Pros and cons

I like how user-friendly it is. When I do have a question about it, I love that you can easily chat with an Agent who is ALWAYS helpful.
Love the layover feature in order to do changeorders. Also love the ability to have many screens open for the same project in order to look at details.
I only used Stack for a couple of days, but I really liked the ease of the takeoff tools. It was very user friendly to navigate.
Terrible abominable customer service, unethical, dishonest thieves. Manager was the worst, she uses dishonest interrogation techniques to avoid any liability, fault and to escape offering any refund.
There also is no undo feature so when you make a mistake on a takeoff you have to delete it and redo the entire thing. There should be a ctrl z type undo feature.
I can't determine if its the software or the hardware of my laptop, but when I use it I find that the documents/image lags on medium to large files.

I Recommend STACK to all the constructional firms

Reviewed a year ago

In my view, STACK is such a masterpiece and a great advancement to TAKEOFF progression. The most important feature is the lightning-fast results in a half of a time as compared to other similar kind of software. The AUTOCAD style of drawings is one of the highlights of STACK especially the linear drop function with appropriate distances. In addition, this software is very easy to understand and even a person with basic knowledge of using web-based computer software can easily work on it.

Pros

Multitask operation in a single window Fast to navigate and accurate in results Easy to understand and use Takeoffs made easy and speedy

Cons

Offline version is not available Undo command must be available in upcoming versions

Great overall with small drawbacks for General Contractors

Reviewed 2 months ago

We are able to perform takeoff and develop material order sheets for self performed scopes of work using Stack. We are also able to verify subcontractor quantities for materials quoted/proposed to verify compliance with contract design documents.

Pros

The ability to create customize items and assemblies is essential for various trades. Accurate takeoffs and the ability to verify scales on screen is essential for accurate takeoffs. Stack does both of these well.

Cons

The lack of ability to export overlays of comparisons between different revisions of the same sheet is unfortunate. Takeoffs can be transferred from one sheet to another, but different versions of sheets cannot be excluded from overall takeoff without tedious renaming of each takeoff on sheet versions. i.e. - Bid set versus permit set; the ability to compare bid quantity and cost to final quantity and cost is not possible without creating separate projects for each or deleting the initial takeoff from the bid set. If both remain in project, quantities are cumulative and are included in the final report.

Reality vs Perception & Potential

Reviewed a year ago

Not any of our problems yet. Not any reason we bought it, has it created a solution for, but I still see how it can and hopefully will over time, and that is why I am still here. Well that and probably because I don't want to admit that maybe we should have waited till they had a finished product with the kinks worked out. while this may cause eye rolls... Put yourselves in our shoes. If a customer...

Pros

I liked the super awesome sales and teaching staff when they can be reached. the support staff excluding 1 that are available and pretty much only by email do not in any way provide the same level of connection, community, support, or personal touch the others do.

Cons

Since all the soft ware companies we reviewed over the last year follow the same pattern of, promise the moon before we buy, show us what it will look like when its finished, but cannot deliver what they promised when they were courting us, because they sell an incomplete project knowing we roped in for a year, it must be ok right? NO! IT'S NOT OK! I had to promise a kidney to get the [SENSITIVE...

Our partnership with Stack has a been amazing.

Pros

The simplicity of the takeoff software is great. A new user can be comfortable with the whole program in just a few weeks of use. The tools are powerful and intuitive to use.

Cons

Sometimes the simplicity has its drawbacks. Wouldn't mind more flexibility in symbol size and shapes.

Stack helped us develop our business

Reviewed 2 months ago
Pros

Stack was a user friendly software. It only took me helping one time when time was a crunch to become good at it, and from there I became the company expert. Developing and re-developing assemblies until we had a system that works and is easily understood. We went from taking upwards of 8-10 hours per estimate, to 2-4. That is more than worth it for time saved

Cons

Not being able to change numbers on a project level without going into the excel type worksheets or affecting the database. And not having an audit trail of when something was changed in the database. both have caused us problems with numbers needing to be changed for one project because we deal with highly customized scenarios, and then it changed all projects going back. And because we rely so heavily on assemblies, we cant just plug a new custom item in every time.

Material Distribution takeoffs

Reviewed 2 months ago

There is a learning curve but once you know the product the time savings and accuracy you get is great.

Pros

We use a small portion of the STACK Product to do takeoffs on roofing, Siding and Metal only. It is a service we offer to our customers and the time savings of doing it digitaly and not with a print and scales is priceless. We are at a point that we can now charge a fee for the service as well

Cons

We only use a small portion of the product but pay for the whole thing. It would be great if you could pay for only the segments you use.

The new update is not the most functional when it comes to creating the project on the calendrer.

Stack Attack

Overall, STACK has been a pleasure to use. As someone who has had little to no construction experience prior to this, STACK has really made me feel comfortable .

Pros

I love the ease of navigation. Everything is clearly labeled and easy to access.

Cons

Stack seems to be a little out dated as far as how it operates. It seems like more features could be automated.

Simple and Flexible

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

The ability to create involved assemblies of products and simply click to add all the right products for each situation is a serious time saver.

Cons

The product and pricing lists need to be easier to manage and update. We have pricing updates or new products about every quarter. To update that info is a hassle to do it one at a time or having to work through support to get an export then format all the new data then send it back to import it.

Job Cost Estimating

I have literally increased my productivity by 1,000% I am doing 10-times more bids and with much greater accurracy, no one questions my take offs.

Pros

The use of pop-ups when you "Mouse-Over" items is very effective, makes things very intuitive, lessens time-to-learn how to use the system.

Cons

Need to have more than 50 characters when naming take-off items, at least 100 characters.

