How we picked the 5 top rated products

We chose the high-performing solutions on this list based on verified user ratings on our site. Depending on available data, qualifying products either had to be among the most user-reviewed or the most searched-for products in the Electronic Medical Records software category. They also needed to have sufficient reviews about charting, have a minimum user rating of 3 out of 5 for that feature, and show evidence of U.S. market presence. We then added a distinction for up to three products based on our proprietary ratings and reviews: Highest rated, Highly rated for charting, and Highly rated for free version. Sponsorship or client status has no influence on the selection of these products, but it may impact the order in which products appear.

“It is so easy to access a patient's chart, view the patient's last visit, recent activities, lab order, prescription, medications. It provides easy complete access to the patient's medical records. It is so easy to create patient cases or create orders for a medication refill as well as access what lab orders and medications were provided to the patients as well see what the Doctors Notes during the patient's visit.”

User insights about the charting feature

Reviewers feel that Tebra's charting capabilities are user-friendly and easy to navigate, with templates that simplify documentation. However, they mention that the system can be cumbersome and laborious, with limited formatting options and difficulty in customizing forms. Some users also report poor technical support and issues with the note section.

See related user reviews

“There are plenty of templates full of irrelevant parameters. But try a really simple thing like being able to see the reasons for the last few visits when you open the chart? Forget it, until you select "notes", and then select each note in turn, a laorious process, you have no idea what is going on. ”

User insights about the charting feature

Reviewers appreciate TherapyNotes, LLC's charting capabilities for their ease of use and efficiency. They report that the dropdown menu for various types of notes and the ability to have supervisors sign off on clinicians' work are valuable. However, some users mention the lack of customization options and the absence of necessary audit fields, which can be cumbersome.

“TherapyNotes has a dropdown menu for various types of notes. I document everything, so being able to write a contact note is valuable. In addition, the software makes it possible to have identified supervisors sign other clinicians' work. This is especially valuable for clinical supervisors and pre-licensed clinicians.”

Robin M.

Clinical Associate

“It does not follow a medical SOAP format and has very poor continuity of charting. Defaults are not programmable. Necessary audit fields are not present. You will have to remember what to put into your notes and there are no cues for the necessary audit points for telehealth. You cannot add fields. It is NOT for medication management providers. You will lose a lot of time charting and miss important details.”

User insights about the charting feature

Reviewers find ezyVet's charting capabilities user-friendly and efficient, especially with customizable templates that save time. They appreciate the ability to chart on any device and the integration with TalkingVet for dictation. However, they note that dental charting can be clunky and time-consuming, and the system requires too many clicks for data entry.

See related user reviews

“The template feature allows every hospital, veterinarian, and staff member to have custom made records that are re-usable and personalized. It makes doing charts seconds vs minutes. ”

Erin B.

Owner

“The ability to have templates that are pre-configured to my specific exam and treatment criteria are major time savers. I just started using TalkingVet for dictation that integrates well and should have even more ability to automate my record keeping. The image notation feature is something new that I have started using. This feature is proving helpful to document chiropractic adjustments that are unique to my practice and better communicated in my reports to referring veterinarians and owners. ”
