Pros and cons

I really like how simple it is to use and the technical support that is available when I need it. And I really like that it is very affordable.
This software allows you and your clients to track payments made as well as outstanding payments. Customer service is VERY helpful.
Aside from it's how easy and useful TUIO is, I believe the best part of it was their customer service.
Can't imagine going back to post-dated cheques and always losing track of payment deadlines.
Not all payment history is provided. Previous payment history is missing.
Also there were many instances where the invoices were delayed in being processed and showing up in our tuio inbox.

TUIO's Customer Service is Stellar and Their Software is Fairly Intuitive!

Our overall experience has been very positive. We enjoy the professional and friendly rapport we've established with TUIOs support staff.

Pros

I love the fact that customer service is easy to access when needed. They have been quickly responsive and attentive to our needs. Plus, their tech team is always pleasant to work with. The features and functionality that might have been lacking when we 1st started using TUIO have been greatly improved. These new features have been immensely helpful to the staff who use the software AND for parents who pay their tuition/fees. I truly think they listen to their customers when it comes to adding new features.

Cons

The initial training was a slightly difficult as it was too fast paced for a 1st time learner and difficult to understand the French-Canadian accent of the trainer.

Great customer support

Pros

The software is easy to use and intuitive. Customer support is very accessible and typically has answers to questions in a timely manner. I've often used the chat when needing support and almost always I get the answer that is needed and when it is not I usually get a follow up when issues are identified.

Cons

Integration was not difficult at all and someone was always available if I had any difficulty. Perhaps a more comprehensive account interface might be a little easier. For example: Parent as the account holder and children listed under each parent instead of each child has their own account and is associated with each parent. I can describe it more if you wish to contact me.

What you described in terms of the interface is already native in the software by using the 'Parents' tab you can view the parent account holder and all associated students that they have. You can even use the 3 vertical dot menu to view the related students and enrollments. Enrollments on TUIO are always a student enrolled in a program. Switching ASAP even though I paid for a year up front. Would not recommend.

Pros

N/A - I don't like the software. Parents didn't like to use it either.

Cons

Parents hated using it; QB integration wasn't easy at all; payments took much longer to be received than promised

It is close but not there to be called my one-stop shop. Hope to continue seeing new features being released.

Pros

Ease with which we can take care of all our invoicing and payment processing.

Cons

Have been giving feedback to the TUIO team re: make available enhanced ability to send emails to our clients directly. Currently using 'Mailchimp'. Other small features such as ability to 'Export' data from different tabs.

Thank you for the review Harpinder. We added the export option on the student, parent, enrollment, and registration tabs in addition to the 'Invoices' tab export we had previously. So we took care of that for the most part. We are going to add a combined student/parent export as well going live this week! We will work on the second iteration of the conversations system to add the email and text message options. Hopefully when those are live we can get the "5 star" review!

Par Excellence I Chose TUIO

It’s absolutely a privilege.

Pros

TUIO is a paramount tuition management system which allows me to centralize all enrollment, wait list, billing and payments. It provides in real time a precise picture of what is going on in my business - financially. I am able to communicate well with clients and they love making their payments monthly on TUIO. It’s an integral part of my school now.

Cons

The only criticism about TUIO is the fee that our clients pay when using their credit card. Many who have have switched to an alternative method of payment.

Thanks for the great review Natalia! If parents prefer to pay by bank account, they have no fees. Credit cards incur fees for processing from the card issuing banks and you are passing them on to the parents, which is an option of course.

Simple tuition management service

Pros

Very quick onboarding and simple low pressure barrier to get started. Software itself is simple and cleanly designed and straightforward to use. We really liked the ability for families to manage their own payment methods and choosing a plan that suits them best. When they run into issues, they are able to reach out to TUIO's support directly which saves us a lot of overhead time. We are a learner-driven community and this allow us to live to that promise and not to need too many staffs to support the back office.

Cons

Some UI/UX elements were confusing especially a new family is onboarded through the system. Given it's a startup company, we trust that they'll be able to hammer out and make improvements frequently.

Pros

This product is very useful and helps manage all payments that have been paid or are outstanding.

Cons

There can be difficulty in parents setting up their accounts, receiving notifications or accessing their account. Debit fees taking 3-4 days to process also hinders progress.

Thanks for the review Hammna. Similar to a payment by check, bank account payments take a few days to clear as paid. Oftentimes you'll receive the funds earlier than that, it's when it's marked as Paid on TUIO that is another factor unique to the banking system. Support is available to your parents as well, we welcome you sending them our way to help.

We struggled with setup - it was mid year and we were transferring data by hand to get up and running in a hurry.

Usage of Tuio payment portal

Overall with have had a good relationship with TUIO. Both [SENSITIVE CONTENT] are very quick to respond to our questions with helpful answers.

Pros

This payment portal allows our parents to securely pay the tuition in a timely manner. They receive the invoices directly from the TUIO portal.

Cons

I wish our International parents were able to access the payment portal.

