Pros and cons

Guru has been super helpful in the past to look up quick pieces of info. Whether it's internal product knowledge or processes, or any other crucial tribal info, it's great to reference.
I love the user interface--it is perfect and I love easy-to-use software. Moreover, it is extremely intuitive with figuring out how to use the app and pull information from it.
As for my experience with Guru, I definitely love it, especially its features and how it helps me as a customer service representative.
I never used it it was so hard to search for information and I wasnt always sure that the information was up to date. Do not have these problems with Guru.
It's really a pain when you need to edit already existing cards.
What I like least, there hasn't been much that I've found with Guru that is bad. Only thing that has caused some trouble is the plug-in makes Chrome crash every so often.

Essential Tool for Knowledge Management

Reviewed a month ago

My overall experience with Guru has been extremely positive. It has become a cornerstone of our team's knowledge management, helping us centralize information and making it easily accessible for everyone. The platform has significantly reduced the time spent searching for information and has improved our overall productivity. The continuous updates and improvements to the platform also demonstrate that Guru is committed to staying ahead of the curve and meeting the evolving needs of its users.

Pros

What I like most about Guru is its seamless integration with everyday workflows. The platform allows for easy access to knowledge wherever you are working, be it in Slack, email, or other platforms. This greatly improves efficiency and ensures that the right information is always at hand. The intuitive user interface and the ability to customize collections and cards also make it easy to organize and find information quickly.

Cons

One downside is that the search functionality can sometimes feel a bit limited. While it generally works well, there are occasions when finding specific content requires more effort than expected, especially if the terminology isn't exact. Additionally, the learning curve for new users can be a bit steep, particularly when setting up initial collections or getting accustomed to the various features.

Amazing for Internal Knowledge Base

Reviewed a month ago
Pros

I love how easy it is to create cards and store knowledge. I like the collections/folder structure and how you can set permissions at that level. We also use the Zendesk integration which is great because it's allowing us to have more sources of knowledge when our users search for answers. It's really easy to search and get an answer. The verification process is easy to use and keep up with. Some other things I like: - You can have draft cards and collaborate on editing them. - Comments! Love being able to leave comments on cards to communicate in the platform. - When you publish a card update, you can summarize what changed. - You can create cards in Slack.

Cons

I wish Guru could integrate with more sources easily. There are ways to upload sources and there are some native integrations. I like the native integrations because they continue to update and refresh from the source, but we only use one today because those options are limited. I also would like to see more options in the card text editor, like for colors and highlighting. Maybe some themes even to keep everyone consistent. I would like to be able to exclude some cards from verification. Right now, we just push the date out as far as possible.

Guru Number 1

Reviewed a month ago

It's a knowledge management platform that helps teams store, share, and access important information. Users can create a centralized repository of knowledge that’s easy to search and update. The platform is designed to improve efficiency and ensure that everyone on the team has access to accurate and up-to-date information. It also integrates with various other tools and platforms, making it a versatile option for managing knowledge within an organization. Have you used Guru before, or are you thinking about trying it out?

Pros

One of the standout features of Guru is its ability to seamlessly integrate with other tools and platforms. This integration makes it easy for teams to access and update information without interrupting their workflow. Additionally, the intuitive interface and robust search functionality help users find the information they need quickly, which can significantly enhance productivity. The platform also offers features like real-time updates and knowledge verification, ensuring that the information remains accurate and reliable. If you're looking for a way to streamline information sharing and knowledge management, these aspects of Guru might be particularly appealing.

Cons

Too many recommendations once every time I used a search engine

"Guru: An Exceptional Tool for Streamlined Knowledge Management"

Reviewed a month ago
Pros

I started using Guru a few months ago, primarily to create content that my colleagues use as reference material. It is integrated into our working platform, and I have never needed to contact customer support because it is very user-friendly. The platform offers numerous convenient features, such as creating cards, following authors, and providing feedback on existing cards.

Cons

The only issue I have with Guru is the limited variety of formatting tools. However, there are a few ways to work around these restrictions.

