Pros and cons

I am extremely happy with Kickserv. There is a bit of a learning curve but I am very pleased.
They have excellent customer service that we have found to be responsive and personal. I would recommend Kickserve to anyone looking for a cost effective and well designed customer management system.
If you need help or have questions, tech support is always there ready to help. Actually, a rep called me after signing up to see if I needed help or had any questions and right then, I thought WOW.
The APP has always been very poor and its so hard to use, we've never been able to use it the past 2-3 years because of how poor it is.
Editing estimates does not work correctly. There are problems with payment capturing in Kickserv.
The company has horrible customer support took over a month to correct their error and after multiple calls no response, cannot not recommend to anyone.

Get your DISPTACH house in order

Reviewed 5 years ago

We have been with Kick Serv through a lot of growing pains. As a "non techy" person, I was very frustrated in the beginning but now have become a believer that THIS IS a great program for our growing business. I am looking forward to see which upgrades are coming for 2019. (Allow techs to search for specific job numbers in the field, colors change as job phases are uploaded with new people assigned to same job, adding the use of our standard quote forms, time sheet management)

Pros

Able to track all incoming calls with a glance at calendar screen. See every tech (color coded) daily, weekly and monthly. Track days off, vacations, in a glance, with customer on the phone!

Cons

Still no way to automatically change color coding as each phase of a project is completed and we need to add different tradesmen to the job. We have to "open" each job BEFORE we schedule a tech to see if he/she is already assigned to an ongoing job.

Vendor response

Hello Cyndi, Many thanks for the abundance of positive feedback. And as always the suggestions to make our product better and more user friendly is what we thrive on here. To quickly gather what jobs a technician or tradesman is on go directly to our Jobs index page and use the "assign to" filter. Ping me back from within the app if you'd like to discuss this idea further. We are here to help.

The best software for new or mid size businesses

Reviewed 10 months ago

I love it. I would recommend to everyone! Very good software.

Pros

Customer service is the best whenever you need help they are here for you. Easy to manage and very helpful everywhere (office, on a field)

Cons

Some features they are on PC but not on mobile.

Vendor response

Hey Tomasz, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with a wonderful review along with the feedback regarding the mobile app. We are always looking for ways to improve our mobile app experience. If you have a feature in mind that you'd like on the mobile app that's not currently available, definitely reach out to our support team at Support@kickserv.com and they can assist you with your feature request. Thank you again for your review and continued support. :)

The old system service psychic was very useful and user-friendly. The new software is terrible.

Reviewed 6 years ago

During the service sidekick years, many. During the kick serve years nearly 0 other than scheduling.

Pros

The calendar is the biggest strength of this program. I like being able to use colors for different types of jobs. Also when you move something on the calendar it automatically updates. Our new software does not do that and I miss it. Service psychic used to be very easy to add people into the system and get them scheduled. Kick serve was not. The quick add was a great function when we were at tradeshows or when you're on the phone with a customer.

Cons

The reporting is near worthless. None of the reports are ever accurate, and trying to get someone to help you make them accurate was like banging your head against a wall. The system was incredibly unreliable It is constantly going down. For a web-based system, businesses rely on its functionality during business hours. We had many days of inability to use the system. They're always seem to be some reason why it crashed. The system was much much better when it was service sidekick. We had to build a salesforce software system because it was so dysfunctional. The customer service was also incredibly bad.

Vendor response

We migrated hundreds of our original customers from our legacy system to Kickserv starting in April 2017 through May 2017. We inherited some issues that we certainly should have anticipated or planned for. We did find a couple processing issues bringing on all those older accounts so quickly. We have since cleared those problems and added many more resources to handle much more growth. We sincerely apologize to all our loyal customers for enduring those weeks of processing delays.

Great for starters and small businesses!

Reviewed 10 months ago

Overall, for the price, I am happy. I recommend Kickserv to anyone getting started with their business. Small businesses, especially! I will continue to use Kickserv- they are constantly doing updates to fix little bugs here and there.

