Mindbody Revolutionized My Business

I have a very small group fitness business. Before Mindbody I spent a lot of time trying to find clients, keeping track of client payments, and wondering whether clients were going to show up to class or not. Mindbody revolutionized my business. Not only did they automate all the tedious accounting and bookkeeping tasks I was doing manually, but they also accelerated my business beyond what I thought was possible -- bringing me new clients by the dozens. I was able to sell classes online 24/7, instead of being limited to accepting cash and checks at class. Their software also incorporated so many automatic features like reminders and client retention tools that I simply didn't have the time to do manually. And of course with the Mindbody app I am able to look at class sign-ups in real time, knowing which clients to expect in class -- giving me the opportunity to tailor classes to my clientele. I am thoroughly impressed with Mindbody and would highly recommend it to any fitness business.

Pros

First and foremost, I am not on the customer end of this app. I am the back end user/subscriber and I pay a monthly fee to use this system to gain clientele for my personal training business. One thing I liked about the app is that it has many features that allow many ways to communicate with clients. They also have friendly training calls and the people are extremely nice. They seem to be from the west coast so they all seem very laid back, Cali style. They are excellent sales people who know how to get you to

First and foremost, I am not on the customer end of this app. I am the back end user/subscriber and I pay a monthly fee to use this system to gain clientele for my personal training business. The company does not tell you how difficult the platform is. The fact that we need a trainer to show us how to use it should have let me know that I would require intense hands on training. The back end is difficult and the entire system requires lots of time. This is not a user friendly platform. Their customer service is the worst I have dealt with in many years. They do not offer refunds and if you do receive one, it is only done "At special circumstances" but it is not easy to obtain. The fact they say that there are no refunds is not good. They are mostly afraid that if you see the platform, you will steal their idea so they are more worried about their platform being stolen than making a customer happy. I was offered a free month because they guaranteed I'd be happy with their system. Unfortunately I wasn't and I decided to cancel with them. They never got back to me when I attempted by emailing their clientcare@mindbodyonline.com. I also contacted support@mindbodyonline.com and requested cancellation. I had a chance to speak to a tech support on the weekend who told me that he would let them know to cancel my subscription. I contacted my trainer who also gave me heads up on how to cancel and let me know she would let them know on her end. I am currently waiting on the phone with them for 50 minutes for them to call me back because I am in cue. Their cue time was "first person waiting on cue has waited 50 minutes" so I am assuming that I am not next. Even after requesting for over one week to cancel, they charged my card eight days later. I called my bank and they said that they have dealt with them before on a personal level so their reputation is known to be difficult. Their default email I have received countless times is "Thank you for contacting MINDBODY®. Our team has been experiencing a higher volume of inbound contacts, which means that we may not be able to get back to you as quickly as we would like. We appreciate your continued patience during our peak season and we have some great help resources available online. You can access detailed FAQs, video tutorials, and more, click here to get started! All emails are saved and may be reviewed for quality assurance purposes." This is the email I received by support when asking to cancel, by clientcare. I am now waiting to cancel and I do not have the time to wait yet I need to in order to get my money back. Do not go with them for a trial unless you are ready to commit because they are extremely difficult to work with and will keep your money if you decide they are not for you.

Disappointed Customer

We have been using Mind Body for one year. In the last month they changed their customer support system and jacked up their prices. This product is pretty east to use - on the set-up end there are a few too many steps, but from a daily use perspective it is very easy to use. Mind Body is a speedy program (which we love) and it as only gone down 3 times (briefly) in the one year we have used it. The reports are pretty good and if you want your own specialized report you can pay more for it. Our biggest issue is the drop in customer service at the same time that they doubled our monthly payment. There used to be online, email and phone support and typically we could get in touch with someone within the hour. Now you have to email or get a all back and it takes days for a response. This would be fine if the question was a non-urgent one, but we've had a few issues with MB lately that we needed a quick resolve. Then, we received notification that the price more than doubled. I called several times to discuss this and I couldn't get through after waiting almost an hour. The issues we had were weird quirks that could have been costly for us. I just don't understand how after a year they can jack up the price and take away the quality of customer support. For the record we LOVE online support because (1) it is almost immediate and (2) we can continue to work with customers without having a phone on our ear. Unfortunately we are now going to have to look for new software.

WARNING: Do not purchase Mindbody

Shocking software. Complex to set up. Full of glitches. Customer support is non existent (submitted 3 support calls over three week period, all for the same issue without a single response). This is a critical error stopping me using the software. Moving to Glofox. Mindbody cancelled my account 2 weeks early leaving me without a booking system.

Pros

Hard to find any right now.

Cons

Expensive. Complex to set up. Glitchy. Terrible technical support. Terrible customer service. Plenty of alternatives. DO NOT USE

