Pros and cons

Overall UI is beautiful and easy to navigate. Easy for clients to setup their account and integrate with MyFitnessPal which is a great plus point.
Very easy customer service is awesome and they are so helpful plus they were awesome over COVID.
TrueCoach is extremely user friendly, both for me and my clients. I especially love how great their customer support team is, very responsive.
Frustrating to use with my iPad when designing workouts or needing go change something on the fly. Lack of diversity in body sizes and races in videos.
One thing I find missing is the ability to do a one-time charge to a clients account. I also have found the process of cancelling and restarting a program to be a bit confusing at first.
Clients have complained about watching the demo videos and their own music being shut off.

True Coach

Reviewed 5 years ago

Would love if it had a billing system, or a way to communicate with billing systems.

Pros

There is no other software like this. It makes managing clients very simple and allows for increased client load. After transitioning from google spreadsheets, i have never looked back.

Cons

App has some kinks to work out. Video uploader can be finicky sometimes, especially for longer videos. Exercise search function from programming screen has some issues as well. Constant updating, which is good, but continuous changes to functionality decreases efficiency as well.

Daily grind made easy for Clients and Coaches.

Reviewed a year ago
Pros

It's so easy for clients/athletes to set themselves up. Understanding and tracking their work/progress is impressively intuitive even for the not-so tech savvy. On the programming/coaching side of things, the browser experience is incredibly smooth. Coaches find ways to make programming more efficient every day!

Cons

The mobile app is great from an athlete standpoint, needs work (start existing!) from a coach/programmer standpoint. Currently, coaches have to program on the browser version on mobile, the UI/UX isn't as seamless as the athlete/client end of things.

Truecoach Review

It has served it's purpose but it feels like you guys are focused more on expansion than improving the product for exciting users.

Pros

It is light and quick - easy to navigate. It is quick to program.

Cons

I don't like that you can't easily save individual workouts to drag and drop or load into the calendar. I don't find the programs feature useful. I need to copy and paste in two different tabs and can't see my workouts when programming. Not very functional for coaches. I don't like that there is no progression feature and that you need to type in text for sets and steps. It leads to too many user errors. I don't like that you guys are adding features like payments instead of fixing these use issues. I don't have confidence that you are working on them or see the need. I also do not like that the price doubles from 20 clients to 21. That does not make sense and is not friendly for mid-tier coaches with a moderate workload.

Easy Use for Coaches

Reviewed a year ago

I had a bank account issue and multiple True Coach employees worked with me to get it settled. I find it very useful and easy to get started with. I also appreciate their webinars -- i attended one in the beginning and learned some useful tips

Pros

I like how easy it is to design programming. I tried multiple softwares and True Coach looked cleanest on the coaching end of things

Cons

I wish you could voice message in the messaging part

Super easy-to-use software

Reviewed a year ago

Saves me so much time being able to use program templates for my clients as well as being able to easily link videos from my own video library of me demonstrating the exercises. AND I love that my clients can now be charged automatically via Stripe!

Pros

It makes running my business SO much easier and more professional looking! My clients LOVE it compared to my old school spreadsheet workouts with hyperlinks.

Cons

I’m not sure there’s anything I don’t like about it!

Good but room for improvement

Reviewed a year ago

Happy with the app, rare technical bugs (compared to other app where they are frequent). Super easy to use!

Pros

Fairly simple to use for myself and my clients

Cons

The way programs are presented. Difficult to find the one I want. Would be good to have the option to pin one or 2 to the top (the ones I use the most). Also having to scroll all the way down to change page is not ideal.

True Coach Connect Review

Reviewed a year ago

I love TrueCoach and would not use any other software for my personal training needs. It is very reliable and easy to use.

Pros

I love how easy it is to use and that new features are being added. It has made it more fun for my clients and much easier for me to create their workouts.

Cons

I wish that it was easier to see workouts and features from my clients point of view. Also the nutritional guide that I wrote is very hard to find and most of my clients cannot find it unless I show them how to.

TrueCoach: Truly Amazing!

Reviewed 4 years ago

The biggest benefit I've noticed is a time saver. From dealing with spreadsheets and emails in the past, I was always sifting back and forth trying to find and track information. TrueCoach has made that a breeze, so I can focus more on client service, rather than waste time.

Pros

What I like most about this software is that it's made for coaches who not only LOVE to program exercise and training programs, but also want ease of use to quickly write programs to see progressions and client results. From the bench mark features, to 'exercise history' features, TrueCoach has it all. I'm able to track any data I want on my clients and see their history with the assessments as well. The notifications work just like Facebook, so there's no confusion on notifications you've seen or not read. The video aspect is HUGE for me and my clients because I like my clients uploading their film of exercises. Through TrueCoach, I'm able to slow the video down, do a screen capture video, and send it right back to them with critiques and praise in a matter of minutes.

