  • Collaborate on code: Backlog provides Git and Subversion repositories as well as a web-based repository browser with no installation required.

    Pros
Backlog helps us track progress from granular updates to larger-scale program reworking. The ability to integrate with Slack is also super helpful.
Email notifications are effective and clear. Icon personalization is a nice touch.
I liked the inclusion of the Wiki as well, and I like the tiered subscription model they use, making it easy to find a level of feature availability that suites your team's needs.
    Cons
I think Backlog shoud list parent issue and issue has no parent issue. About issue has parent issue, you can hide and when user click on the arrow, it can be showed.
The only thing that I would say that's negative is that it runs slow at times but I believe that's a result of our environment.
Nothing comes to mind at the moment as something to dislike.

A great app for any work with an active team

    Reviewed 4 years ago

We work in a research project for Artificial Intelligence in Games.

    Pros

I really like the fact, this is easy to add some issues and to follow any kind of problem. This is also really easy to assign an issue to someone.

    Cons

The different kinds of priority are not enough, that will be better to let the user define its own priority (high, normal and low are not enough sometimes to make the difference)

Robust & Reliable, if not totally customizable

    Reviewed 4 months ago

I mostly like Backlog and it has vitally always been reliable and available and easy to use. I wish it were much more customizable so it could be more readily adapted for the various types of work within the companies I use it with, but it's possible that this is an unreasonable expectation on my part and this simply isn't the tool for the that particular situation.

    Pros

Easy to pick up and use at a glance. Features are readily available in all UIs and their functions act predictably. I don't think I've ever felt the need to consult documentation, it just works as you expect.

    Cons

Probably part of what makes Backlog so robust is that is very specifically designed for a certain type of workflow and is not always as flexible as I'd like. For example, in Kanban mode (at least from what I can tell) there is no way to add or customize columns for different types of work (advertising copy, for example, has a much different lifecycle than software issue tracking). Likewise, for issue priorities there is only low/med/high and no room to customize for different environments or possibilities.

I use this software maintaining the offshore project from Japan, this software mostly good, never hang or shut down, because this software conduct the maintenance after the office work. Overall this software is good for maintaining the projects. Thank you

    Pros

    1. We can attach project file into the software. 2. We can track by the project category.

    Cons

The interface not so attractive, that's why Japanese people mostly like this software.

    Mostly better than Jira

    Reviewed 5 months ago
    Pros

The user interface is simple and easy to use. I often found myself lost when I used Jira previously

    Cons

Saving options requires a button click and does not happen immediately upon the field losing focus.