Thank you for the great review Helen! Your international parents can by all means access their TUIO account and they can also make a payment in the portal with their credit card. Only bank account payment is unavailable to them but if they wire funds from an international bank to you, you can mark their invoices as paid on TUIO so they can keep track otherwise.

Game-changing admissions and enrollment software

Aside from it's how easy and useful TUIO is, I believe the best part of it was their customer service. Every time I had an issue with something, they were responsive via email within 24 hours (usually a couple of hours) and would call and reach out when the issue is complicated. They are also quick to improve their software, as I remember suggesting to them how annoying it is for schools to be charged NSFs, and they took it out for us. Great communication with their community!

Pros

Extremely easy to set up and use for administrative and user side with a clean UI. Easy to organize, categorize and search through the database.

Cons

They could allow the administrators to have more access to setting up payment methods, but I understand why they restrict it.

Would never go back or choose another company after using TUIO

Amazing. From the software to the employees to the designers, they are just amazing. If i have a problem or even a parent thats had a problem they email in minutes or jump on the chat if you need them. They are always available. That is not something you find often. Other companies, you wait days to get an answerr or even wait on hold for hours. Not this company.

Pros

It is easy to use. Easy to navigate. There are always positive changes to this software and always making it better for our business and easier for our parents.

Cons

I can not find anything i DON'T like. Im not sure anyone would find anything they didn't like.

Easy to use.

Overall, it has been a very positive experience using TUIO and working with the support team.

Pros

Once we were trained to use TUIO, it was an easy transition. We are able to set up payment plans to allow the parents to set up their accounts at their own convenient time, reducing our time on working on school payments.

Cons

TUIO is continuously improving their software and at this time, we are just learning to navigate the new features so I can't really comment on what I least like about it. But when we do come to something that we are unsure about, we ask for assistance and the help is immediate so we are thankful for the service we receive.

Pros

I love not having to chase parents for money as much.

Cons

I wish you could duplicate an existing program. Our programs are often very similar in dates and wording, so it would be helpful to just have to go in, duplicate a program, and update the pricing as needed.

Thanks Gillian, creating new programs should not be time consuming but we are working on a feature to duplicate programs. The only thing you would have to check would be the payment plan dates and amounts of course. The app we have is SaaS so a trick we use is to duplicate the tab that way you can copy and paste the information from old program over to the new program.

Great system for a small to medium sized school

Reduce paper processing; collect payment efficiently

Pros

Ease of enrollment and distribution of other forms during the school year

Cons

The payments take 3 days to process.The implementation was not particularly easy for me because I have minimum support internally and the support at TUIO assume that I am well versed already. However it worked out fine and I now know how to navigate the portal.

Only the bank account payments take 3 days to mark as paid, but the funds often settle in your account before that- once the invoice shows 'Payment in Progress' you can usually treat it as a payment made by the family. Credit card payments are instantaneous and go to Paid right away if successful. Payment by bank account online is similar to payment by cheque/check, and the funds take some time to clear. Great Support

The support Tuio offers is exceptional. They are always available to answer questions and seem intent on improving their product. We are very happy with Tuio.

Pros

This is an affordable online payment system for my small preschool. I no longer have to collect checks and deposit them at the bank. It saves me valuable time.

Cons

It is not always easy to use. As an administrator, a few steps complicate using it—for example, the link between parent and child is not seamless.

Tuio is easy to use from both as an administrator and as a parent. The onboarding and ongoing customer service is excellent.

Cons

No role-based permissions. Some formatting could be customizable.

The role-based permissions should be live first half of this year, we just need to map them out in the system, it's a rather time consuming component because of all the testing required. We will look to add more formatting and templates when we have the second iteration of the conversation system with the broadcasting features like email and text. Coming soon!

We are happy with the product.

Pros

We like that everything is one place. We like that we not longer have to collect fees. Customer service has been timely and helpful.

Cons

We would like it to be easier to create forms, maybe some templates we could choose from.We would like parents to be able to use debit cards.We had some difficulty uploading. We had to have help getting our contract and handbooks on line. It seemed to be an issue with Google Docs.

Thanks for the great review Amy. The forms learning curve is a bit steeper than the usual features, but you'll get the hang of it. Glad you took us up on the forms support to get started. Parents can use debit cards, if they have a virtual debit card they are welcome to use it! Otherwise they can pay bank account which is coming from the same source.

So far it has been quite well.

Pros

It is easy to use. Customer service is great. Onboarding was a breeze. Great alternative to FACTS/Renweb for a small startup private school.

Cons

Would like to see it integrate a little easier with accounting software for nonprofit IRS reporting.

Need more notifications about payments not processing or someone removing their payment method

Thank you very much for taking the time to review Najib. It's always a balance between what is needed to be sent to you from automated messaging as we would not want to bombard you with emails. In one of our latest releases the ability to remove an active enrollment payment method without switching to a new method first was removed actually which would solve what you mentioned. The data about pending payments and receivables is available on demand in the software whenever you need it. With that said, we will take a look at adding some more notifications or alerts in the online app.
