solution at hand. Dropbox for Business maybe a bit too expensive for small to medium size businesses. There is a 30-day free trial use for limited users only and if you do choose to go with the paid option, you will be looking at paying a price of $750 per year for just 5 user licenses. If you want to add more users the cost keeps increasing. Having Dropbox running within your organization can also impact the performance of your network bandwidth, that's if your users are uploading large files during peak production hours. You may have to do some tweaking and configuration from a network perspective to accommodate this new solution.

Dropbox business - so-so. Dropbox consumer great!

Reviewed 3 years ago

Used Sharepoint, OneDrive, Box, and Google for 5 plus years. Hands down better than the Microsoft Products and is miles ahead of Google, and the price compared to Box is much easier to swallow, but have not noticed huge improvements after going public. Like that you can pay monthly (which Box couldn't do when using) and the price point is easier than Box. Three years in, I like but the cost is keeping me in.

Pros

easy to deploy and setup. Syncing is good...but cannot sync fully if you use consumer and business with two different accounts. It is good but the hiccups are not as good as Box. Better than OneDrive, which was terrible, and better than the google suite. Lower priced than Box.

Cons

version control good but not great. Minute security to files is not as complete as Box. Use can use the Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) when using desktop version, but could not as useful when using tablet or mobile device. The rolling down of security is not as clean but works for the files I am keeping/using. The software has the TEXT searching into the individual files, but cannot easily restrict the search in file type, when created. Pulls up too many files and have to look thru to find the document you are searching for.

Top Tier Cloud Storage Platform

Reviewed 3 years ago

Dropbox has made a positive difference in our office! My manager approached me about a year ago and asked me to check into cloud storage alternatives. I conducted some research on storage capacity, cost, and security, among other things... Right away, Dropbox was my first option. I knew I had to make little to no changes to their daily routine in order to sell this migration opportunity to the rest of the company, but I also had to prove it was worth the investment. I joined up the office for a free trial, and the crew was immediately impressed with how simple the program is to use. Most participants were familiar with traditional desktop file folders, and thanks to Dropbox's features, I was able to install the program directly on their devices.

Pros

Dropbox's user interface is basic and intuitive. In addition, the pricing is acceptable from a business viewpoint. I also like Dropbox's added security by functioning as a digital backup in case something goes wrong. I appreciate that Dropbox can be accessed from a variety of platforms and devices, including a website, a computer application, a mobile phone, or a tablet, which is convenient while working from home, from different places, or when on the road. Furthermore, transferring documents using Dropbox saves time and money since it is faster, more secure, and avoids paper waste.

Cons

As with every cloud service, there is a cost component that must be carefully addressed before deciding to proceed with the solution in question. Dropbox for Business is likely to be too costly for small and medium-sized enterprises. There is a 30-day free trial period for restricted users, and if you want to go with the premium option, you will be charged $750 per year for just 5 user licenses. The expense of adding new users continues to rise. If your users are uploading huge files during peak production hours, having Dropbox running within your business might affect the performance of your network bandwidth.

I am using since more than two years its makes my work easier

Reviewed a year ago

Dropbox is an incredibly powerful tool that can help you manage and share your important files. Its many features make it easy to store, sync, and access your data from any device. Dropbox also offers security benefits such as two-factor authentication and encryption to keep your data safe. Furthermore, Dropbox allows you to easily collaborate with team members by giving them permission to access specific documents or folders. With its wide range of features, Dropbox helps you work smarter and faster while keeping your business data secure.

Pros

Dropbox is a revolutionary cloud storage service that makes life easier for people with its ease of use and wide range of features. It allows you to store, sync, and share files from any device, anywhere in the world. Its advanced security settings keep your data safe and secure while its collaboration capabilities enable teams to work together in near real-time. With features such as remote file access, version history, sharing folders and links with colleagues or friends, file size restrictions, folder tagging, and more, Dropbox is an essential tool for staying productive in today's digital world. Take advantage of this powerful cloud storage solution by exploring its many amazing features!