Cons

What I 'don't like' about the software was the transition from 'FitBot' to 'TrueCoach'. I think 'FitBot' was a more fitting name and told people what they were getting, but they wanted to rebrand and come out with an app. The app is knew and has some bugs, so I have my clients save the website on their home screen. It acts better than the app (until improvements are made) and it's more user friendly. It's a growing pain that they'll get past, but it's a slight annoyance for now.

Easy to use

Reviewed 3 years ago

Excellent. It can continued to improve over the years.

Pros

TrueCoach is easy to use for myself as a coach, and for my clients. I really enjoy the ability to attach videos to each exercise since workouts are done remotely. Customer service is always excellent.

Cons

The plans go from 5 clients to a 20 client jump. Really wish there was a 10 client plan included in there. I am growing and will probably have 6-7 remote clients, but not nearly 20, but will need to pay for the 20 limit.

Ease of use and customer service.

Reviewed 3 years ago

It has been an excellent experience overall and from the beginning.

Pros

Programming workouts is extremely easy, complete and thorough. I can make a skeleton plan or I can plan for one day. There are preloaded exercise videos which are extremely useful and usable.

Cons

I’m still waiting for a platform for nutrition and nutrition coaching. There have been some additions on this but I’m hoping for a full nutrition platform.

True Coach has helped me Scale and Streamline!

Reviewed 3 years ago

I love using True Coach and it has allowed me to scale my business to between 350-400 clients.

Pros

True Coach streamlines the process of assigning workouts and communicating with clients!

Cons

It can sometimes be a bit glitchy. For example, when I'm on the calendar pages it'll jump around a lot and it gets confusing. I also wish it would save responses when you click away from the workout. My coaches have wasted a lot of time typing long responses only to click back to their metrics/photos and go back to the workout and the response is gone and they have to retype it.

The best out there!

Reviewed 4 years ago

Overall, I have used this software for 3 years now and I wouldn't change to anything else. Best out there!

Pros

I love being able to copy and paste training sessions onto the next week. Editing is super simple and my clients always get what they need. Responses are sent real-time and I can do everything from my phone if I have to.

Cons

Sometimes it can be a little slow with the video uploads. Which can be frustrating for my clients.

An effective tool for coaches

Reviewed 10 months ago

Overall it has helped me with my business tremendously and I hope it continues to improve and evolve as my business grows.

Pros

TrueCoach helps me communicate and keep tabs on my clients with their messaging and compliance ratings. It has many great feautures

Cons

The messaging can be improved as it doesn’t allow you to review which photo you want to send in the chat before it’s sent. Messages should also have a voice note option to improve client experience. The android app just redirects clients to a webpage which isn’t as good. The payment and other features aren’t available worldwide, just US. Often times, I upload workouts and they don’t save or the page reloads and erases what I had typed.

TrueCoach for 1:1 coaching clients

Reviewed 3 years ago

Overall it is good, very simple to manage and my clients have a great experience with it.

Pros

-It is a simple interface -Allows me to keep in great communication with my clients -I love that my clients can upload their videos and I am easily able to give them feedback -It's great that there is an app -The programs feature is crucial for my business!

Cons

-The biggest logistical issue I've run into is adding clients who have used TrueCoach with a different coach. It is always a process of me messaging for help, needing to add the client to the conversation, then you all manually changing the client over to my platform, with additional follow up messages to make sure everything is resolved. It would be great if this process could be automated, for example...

True Coach is the truth... for functional fitness.

Reviewed 3 years ago

I absolutely love True Coach. The platform is consistent with the direction of fitness and I believe their staff continues to keep their fingers on the pulse of the functional fitness industry.

Pros

I love the library of information that is available to me. I’m a CrossFit enthusiast, certified by NASM-CPT, PES, CES, BCS, CNC (CNC pending), NCSF-CPT, and I believe it is within my scope of practice to use mixed modal training (I do not Rx benchmark WOD’s for clients), but not call it CrossFit. A lot of the exercises available are things that I use for clients, i.e., front squats, back squats, deadlifts,...

Cons

I could use some waiver forms, or have the ability to upload my own. Maybe I haven’t looked hard enough, but that would be great. How about workout cards for the day... spoke with someone on how to blow up the workout on your screen, but something wirh an actual filing system/archive option. If i was given an opportunity to be a part of the True Coach team, I’d take it. I’d like to see calculations for measurements and more data - as it relates to the client, in order to quantify their improvements. Again, maybe I’m not looking hard enough at the platform.

