Pros and cons

Guru has been super helpful in the past to look up quick pieces of info. Whether it's internal product knowledge or processes, or any other crucial tribal info, it's great to reference.
I love the user interface--it is perfect and I love easy-to-use software. Moreover, it is extremely intuitive with figuring out how to use the app and pull information from it.
As for my experience with Guru, I definitely love it, especially its features and how it helps me as a customer service representative.
I never used it it was so hard to search for information and I wasnt always sure that the information was up to date. Do not have these problems with Guru.
It's really a pain when you need to edit already existing cards.
What I like least, there hasn't been much that I've found with Guru that is bad. Only thing that has caused some trouble is the plug-in makes Chrome crash every so often.

A great tool and resource

Reviewed 2 months ago

Some companies have intricate workflows or, the information can be too much to memorize. Guru serves as a source of information. The fact that we can find everything in one click, that you can attach links, and photos and you can access similar cards, it's perfect!

Pros

It's intuitive, and user-friendly, and the best part is that by entering a key-word on the search bar you can find all the information about either a workflow or a products

Cons

So far I haven't found something I don't like about guru. It's a great app.

I like using GURU overall.

Pros

It's great to have a platform that is central and everyone can see and use the same information. This help keep our processes uniform.

Cons

Sometimes get hard to find specific cards. Not sure if it's due to the tags that are being used for search.

Cards being available in multiple board groups means we don't need to copy and paste knowledge around. Integrations with teams is used regularly.

Useability of GURU

Reviewed 2 months ago

Overall, the experience with Guru has been good for our organization. It has helped us achieve most of what we were looking for when searching for a solution. However, there is definitely some room for improvement in an enterprise environment.

Pros

Guru is an excellent way to maintain and adjust current procedures, guides, instructions for users. It's pretty straightforward for people who are creating the Guru cards.

Cons

1. The Text editing is a bit limiting and nuanced... you'll have to play with formatting to figure out how or if you can make your card look like you want it to. 2. You can't target card permissions very well. It's either open to the team creating cards, or the public. You can't target to specific groups of company users, or even "only" to people within your organization. Not finely tuned to work in an enterprise environment.3. There is no mechanism that you can give viewers to search cards unless they are part of the group creating them. A search window for all users would be fantastic. We've tried to create a table of contents card which is helpful, but it's a very clunky solution.

Using Guru as an employee working in an Accounting firm.

Reviewed a month ago

Guru addresses two key issues: access to information and convenience. As an employee at an accounting firm, we often encounter numerous queries, and Guru effectively streamlines our workflow by providing quick access to information, reducing the need to ask our colleagues for answers.

Pros

What I appreciate most about Guru is its invaluable assistance within our company. It serves as our primary resource for obtaining information regarding the company, our processes, and the services we provide.

Cons

I do not have any dislike using Guru but I think there are features that Guru can use for convenience.

More engaging than Confluence.

Reviewed 3 years ago

Overall, guru was able to Help share and disperse information to our entire organization. This also reduce the amount of repeat question asking.

Pros

Knowledge alerts. These allowed us to share information with the rest of the organization through guru and kept them updated with products announcements and support questions.

Cons

Set up was a bit labor-intensive but once you put the effort in it pays off and you’re well on your way. The dashboard layout could use some experience changes but for the most part it is intuitive and easy to use.

Knowledge management made easy by a versatile well-managed tool

Reviewed 2 months ago
Pros

The learning process is shirt as there is a good backup of training videos, most features are intuitive, and the ability to collect knowledge from various users and make them keep it verified is important too.

Cons

Folder management can be better, analytics have gone in a very different direction than what is required. We need to know who is creating content individually, team-wise, and learn about gaps. I would like admins to have this functionality on their dashboards and not have to dig around to find that the team features do not really reflect performance. I would also like to reward my top performers with badges.

Review for Guru

Reviewed 2 months ago

Its very useful and our company has titled heavily towards using it. Its useful.