Cons

One of the primary cons of using Dropbox is a lack of security. The service does not offer the same level of encryption as other cloud-based storage options and there have been reports of data breaches in the past that have exposed users’ files to potential hackers. Additionally, access to data stored in Dropbox can be susceptible to government requests, depending on the provider’s terms and conditions. Finally, even though Dropbox offers plenty of free storage space, its paid plans can quickly become expensive if you need more than 2TB of storage space.

Good for 1 user, Dropbox personal is not that good for business

Reviewed 7 years ago
Pros

I use Dropbox to back up my educational data for my business. Also to back up any applications/.exe files I downloaded. Pricing is simple, you pay about 100$/year for 1 terabyte. You pick the location of the folder. Most SSDs are limited to 1 terabyte max capacity and my music library, audiobooks, application files, documents and taxes all take up 360 gigabytes. That means it's plenty for personal...

Cons

1. Customer service. They try to save money and automate everything to provide low rates - understandable. I had added a new Linux computer and put the dropbox folder on an external drive. When I turned on the Linux computer without the extra drive, dropbox thought the whole folder had been deleted. It deleted all my files online and synced the deletion to my Windows desktop. It was a MESS!...

Dropbox business medium bussines

Reviewed a month ago

I had really had a good experience as a personal user but in the company when I implemented it the cost was very high so I had to reduce the users who really had access and who needed their information at hand.

Pros

I liked that we could store information from a computer and transfer it to a mobile phone without having to send emails and have the information from any computer linked to the user.

Cons

the cost of this platform per user was very expensive and if the user really used it for storage it could be profitable but if not it was too expensive to be an information channel.

I only wish…

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

Dropbox is my favorite file sharing solution. It’s easy to use, understand, and integrates with all my devices. Only problem is their marketing team over priced the product. They have a plan that is too small for most businesses, and a plan that is too big. If they made a couple of tiers in between many SMB’s such as myself would switch back to Dropbox. Right now it’s just too expensive compared toto Google. Other than the pricing issue, Dropbox is fantastic!

Cons

Plans are either too small in storage, or too large and expensive. They need in between plans for most SMB’s to use it happily and feel like they are getting a great value. Their marketing team priced me and about 5 companies I know about personally (friends of mine) to Google. Their sales philosophy is saving a nickel to lose a quarter. Really sad. Especially since they are a superior product to Google and Microsoft in my opinion.

Protects files

Reviewed 2 years ago

I used Dropbox business to backup records and notes for the convenience and to cut down on file clutter. I liked that I can scan in a physical document when I need to, we aren't one hundred percent digital yet. This organization is partly mobile, some records need to be updated by employees while in a patients home. We prefer that some records are only kept online incase an employee leaves us for whatever reason or incase of lost or stolen electronics. Only folders I choose are synced, the others stay online only.

Pros

Getting the account set up only took a few minutes. Employees were able to adjust to the change and I control what they see or don't see. No outside accounts had to be replaced and I'm always able to share records from Dropbox business to our office suite. I like having revision history so I can reverse an inaccurate change. Records are always backed up and I don't need to keep additional backup copies. Photographic records remain clear after being transferred and open normally. I am confident that my records and notes are private and protected from ransomware.

Cons

Not free to use and not the best value for money. Any facility is going to accumulate records every day and the storage will overflow. After setup employees and I both had to spend a long time reading the frequently asked questions link. A way to leave a short message attached to folders or notify someone that a folder had been updated would make Dropbox business better .

Great product for a Small / Medium Business

Using Dropbox was an initial step into more serious file security. It allowed us to develop a great architecture.

This is a great product from a robust and reputable company, that gives us the guarantee the product will keep our data safe. We can have our backup, share our files, perform data recovery, sync it with other deices and can be integrated with zoom, Canva and others. You can always start for free.

Cons

Even tough they have a free version, they are expensive, coming to $15-$25 per user per month. Another issue is their solution can be very heavy, requiring a lot of space on the disk for file syncing.

