What is Device42?
Device42 is a cloud-based software solution for IT infrastructure management and the comprehensive administration of networks and data centers. Promising automation over typical paper-based, manual and often less accurate methods, administrators should expect greater infrastructure visibility thanks to continuous, scheduled discovery and configuration management database (CMDB) updates. Detecting changes as they occur in order to mitigate IT network alterations whether planned or unexpected, companies can establish inter-dependencies between devices and applications alike while device rack diagrams and even server room layouts all provide intuitive representations of real world setups.
Additionally, Device42 offers full IP address management with support for IPv6, cable management for handling patch panel connectivity and also inventory management with QR coding. Customizable codes with automatically assigned asset numbers can be printed as labels in batch and scanned for inventory tracking purposes from mobile devices. An audit log records any change made by authorized admin users, which extends to AES256 encrypted password management with access auditing and multi-level role-based permissions. Other features go on to span software license management, power controls, environmental monitoring, impact charting, switch port visualizations, DNS record handling, reporting options and CSV-based data import/export.