Guru: River of Knowledge

Reviewed 2 months ago

I've been working here at Concentrix/Spotify for a few years (7, to be exact) and I can say our life was much more difficult without Guru. Before it, we had a knowledge base that was not user-friendly and was very heavy - it took a long time to load and looked like Wikipedia from 2005. When Guru came along, we benefited from a much lighter app, with a better interface and a possibility of retaining more information. Guru has helped a lot in our search for more knowledge, in a more practical and pragmatic way.

Pros

It's very user friendly. It works just like Google - all you have to do is having a keyword in mind and then you can find what you're looking for. Its The interface is visually pleasing - it's not cluttered, nor is it too simple. It's clean, interactive, fun. Not to mention its a very soft page/app.

Cons

The analytics part could've been better - it could deliver better results and more info about who acessed some card/collection and when.

Guru has revolutionized our customer care abilities!

Reviewed 2 months ago

As a T2 support agent for a growing software company in the volume photography industry, Guru has totally revolutionized our company's knowledge base and bolsters our abilities to provide better, personalized service daily!

Pros

Guru makes it easy for our global team of support agents to quickly and easily find information to better assist our clients. On the admin side, it's also very easy to compartmentalize info into collections, update existing info, and assign verifier status to qualified agents.

Cons

Guru has a learning curve for newer support agents that requires a bit of their time to learn and find their confidence with. However, once this initial plateau is crossed over, the process is easy and intuitive. The other gripe I have about Guru is that sometimes the browser extension does not load properly on a page and requires me to log out and back in.

The BEST Knowledge Base management tool your company will ever need.

Reviewed 2 months ago

Definitely a smooth experience. It reduces DRASTICALLY the need of escalating a problem, as any superior can simply write any possible outcomes for a specific situation on Guru. If you have a question, ask Guru!

Pros

Guru is a Google for companies. Everything we need to know about the products, workflow processes, and explanations about a specific company - you can just use Guru. This is so incredibly good to set expectations about how workes should do and behave, and it's also useful as a guide to always check when you're insecure about how to handle a specific workflow, or to be updated about what's going on...

Cons

Though it's intuitive, sometimes shared links can be counted as for private use, even though admin didn't set the Guru cards as private. Well, tech issues, nothing new in our Customer Support world.

My Experience with Guru card usage

Reviewed 2 months ago

Guru's capacity to link independent contractors with prospective employers worldwide and provide a variety of tasks across multiple industries is highly valued by its user base. The platform is frequently complimented for the flexibility it provides with regard to payment choices and project conditions, as well as its payment security features.Like every platform, Guru has its share of issues that could negatively impact the user experience, but it also provides employers and freelancers with useful services.

Pros

Guru offers a platform that makes it easy to locate independent contractors with a variety of specialties and abilities. Businesses can locate the ideal professional for a given project because to this diversity.Employers have flexibility with the platform's employment methods, which include fixed-price contracts and hourly compensation, depending on their project objectives and financial constraints.

Cons

Despite being competitive, Guru's fees are still an extra expense that companies and freelancers need to take into account. Particularly freelancers may receive much less than their billed fee after deductions. Even with a rating system in place, there is still room for wide variation in the caliber of work, which may need companies to invest more time in thoroughly screening applicants.

My experience with Guru Tool

Reviewed 2 months ago

My overall experience with Guru has been largely positive, especially in terms of improving the efficiency of internal communications and information retrieval within teams. Though it has a few drawbacks, such as occasional challenges with user interface navigation, its benefits in knowledge sharing and team collaboration outweigh these issues.

Pros

What I liked most about Guru is its ability to facilitate the sharing of expertise and knowledge among team members efficiently. Its knowledge management system is well structured, making it easy to access important information and reduce repetitive questioning.

Cons

What I liked least about Guru was its user interface, which can sometimes be less intuitive, especially for new users. It might take some time to get accustomed to navigating through its features and functionalities.

Great functionality but wish my team were more diligent about updating cards

Reviewed 3 months ago

Lays out step-by-step instructions on complicated processes and directs me to proper points of contact depending on situation

Pros

The search capabilities in Guru are great (unlike something like Outlook, for example). The "Users who viewed this card also viewed:" is incredibly helpful. I really like the clickable table of contents on the left-hand side of cards.