Review for TrueCoach

Reviewed 4 years ago

Overall, I've been extremely happy with TrueCoach and their customer service over the years. Communication has been improved over time as they've grown their team. Like I said previously, there have been some one-off issues in the past that disrupted my processes but were solved. After experimenting with similar software, nothing compares to TrueCoach.

Pros

TrueCoach has provided a tool for me to be able to better communicate with my clients. Before TrueCoach I would spend countless hours messing with spreadsheets, email, and text messages. Their platform has allowed me to streamline my process so I can communicate better and more efficiently. The company is constantly innovating and reaching out to their clients for feedback that drives their improvements.

Cons

Any software in its infancy will always have bugs and need improvements. Over the years there have been some issues that disabled usability or didn't allow me to access a feature at certain times. All in all, none of them have been a huge deal and they were eventually remediated. I'd like is billing/payment processing ability, but I know that has been in the works for a while long and assume there are good reasons it doesn't exist yet. The product works much better for individuals over teams. I'd love a platform where I could communicate with a team or group all at once vs solely in individual profiles. I.E. a chatroom or group similar to what exists on Facebook.

Leaving in a week for a better platform

Reviewed a year ago

Excited at first, and then just dreaded logging in after a few months. I’ve grown as a coach, and the platform has refused to grow at all. In fact, they broke the client app, and still haven’t fixed it. It just makes me sad to think about, now.

Pros

Truecoach is good for a brand new coach with less than 5 clients, that needs to get organized. After that, the platform gets overwhelmed with its own features and poor design.

Cons

The coaching interface is cumbersome. Programming and tweaking is painful and tedious. It’s like they launched the product, and then stopped improving it. There are 3 platforms that are less expensive and do the same thing, now. And, truecoach had the audacity to raise the price with no improvements, and then roll out features to cost their customers more money each month for services that are easily available for less. Truecoach is just trying to trap customers into feeling like all their stuff is on one half-baked platform.

Great product with ease of use and delivery for clients

Reviewed 3 years ago

I’ve had a very pleasant experience with true coach and have recommended it to many coaches. Many have also started using it because of this! I appreciate the continued improvements and again, ease of use for clients. It feels professional and improves the experience

Pros

Having the ability to upload your own videos for clients is ideal. It allows for ease of explanation and personalization

Cons

The main piece I wish was included was a place for loads to be entered to track volume over time. The open text boxes are good, but I would like to be able to track volume and load over time. I also wish the there was an app for coaches to manipulate data.

Good buy spreadsheets hello more time coaching

Reviewed a year ago

I've been a user of Truecoach from its infancy with it was The Fitbot and have seen nothing but added value to me and my clients as a fitness coach. They are always keeping us up to date with a weekly email to help grow our business and serve us as coaches.

Pros

I enjoy the fact that they continue to develop and keep us coaches in the loop as to what is going on with the product. It is super easy to use on both sides of the coin, for the clients and the coaches. You can also chat with clients through the app.

Cons

I would say the feature i like the least is the inability for it to coach the clients for me lol.

Solid App

Reviewed a year ago

I've used other apps similar to this, but true coach really just made it a lot easier and a lot more streamlined. Essentially saving me time, and time is money.

Pros

I like how easy it is to use on my end as well as on my clients end, as well as a lot of the features like tracking measurements, photos, and being able to connect to my fitness pal. It's easy to write programs, as I don't need to type the exact exercise in the search bar. It uses more keywords, which is very convenient and very nice.

Cons

Sometimes I feel like it's kind of pricey, the initial price of 50 bucks isn't too bad from 0 to 20 clients, but then I pretty much doubles once you get 21 clients. This is fine, and I understand it, it's more that I personally usually flow around 25 clients and for those additional five clients I paid more than double what I initially paid. Although, I feel like there's enough in value and it really streamlines my work that the extra costs don't matter.

Coaching Made Easy

Reviewed 10 months ago

Overall, I'm very pleased with this product and the ease of use not only for me but for my clients. It's accessible to everyone of them and the video library makes sure my clients know what the movements should look like when I can't be there to guide them through it.

Pros

I love that I can add videos for each and every movement I request of my clients so they can see how the movement should be executed. Additionally, the ability for them to add video and enter comments on each of the movements is incredibly helpful for feedback and knowing how to better adjust things for them in the future. The ease of using the app on the client side is great. I have yet to have a complaint on the client side of the use of the system.

Cons

If I click out of the screen while working on programming for a client, the system can be finicky and doesn't always save my work. An auto save option would be a huge help so I don't have to reenter things if what I've entered goes missing.
