Social Media for Professionals

Pros

Linkedin is fantastic because it has helped me discover professionals that have networked with me and gotten me through the right windows in my career.

Cons

People often treat it like facebook. Lots of memes, political posts and questionable shares. The benefit is you can unfollow those users but it can get tedious.

Just Decent

08/02/2017

Use this app occasionally for work purposes. Use it to access inMail when I am on the go. It has partially met my needs, I wish the interface would look more like the desktop version to limit confusion when navigating.

Pros

The LinkedIn app is usually faster than many of the other apps I use for business. Many other apps are very laggy and take longer to load.

Cons

It's difficult to navigate because it is so different than the desktop version.

Really helpful for job seekers or ones who want to expand their working network.

17/09/2016

Well I personally joined LinkedIn when I did not have a job. I was a seeker, I was looking to get attention and be noticed by the larger companies which roamed online looking for applicants. I had a friend who's primary job was to look for staff and he referred me LinkedIn. It is amazing. I wanted to test out it's full potential so I signed up as a job seeker, to get premium, to be featured. Within a few days after setting up my account, I began generating a lot of views to my account. A lot of agencies tried mailing me, looking to get into touch until I found one which was near to me, offered what I loved to do, and the money was considerably enough for me. It is a bit too complex for beginners to start with but once you get past that phase, you usually end up loving, getting used to the functionality of the website.

Pros

Lots of features. Really helpful for those who come to seek jobs or even for organizations that are hiring.

Cons

I would have to comment on the fact that it surely is complex, a bit too complex for ones who aren't as much exposed to computing.

So many features that i am still learning!

06/09/2016

LinkedIn has really helped me grow as a professional and allowed me to network at the click of a button. I am able to connect with colleagues around the country. I go to conferences a couple times a year, and as I meet new individuals from different institutions, I am able to add them on LinkedIn and really stay in touch. Recently, I have utilized the group function of LinkedIn. We went to a conference, and afterwards created a LinkedIn group to stay in touch and talk about trending topics in the realm of higher education.

Pros

Customization, LinkedIn Groups, and Ease of Use for a terrific value is great.

Cons

I haven't run into anything i would change yet.

Excellent Way to Grow and Manage Your Network

19/05/2016

LinkedIn has helped me to grow and expand my professional network. I use it every single day to identify people and companies that I would like to work with and do business with. It is a useful software and app, and it has several features (and upgrades) that help me to be more productive. I have seen other apps try to emulate LinkedIn, but LinkedIn is the premier tool for expanding a professional network. I can see how it would be very useful in social media marketing, sales, and increasing lead flow. Overall - LinkedIn is excellent.

Pros

One of the clear pros is the ability to grow my network around the world. Working as a Full Desk Recruiter, I am constantly networking with people in different areas of the country. LinkedIn makes this efficient. It is almost a never-ending resource for expanding a professional network. It has good search tools, a good messaging system, and it allows users to make (some) upgrades at a reasonable cost.

Cons

One of the main cons is that heavy users of LinkedIn must essentially upgrade to a new LinkedIn product, and that will cost money. The more expensive upgrades for Recruiters is called LinkedIn Recruiter, and it is quite expensive. However, there are other options that are not so expensive, and they are fairly good options, even for the heavy user.