Pros

This software is user-friendly for the most part. It provides all the basic features you need to schedule, create a work order and assign to employees, invoice customers, and sync to your accounting system.

Cons

I mostly suggest the technician app be updated. I have found that 100% of my technicians are great at labor work, but not so great at navigating apps and using phones. Maybe even just offering more education/user guides for techs would help. Also, wish there was more of a way to have intercommunication between departments; assign tasks to office team, to do lists, etc

My pocket assistant...

Reviewed 10 months ago

Kickserv helps me solve a problem or answer a question daily, whether it's using it to read the estimate or navigate to my appointment.

Pros

Kickserv is a very user friendly product I had no experience with prior to my current position. Without Kickserv, the learning curve would have been much...curvier. This allowed me quickly find which projects I needed to collect on and which ones I could start immediately. I could also refer to my contact list and projects so I didn't have to rely on paper files or memory.

Cons

I would like it to be more automated on calls and emails made through Kickserv to capture the email or conversation and last touch.

Web vs app

Reviewed 10 months ago

I use Kickserv daily with estimates and putting a job together. I enjoy that when I schedule a job it notifies the customer when the scheduled job is and what time. It also explains what it is we are coming to the residents for. Communication is key.

Pros

I liked the fact that the browser I'm able to control all my jobs in one place. I'm able to go to the kickserv and go to my customer and go right to his address and maps to the residence as well as press on the phone number and it call right from the customers information.

Cons

The one thing I don't like is that the app and the web browser is inconsitence with one another

Exceptional

Reviewed 10 months ago
Pros

I like the calendar, the scheduling and invoicing. I also like the fact that you can recall your customers yearly maintenance appointment by the month. The most important for me is that the technicians when are on call, if the office is closed they have access to Kickserv to check a clients history.

Cons

That we had to pay extra for the clients recall. They have since changed that to a lesser monthly fee.

Service based business software for the little guy!

Reviewed 10 months ago

Kickserv gives me everything I need to run my business. My customers can request quotes from my website using the embedded contact form, I can manage scheduling, create invoices, track repairs and even share regular updates with my customers through the customer center.

Pros

Kickserv makes it easy to create customer databases, work orders, schedule repairs and invoice customers. It’s the easiest to use that I’ve found and covers everything that a new business needs on a day-today basis.

Cons

There is no ability to log cash or check payments in the free version.

2022 Kickserv year in review

Reviewed 10 months ago

Kickserv has kicked butt. It does almost everything we need. It is easy to use so even new hires are up and running with minimal instruction with regards to the app. The customer service is some of the best I have experienced.

Pros

The ease of use for everyone from administration to the in-the-field techs. And the customer support is simply awesome. I have yet to have a question that was not answered quickly and correctly.

Cons

I wish there was a way for us to track specific product history with regards to sales/service.

5 year user of Service Sidekick now KickServ

Reviewed 7 years ago

Service Sidekick was a great product, they now forced all of their customers to Kickserv. They did the changeover at 10am on a weekday when it was scheduled for 10pm. We were down all day and received no apology. The changeover broke several systems. It no longer syncs to quickbooks correctly. When a task is made for someone it no longer tells people who made it and the Kickserv team is basically AFK.

Pros

I like how easy it used to be to use. If I had to buy the new kickserv I would run away screaming

Cons

Terrible interface. Terrible tech support. Very slow. Incredibly convoluted. First you make a job with charges, then you have to "generate an Invoice" from that job, then you can enter a payment, then after entering that you can mark it paid, then after doing all of that you can mark the job complete. What a nightmare. Customers are syncing to the wrong customers in Quickbooks, which has caused an accounting nightmare.

Vendor response

As you mentioned, the upgrade process did not go as planned. Your upgrade was completed later than expected, due to an unforeseen issue with another account's upgrade. We're truly sorry this happened. After the upgrade, we discovered that you had recently changed your QuickBooks sales tax codes, which inadvertently left 97 of your 4997 customers without a proper sales tax code. We reset your sales...