Cons

The only downside is that my company isn't great at staying on top of / updating cards. Would be great if Guru would notify card owners "it's been X years since this card has been updated" to prompt them to review and update. Alternatively, if there was an option for users to "flag" a card and notify the card owner that way.

Quick and simple solution for knowledge management

Reviewed 5 months ago

It is especially challenging for a new employee to stay up to date and retain all information related to product knowledge. Using Guru is very easy because you can quickly find any post or topic by simply searching for the relevant keyword.

Pros

Our internal support team's knowledge base is being organized with Guru's guidance. In addition to helping them with their workflow, it gives them the knowledge and confidence to trust the solutions they find.

Cons

When the dots are obscured by an arrow, making it difficult to see what you're looking for unless you click the corresponding drop-down arrow, which then reveals everything you were looking for, things get more complicated.

An overall great way to organize information as one single source of truth!

Reviewed 10 months ago

Overall we are very happy with the platform and features. It has really helped us align and eliminate conflicting information.

Pros

It's easy to create, easy to upload and easy to organize information in a useful and productive way. The AI search is also really useful for getting answers quick, as is using AI to help you create net new content.

Cons

The recommended cards on the dashboard aren't particularly useful for me, but overall there's really nothing to dislike.

Guru - my favourite knowledge management tool

Reviewed 10 months ago
Pros

Guru's formatting options mean it's easy to take a complex matter and break it down into highlighable points, as well as contain enough information for those not just looking for a quick answer to gain in-depth context on card topics. Team permissions mean people who only need entry level access to certain subject matters don't get swamped with context that can become overwhelming when trying to sort...

Cons

Most things I can think about being a slight issue with Guru has been solved in recent updates - some cards used to be huge and tough to read while on live interactions, but now AI can summarize a card, or answer questions directly about the point being discussed. The table of contents used to be manual, but now Guru has that feature built in. Devs are obviously super responsive to the needs of users. It's an ideal tool for shared knowledge management. The only thing left is being able to request permissions for a single card if referenced in another and you don't need permission to view the entire board, but you have a topic that needs the deeper knowledge, from the T2 cards when you're a T1 for example.

Guru is an outstanding software that is a necessity in any kind of work!

Guru makes my life at work much easier compared to other software that I used before. I would recommend this to other people and it is something that I would always brag to other people that is working in the same kind of industry where I am currently working. Honestly, I would also recommend this to other people who does not work in the same industry as mine. Kudos to Guru!

Pros

Guru is a user-friendly software that makes life of the user much easier whenever they need to use it. In my job, I always make sure I have my guru ready because this is our knowledge-based tool and whenever I need to search something, it is very easy to search what I need to look for. It is also very accessible.

Cons

The Knowledge Management Software that Filled in all the Gaps

Reviewed a year ago

Onboarding was amazing - everything is smooth and explained well.

Pros

Prior to Guru, we were using over 400 Google Docs, and the sharing, permissions, and document search were getting out of control. No one could find their docs - even inside their own department. Department Leads would just create a new Google doc when they couldn't find the old one - confusing the people who bookmarked the old one. No one knew how up-to-date the content was in our SOPs. Now, with Guru, everything is organized, data is kept up-to-date, and everyone can find the docs they need via a simple search. We also love the accountability of mass "announcing" new, or changing, SOPs and then holding people accountable to what they marked as "Read".

Cons

We cannot directly connect this to our project management system (Monday) which does create some double work.

Completely change how your team works together and searches

Reviewed a year ago

Guru has been a great help to us in many ways; its many features have allowed us to streamline our research and communication with one another; the fact that we can keep all of our relevant data in one central location and have easy access to it has saved us countless hours of work. Its cutting-edge artificial intelligence search tools have helped us find exactly what we need in record time.

Pros

We use it to conduct enterprise-level searches and handle large amounts of data using AI. Its intuitive interface and extensive feature set have allowed us to significantly improve the efficiency with which we share and retrieve information. The entire team has very well accepted this platform's ability to integrate with others because it allows everyone to work with the same data set without switching between different applications. Guru's powerful search algorithms and user-friendly interface make it easy to locate specific pieces of information even if we don't know their precise location.

