User insights about the gradebook feature

Reviewers appreciate Moodle's Gradebook for its transparency and organization in tracking academic performance. They find it easy to use and manage, with the ability to export grades as Excel files. Users highlight the automatic creation of grade columns for assessed items and the convenience of comparing results with class averages. However, some mention issues with customization and grading consistency. The Gradebook is valued for helping students identify strengths and areas for improvement, and for its overall usefulness in tracking progress.
“One of the features that I like about Gradebook in Moodle is that it allows me to track my progress and performance in different courses and activities. I can see my grades, feedback, and completion status for each assignment or quiz. I can also compare my results with the class average and the course expectations. Gradebook helps me to identify my strengths and areas for improvement, and to plan my study goals accordingly.”

CANVAS logo

User insights about the gradebook feature

Reviewers appreciate Canvas's Gradebook for its ease of use and flexibility in organizing grades by section, course, or assignment type. They find the real-time updates and ability to view grades immediately very helpful. Users highlight the SpeedGrader tool for efficient grading and feedback. They value the visual elements like color-coded graphs and multimedia feedback. However, some users mention the system can be confusing and has extra steps for certain calculations. Integration with other systems is noted as beneficial.
“GradeBook is one of my favorite features. It forms a grid of students for each assignment, wherein we view their grades. There is a button called SpeedGrader that opens a view for grading every student's assignment and giving a feedback. It really helps to have so many features loaded into the gradebook already. It makes the grading a cake walk.”

“The gradebook allows me to separate different types of assignments and calculate overall grade. The only negative is that there are extra steps involved when trying to calculate quarter grades...it is designed for semester grades. ”

User insights about the gradebook feature

Reviewers appreciate Google Classroom's Gradebook for its ease of use and real-time updates. They find it helpful for tracking student progress and providing transparency. Users highlight the integration with other systems and the ability to export grades. However, some mention the need for improvements in grading categories and syncing with district systems. They value the automatic grading of quizzes and the ability to publish grades when ready. The centralized grade tracking is seen as beneficial for both students and teachers.
“The way the gradebook works on both side works balanced and very well, as we get are grades immediately as our teachers release them with no problems. From what I know of the teacher side, it emails then as soon as we turn in an assignment, it tells them whether we turned it on time depending on whether a due date was set. It can also connect to other sites for grading and it will automatically set a grade in Google Classroom, but this depends on your district or county has or pays for those materials. The feature is very critical in school as it is the sole goal behind school, which is to make good grades and Google Classroom tool makes it very easy for both students and teachers.”