Great software for complete project estimating.

Reviewed 2 months ago

The best and single most important is being able to show your work to build faith in your numbers.

Pros

The fact that the takeoff and estimating software is all in one. The automatic pricing allows you to quickly get accurate data that can be customized. The software gives construction professionals the option to be as transparent as they want to be with their data. Clients of mine have won many projects that they weren't the lowest bid, because their customers can see exactly what is included. This gives people faith that they are working with honest contractors that will not change order them by bidding low just to secure the work.

Cons

The BNI features that were included in the upgraded price do not reflect what was advertised by the sales staff when purchasing the software. Needs a lot of work especially in the assembly area.

Easy to use Estimating software!

Reviewed 3 years ago

We are bidding more projects then ever and Stack is an important part of the workflow.

Pros

We love stack for our takeoffs. Cloud service is an essential service as we like to open plans from multiple workstations and conference rooms. We also have multiple estimators who frequently work from home. This software is extremely useful for all of those circumstances. The software itself is intuitive and easy to use.

Cons

The only thing that really bothers me is just load speed of plans.

Nothing but positive.

Pros

All the takeoff tools available to us allow my team and I to not only perform takeoffs, but do simple shop drawings and sketches. There's always new technology available for no additional charge.

Cons

The only complaint I would ever have would be when OUR internet is slow, something the STACK doesn't control.

Stack Implementation into Speacialty Contrctor Business

Reviewed 4 years ago

First it controls the flow of information and the non-flow of paper in the office. This is the biggest plus. Secondly for me I can estimate much quicker once I get set up. Which gives me more time to look into the smaller details and ultimately create a better more accurate proposal.

Pros

Foe years I had thought about utilizing a symbol based estimating take off software because we were moving from paper to the digital world. I randomly found this online about 9 months ago. It is everything I would have done. It makes sense because it stores all your basis of the estimate information electronically and you no lounger have to use paper. The cost of Paper alone pays for the service...

Cons

For me it actually does everything I want it to do other than integration into actual building of estimates. I know that we have that capability but this a cost intensive project for each contractor. Obviously this is not a deal breaker though and perhaps in the future you could offer templates that are patterned after specific industries which would lower the cost of developing the complete estimating solution.

STACK is one of the most important players on our team!

Reviewed 2 months ago

The problems we're solving with STACK include material estimating for large scale retail remodels and large custom residential homes. It's important to know how much of what type of materials to order - not too much, and certainly not too little. STACK has helped us save money by not over ordering, due to the fees associated with returns.

Pros

I began using STACK with an employer that I had worked for several years ago. The ease of use, accuracy, and stellar customer support for the times I really needed it is why I have also decided to use STACK to perform estimations on my own for side jobs and have brought it along with me to my current employer for daily bidding and material takeoff use. I couldn't imagine going back to pen and paper.

Cons

Since STACK is constantly improving and rolling out new updates, I can't think of anything off hand that could be added or improved. There have been a couple of times that I called in with requests that were actually implemented into STACK, which really speaks to their attention to their customers.

STACK is open-source software used for creating online assessments in mathematics, science, etc.

Reviewed 7 months ago

he STACK software is highly regarded for its ability to handle various mathematical expressions and provide immediate feedback to students. Its randomized question generation and compatibility with popular learning management systems are also well-received. However, some users have found the software to have a difficult learning curve and challenging setup and customization. Nonetheless, despite these potential drawbacks, the STACK software is widely recognized as a valuable tool for both educators and students in creating and grading math assessments.

Pros

STACK software has several strengths, including its ability to handle various mathematical expressions and offer randomized questions and answers. It also provides immediate feedback to students, which is crucial for them to comprehend their errors and enhance their comprehension of the subject. Furthermore, its open-source nature and compatibility with popular learning management systems make it a practical tool for educators to use when creating assessments.

Cons

the STACK software has been identified as having some potential drawbacks or limitations. These may include a difficult setup process and customization, as well as compatibility issues with certain web browsers and operating systems. However, the STACK team typically responds to user feedback and provides updates and support to address these issues.

Great Takeoff Tool!

Reviewed 5 years ago

Overall Stack is great and is saving our company time & money! It took a little bit for additional users in our office to get up to speed, but they are cruising right along now. Troy and the guys in support always get back to me promptly. I've been using Stack for about 8 years now and couldn't be happier!

Pros

Cloud Storage, Takeoff Storage, Calendar, Accumulating Units of Measurement, Customer Support, Copy/Paste, Upload Times, Legend, Highlight, Labels, Auto-load from Smartbidnet ITB's, able to view takeoffs from mobile version & able to view other user's takeoffs on our account.

Cons

Going through the plan pages seems cumbersome at times. I wish Stack could go back to the Cloud Takeoff Silverlight version, much better UI. Not being able to reorganize the plan sheet tabs by a left click and drag, have to close each one of them down and then go through the correct page sequence to display in the order you want. Chrome issue of having to multi select every item you want to quickly delete. Not being able to share a takeoff instantly, instead we have to download the plan into a PDF and send the PDF.

Easy to use. Great Product!

Pros

Stack is a great product for doing takeoffs efficiently and at a great price. The features that come with it are great, and they are constantly adding new ones. I love the fact that you get immediate attention from the developers whenever you have a question or comment. The only thing better than their product it the customer service!

Cons

It can be a little buggy when using different browsers. If I remember correctly , I was using Firefox and had problems, they told me to switch to Chrome, and when I started getting comfortable with Chrome I started having issues and they told me to switch to Firefox! I currently use Chrome, and there can occasionally be a little bug here or there (ex. trying to select one of my items to edit - hint: use the multiselect!).