Cons

Guru is expensive; however, the platform's many advantages outweigh its price, making it a wise financial investment.

Knowledge management made easy by a versatile well-managed tool

Reviewed a year ago
Pros

The learning process is shirt as there is a good backup of training videos, most features are intuitive, and the ability to collect knowledge from various users and make them keep it verified is important too.

Cons

Folder management can be better, analytics have gone in a very different direction than what is required. We need to know who is creating content individually, team-wise, and learn about gaps. I would like admins to have this functionality on their dashboards and not have to dig around to find that the team features do not really reflect performance. I would also like to reward my top performers with badges.

Guru is Essential for Remote Work

Reviewed 3 years ago

Guru has truly been a lifesaver for us, and has been so successful in our department that our entire company is now moving their knowledge bases to this platform. It is really easy to use and customize and organize, and I would recommend it to any company needing a centralized platform to hold information.

Pros

Guru is unbelievably easy to use and makes remote work a breeze. I cannot imagine training or being trained remotely without the use of this software. One of the things I love as an administrator is the ability for my team to make comments and ask questions on the Guru cards themselves. It helps me to update our resources in real-time. Another thing I love is that Guru will send a weekly digest that includes any unanswered questions, and a list of cards that need to be verified. Having reminders of this verification schedule ensures that we (the administrators) update any policy changes ASAP.

Cons

The only hesitancy that my team has around this software is that once you have made a comment or asked a question on Guru, it is permanent and cannot be erased. Often, people will use a different channel to ask questions around Guru cards because they don't want to ask a "silly" question and have that record there for all to see. I personally find all of those questions to be helpful in making our cards as easy to find and follow as possible, but I see why some might be shy to leave a permanent mark in the knowledge base.

Reviewed 3 years ago

We switched to Guru haven been impressed with the user interface , ease of organising content and speed. We had previous issues with loading times for searches or easily finding content. Guru has solved these issues and given our company a platform that everyone enjoys using.

Pros

With a few integrations available, we can for example see new articles created in our Helpdesk be automatically available in Guru. The integrations also include Zapier, which we allows a great deal of potential for automating.

Cons

For some elements of card (article) creation, the editor has certain limitations, there is no anchor for text so you can't quickly link from one section in an article to another.

Simple to use, easy to update, and way better than Google Drive

Reviewed 4 years ago

I've talked to our head of enablement and she's a big fan. It's not as powerful as a Seismic or ThoughSpot, but not sure if that's really an apple to apple comparison. If you need a better way to organize sales material, important internal employee info, (i.e. equity FAQs, or ERG information, etc.) than this is much more seamless and easily searchable way for your team. It will save them time vs. going down the rabbit hole in DRive, Dropbox or Box.

Pros

We use Guru from everything to HR, Finance and Sales. The "cards" are easy to set-up, they're time-stamped so you know they're up to date, and you can give a set of people admin access to make updates. For everyone else, they can leave comments and make suggestions so your data stays fresh and can be crowdsourced. I personally love the Chrome plug in, the search in Guru is really good and I rarely have trouble finding a card for whatever I'm searching for. One thing I also like is you can download the card content to PDF< this comes in handy when the content is customer facing, just 1-click and fire it out off in an email or copy the content and paste.

Cons

Like anything, the cards can get a bit out of control, it can be hard to update and integrations are limited. It's still much easier and simpler UI than just creating a bunch of folders in Drive. I personally like it much more than Concur as well.

Great tool for storing useful knowledge tools!

Reviewed 5 years ago

We use it to store our policies and procedures. Users can check here for updated info and remind themselves on a specific policy. If they need to they can star the card for future reference and leave comments to gain clarity.

Pros

Makes it easy for us to keep an information database for our staff to access on demand. It’s easy for admins to add edits and also allows users to comment and tag themselves in information that may need updating.

Cons

Nothing, it provides everything we would require in an info database and more. We switched from a different software for its ability to allow users to track and comment on cards