Pros

The clean look and simplicity of use. It's fairly intuitive and I am able to generally find what I need. I dont know if its my organization or guru, but I feel like the first page/landing page for us employees when we first login could be laid out better where the new content draws the eye more, right now what draws the eye most is, in my estimation, useless information - highlighted boxes for "Total number of cards " Top verifiers" and "Top Authors" That should be under settings, Who cares,. Should not be the most prominent thing when I login to Guru. A Better layout in my estimation should be a Netflix style gallery of cards - two rows, one row on top 5 most searched cards for easy access, second row 5 newest additions. That should cover about 80% of our searches.

Cons

I don't feel like the search results are the best. They are good, but I do think they could be better.

GURU changes everything

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

Seamless: Guru fit right into our company needs seamlessly. We needed a centralized and organized hub for company and product knowledge and we able to, within a couple weeks, deploy it to everyone in the company. Company-wide Adoption: Everyone in the company uses GURU, from the CEO down to the sales team and support reps. We've reduced white noise and chatter in Slack by creating an easy way to...

Cons

Too many cooks in the kitchen: One of the things I've already seen in the past few months is what I call "too many cooks in the kitchen" syndrome. GURU allows you to set up product experts and card "verifiers" which allows for someone else in the organization to sign off that the GURU card you created contains accurate information. However, sometimes there are too many competing voices to sign off on that card with different ideas and expectations for what should be inside of that card. We are still creating documentation for what information we want to house inside of GURU cards and it is coming along. This is just one thing to be careful of; who controls the knowledge; who controls access to that knowledge?

Guru in a true sense

Reviewed 2 months ago

When dealing with a customer's query if I am unsure of a process, I have to check the relevant Guru card instead of looking for a subject matter expert or a supervisor, which saves a lot of time.

Pros

Guru is the go-to tool for any questions I have regarding the process. It comes in handy while dealing with customer queries and helps me provide accurate and relevant information to our members. Information on Guru is easy to access and the navigation is smooth and efficient.

Cons

The keyword search criteria can be improved.

Saves time for support, sales, and onboarding

Reviewed 5 years ago

I was introduced to Guru at the Elevate Summit conference, and my team has enjoyed it ever since. Our sales and support team rely on it heavily for saved responses to common issues and questions, and for communicating existing issues or procedures. We also use it for "tribal knowledge" which has made it much easier to onboard new hires. Overall, this tool has saved my team time and nurtured communication between ourselves and with our own selves from the past!

Pros

+ Easy, fast search for information through Chrome browser extension + Integration with Slack makes sharing or creating cards a breeze

Cons

- Verifying cards becomes daunting if you don't regularly groom the knowledge base

Very Useful for Businesses with Cohesive Work Efficiency

Reviewed 2 months ago
Pros

I love that it can be the same cards shared with multiple employees for training purposes. It helps address concerns in a cohesive manner so that all employees are trained with the same information. I also like how easily accessible it is, along with being able to favorite important cards that you can access even more quickly when needed.

Cons

It is not a bad feature, but I do forget to use the linked Guru cards at times when they are integrated with a specific task. I think that it is helpful when new employees are being trained, but sometimes it blocks information on my screen when I do not need it at the time.

Guru Card Review

Reviewed 22 days ago

It is the best of the best knowledge base management tools I've used in so many years in Customer Support.

Pros

It is the most unique storage of the knowledge base. I've had other KBs, and those are slow and inefficient, unlike these Guru cards, which have been so helpful to our production. I use Guru every day to make sure I am on the right track.

Cons

The guru link holds the first query you searched, so it's sometimes not appealing to look at

Sharing knowledge with new colleagues is so easy with Guru!

Reviewed a year ago

Guru allows us to onboard new staff relatively quickly and to share solutions to help new employees get a grasp on our work tools faster, and to troubleshoot their issues quickly, which is essential for a remote workforce where everyone works from home!

Pros

Guru provides us a "wiki-" type of solution, where the team can collaborate on knowledge management and provide valuable information for the team to use on a regular basis. The best part of Guru is the integration with Slack, making it fast and easy to search and bring up relevant Guru cards, and even share and post the same cards!

Cons

It was difficult to find a solution to provide limited access to consumers in our team who only needed to receive and read information rather than contribute to knowledge management, however the Guru team was able to help set up an affordable solution.