Miracle Software

MindBody is the admin assistant I've always needed and could never before afford. In the first three months of using it I DOUBLED my income. My clients can schedule, cancel, reschedule, sign up for classes and pay online- that alone saves me at least two hours a day that I no longer have to be on the phone, I can be working! Or playing with my family, or a million other things rather than sitting on a phone or on email. Just the ability to take credit cards (all of them) increased my pay; there's a feature when the client pays which asks if they want to leave a tip and offers different percentages or a custom amount...and when asked if they want to leave a tip, more people do so! Seriously my average went from 65 to 90 each session. Clients can buy gift cards online and print them out immediately, that's a nice feature for those last minute gift givers, and they are again asked if they want to leave a tip... it's crazy how quickly my income skyrocketed. I'm beyond grateful. OH and the best part. MindBody's customer service. I was actually offered a lower rate with another company (we'll call them Circle so I don't offend the real company) but Circle was terrible. With Circle, I waited fifteen months to get the rate I was promised and I was constantly tossed back and forth in emails and phone calls as Circle passed blame and did nothing to help my business. So I checked out MindBody. And they walked me through the software, the setup, how to use it, they even showed me how to customize everything for my business! We're talking 45 minute phone calls with this awesome customer service associate (Max Malle- he's so calm and intelligent and researches every question you have) EVERY WEEK until I felt comfortable using MindBody. I was terrified after trying Circle, but MindBody gave me the software, the skills, the customization, the feedback- did I mention you can run reports at any time to figure profit and taxes and such?- and as of today I stand to TRIPLE my income this year. Thank God I didn't give up after Circle. Thank God I found MindBody. I realize I'm typing in stream-of-consciousness, I realize I'm beyond excited, but for a single mother of three running her own business who had learned to live just below the poverty level, to make such a leap in income, to have such powerful and professional software, to have the unwavering support and knowledge base of an entire team of people at MindBody- it's overwhelming. Miracle Software.

Pros

MindBody customer support is AWESOME! It's the reason I stay with MindBody, though Square offers a lower rate to NCBTMB members such as myself- square's customer support is awful. In contrast stands Max Malle. Remember that name. Best customer service rep I've ever known. He and the others go above and beyond their jobs- you can feel their sincerity. Oh and I've doubled my income and am set to triple it this year because the software does SO MUCH WORK for me. It's my administrative assistant that I only pay $52 a month for! It rocks.

Cons

Hm. Well, I have yet to figure out the difference between signing someone up for a yoga class and signing them in to a yoga class, so maybe differentiating that in the program's wording would help. OH and for those of us who use our phones exclusively, not a computer, when using the software, it would be lovely if the phone programming held everything just like the computer programming does. Hmmmmm .... OH and sometimes late at night my schedule disappears completely from my phone. It shows up as blank, which is frightening, but in the morning it's back to normal. Maybe you guys are working on it then?

PLEASE tell your programmers how very much I admire them. Please let them know how much they rock. Please tell them that they changed the life of a single mom of three, that we all eat SO much better now, all organic we can afford it! And tell them that they're healers in their own right. So many of us Ayurvedic Medicine Practitioners and yoga teachers and massage therapists give away tons of work for free or for charities and live knowing we're in this 'cause we love it, not for the money BUT NOW I HAVE BOTH!!! I actually make enough to support my family! AND I can still give lots of good work for free (stage IV cancer clients get free weekly treatments at my clinic.) Who knew we could do good in the world and receive good pay as well? YOUR PROGRAMMERS KNEW. So tell them we adore them please.

So thrilled we found Mindbody

After running our sailing school for 20 years under the county park system, our supervisors decided to discontinue the park's registration services. We were suddenly thrust into an administrative role where we had no experience. As I blindly searched for a registration solution, I stumbled upon Mindbody. My initial deduction was that the product wouldn't work for the types of programs and services we provide. I explained this to the Mindbody representative and described all the reasons why it wasn't a good fit. She listened to my rant and one by one dispelled my objections with solutions in the Mindbody software. Not only that, she assured me that Mindbody would be there to hold-our-hand through it all, and that the price was well within our budget. I had no choice but to sign up on the spot. 8 years later and Westwind is stronger than ever. In the first year of using Mindbody, our registrations and revenues were the best they had been in 5 years despite the ongoing recession. Our business continues to grow and evolve and Mindbody grows and evolves with us. I was blown away the first time I noticed improvements in the product based on requests from the clients. Now it's just the norm. I recently discovered Mindbody BOLD and Mindbody University. Both were some of the best business conferences I've attended in 30 years of running my company. Bottom line: Mindbody is a dynamic and forward thinking company that sincerely cares about its staff and customers. I strive to run my business this way and I find that I use Mindbody as a role mode. LOL! I'm not getting paid to say this stuff, it just really is that good!

Mindbody is great for reports, tracking sales and bookings for any fitness studio!

We use mindbody on a daily basis. We are crippled without it somedays so it's great to have the app version in case the computer isn't working. It's great for reporting, tracking sales, staff and booking classes for our clients.

I wish the express app had a clock in feature for employees. We have log in and out of 2 computer for them to clock in, the app function would be much easier if they could do it on their phones. Also, Customer support is not always helpful (knowledgeable) and also very hard to reach. I'm on hold for hours and and if I try the call back sometimes I never get a call back or its days later. Also I wish we could integrate the mindbody schedule into our website without redirecting to mindbody site just to see the most updated schedule.

Like having a Secretary!

I am using the Solo level, and I live in a rural resort area with worldwide clientele. I love this software, it makes life so much easier for a small but very busy office! Thanks MB!

Pros

I like the intuitive aspects and the way you can customize easily, especially during seasonal changes. I like how the customer service is available for really hard problems, and it can usually get solved, 24/7 AND with friendly people.

Cons

Sometimes in the Solo version it is not clear which part of the program is or isn't available to use.

Using MB at a Yoga Studio

Students are familiar with using it and have little to no problem signing up for classes, paying for memberships, etc. On the back-end, it is fairly intuitive to use and I am able to set up different staff permissions that work well for the different people working at the studio.
