Bring Back the Non-Cloud Version!

I've used Neat for six or seven years. Although the scanners were expensive, and I've had three because they fall apart, I liked being able to classify my receipts as I scanned them in, making year-end tax prep pretty easy, using the export to Excel function. The new cloud app they released this year is horrible! The functions I'd relied on, such as copying or splitting an expense or applying one tax category to multiple receipts at one time or the ability to customize the view of the desktop are gone. Assigning a tax code is a nightmare since you must figure out what tax Schedule the item belongs in before you scroll through even Canadian forms each and every time. Sometimes I scan in a receipt and it disappears - POOF. Other times I scan in a receipt and Neat changes it to a Document, then will change it back each time I try to make it a receipt. I've found dozens of files on the Cloud version of the app that are duplicates, and some that have no receipt images. The export is awful, and I cannot use a template to define the columns in my spreadsheet. ALL previous functionality that made Neat worth the cost are GONE, but the previous version of the software became unsupported and was no longer synching, so I had no choice but to upgrade. Seriously, this is ridiculous. I will be finding an alternative, even if it means buying a different scanner.

Pros
NeatDesk did make it easier to keep up with receipts and invoices for tax time, and its autofill/reader was usually pretty good

Cons
The NeatDesk unit itself wore out to the point that you had to slide the paper through just the right way to get it to scan, and their product support was not the best. They made it more difficult than necessary to get the files saved in a convenient format that didn't depend on their software/cloud subscription service.

Pros
I used Neat for years, owning more than one desktop scanner. My confidence fell apart when I moved to a Mac operating system. The scanner never works as with each IOS update the Neat engineers take months to adjust the Neat product to interface. I can’t really say anything good as I have a scanner that is non operational 90% of the time.

Cons
See above. Customer support has been less than supportive. Their advice Is to wait for the update or use the mobile app. If I had wanted to use the mobile app I wouldn’t have bought a desktop scanner.

Neat has problems. Been trying to get help from customer support for over a month. Seems customer support stops in a month unless you use there paid monthly plans. I think they are ignoring me so there is no support. There is no way I would buy the monthly service, since I cant get it to work. Why pay extra for something not working