Fast Syncing - Secure - Safe

Reviewed 2 years ago

As a photographer it did not work for me. I think it would be okay for a business that did not need to store a large volume of large files. I did use it for several months and during that time I was able to run my business with success, however I did not find any extra benefits from using Dropbox Business vs other cloud storage.

Pros

I like the compatibility with other software that I've used for a long time, I like the security aspect, dropbox business allows two factor authentication, single sign on, remote device wipe ( I already had to use that once, so glad I had it ) Long term file recovery is great to have. Syncing files is fast across all devices, it's almost instant. Smart sync saves even more time. I like the ability to organize files and folders in a way that works for me.

Cons

Large files can be slow on upload or download. I wish the storage space given for the price was larger. It would be nice to have built in editing tools.

Pleased with the quality

Reviewed 2 years ago

Overall it's really not too bad, it gets the job done and I'm very pleased with the ease of access from mobile devices. It was good for us as a small business and I would recommend it. We stored our design ideas, drafts, ads and marketing products, records, and invoices with Dropbox Business.

Pros

The most convenient feature is the mobile access and ease of use. Unlike similar products it is easily accessible from your phone or mobile device and most features are still functional. I'm pleased with the level of encryption and the privacy policy. The remote access and controls are adequate and two factor authentication is available. The lost file recovery is a life saver. Organization is easy with customizable folders. Sharing files is easy. Overall the quality is good.

Cons

There are problems when uploading documents specifically. When I do get successful uploads they're jumbled up and display on half of the screen. I don't know why this happens but it's so annoying and time consuming. The price and what you get for your money could be improved.. It's lacking several things including communication and collaboration tools and Metadata search criteria.

A very efficient tool for file sharing and storage

Reviewed 2 years ago

The overall experience I have with this application is very very good. I greatly welcome the birth of this tool that allows me to store my many files.

Pros

Dropbox Business for me remains a great tool for centralizing storage, file sharing and access to all the most important files, be it Google Docs, Microsoft Office file or Traditional files. And best of all, you can try this great cloud storage and sharing platform at a fraction of the cost compared to other platforms!

Cons

While the app is great for sharing documents, large files and perfect for small businesses and works perfectly, however, the app is still in my eyes sometimes slow when it takes time to upload and download files. If it could be just a little bit faster, this application would be formidable and incomparable on the market.

We really love using Dropbox. It's rolled out for our whole team and it has helped us get stuff done.

Pros

I can't really pick between the fast sync and admin tools. Those were two of the features that made us select Dropbox for Business as our cloud drive.

Cons

Frankly, I hope they had a version with less features that didn't need all the collaboration tools, just the sharing and sync. We do have team members who don't really need those, and it's too expensive for those who only use it to store files.

Dropbox Business has proven to be worth exponentially more than the cost of maintaining its services. The sheer convenience of being able to access necessary information by staff regardless of where they are located saves us significantly more money and increases our productivity. The additional benefits of having the ability to restrict access to certain documents removes the fear that lower level...

Pros

Dropbox for Business has allowed us to transition from an old-fashioned paper filing system to an efficient cloud-based storage system that is not only exponentially more convenient but also incredibly secure. Our files are able to be accessed from any location, and the time it takes to find specific information has been drastically reduced due to the search features in Dropbox. Furthermore, the ability to limit access to certain files and folders to certain levels of staff allows all of our staff to access all the information they need without providing access to sensitive information that is restricted to upper-level staff. With Dropbox's features, our ability to access vital information in a timely manner while maintaining information security has never been better.

Cons

Transitioning from a paper filing system to an online one was a lengthy process. For several weeks, we had to operate redundant systems while we scanned and transferred our existing files into Dropbox. In hindsight, if we had realized the amount of time and effort this transition would take, we would have explored options to have a third party company perform a mass migration of our files so that we could transition from all-paper to exclusively digital at once.