Great customer service every time!

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

This software is easy to use and some really great features... I like that I can drag appointments from one day to the next if needed. And contact customer service if needed easily.

Cons

I wish there were more alerts that would come up - such as an alert that will come up when scheduling someone that has an open balance so that we can let the customer know when scheduling, also what would be really helpful is if there was an alert that pops up stating that there is already a scheduled appointment open for that customer to avoid potentially double booking a customer (sometimes a wife...

Vendor response

Hello Leeann - thank you for your time and feedback. To help avoid duplicate bookings our best practice is to search customers by street address prior to booking. Street addresses are very unique and will display any prior events for that location.

Kickserv has been a valuable addition to our business. It helped our company become more streamlined

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

The calendar and resource views and functionalities are the best features of Kickserv. We have 7 vehicles on the road and we need to know where they are and how each job went. Kickserv allows us to communicate in a cloud based system that all of our techs can access in real-time. When a change is made to the calendar, all office staff can see it. Technicians can leave job notes before they leave the job site, and customers can pay online after they are invoiced by email. The newer look of KickServ was a real step up from the original Service Sidekick. It has grown with us and continues to get better everyday. It has really begun to feel like we have a real business and we are happy with the way KickServ has grown into theirs as well.

Cons

The technicians cannot see the description of charges in the itemized list of charges while using the mobile app on their phones. Some issues with recurring jobs - I have found that most of the issues get resolved as soon as we mention them to the KickServ customer service team. If there is an answer, the team is willing to try and find it. When KickServ lags or goes down it slows our company down to a crawl. It was worse before, and only keeps getting better.

Simple, affordable work managment software

Reviewed a year ago

I tested several work order managment products before choosing Kickserv as my platfoem. Makes scheduling, timecards, and customer history a non headache for me and my business. Totally love the product!!

Pros

Kickserv is great for customer managment. Easily see past and future work orders for all customers. Love the ability to add attachments to customer profile and work orders. Great database.

Cons

I have no dislikes. I would like to have the ability to select which items are shared per work order via the customer portal.

Hey Braeden, 10/10, all the stars, and no dislikes! We are grateful for the review. We are glad to hear that you love our product and that Kickserv is meeting your expectations. Good experience overall, customer support time is frustrating tho...

Reviewed 6 years ago

We boost productivity big time with this software!

Pros

This software offers great functionality and customization, so far has been the one that adapted the most to our requirements. New functionalities are added on weekly basis which is really nice. Price is very accessible for small business. Is easy to use once that you get the grip on it which takes time because some stuff is somehow counter intuitive, I seriously recommend getting the paid support/training sessions otherwise you will get very frustrated. integration with QB and use of credit card payment is solid.

Cons

Customer support time is frustrating, they take at least several hours to get back to you then sometimes they will reply and stop answering for another several hours, this made us almost regret our decision when setting up our account. They offer documentation for the software but a lot of topics are mere drafts and do not contain a lot of information. Despite the fact that they answer really slow...

Lots of bugs, calendar feature unusable

Reviewed 5 years ago

Horrible

Pros

Easy to learn at first. Sends reminder emails to clients for jobs...

Cons

The calendar is buggy. Will repopulate canceled posts on its own. Has a reoccurring scheduling feature that sometime works sometimes doesn’t. Drop clients for no reason. Been working with kickserve for two years and still no solution to these scheduling errors. They cost me money, frustrate clients, and force me to be ever vigilant so that I have to triple check bugs and scheduling. The only reason I am still with these guys is because it’s too time consuming to switch crms.... this is a horrible Crm for a mid sized or small and growing company... walk away

Vendor response

Hello Jessica and Derek, I spoke with you on the phone. We discussed a better customer flow when managing event cancellations that should prevent issues with our repeating jobs feature. We regret that any confusion and extra work that this may have caused you. As we discussed we are actively working to make our repeating jobs features more dynamic as well as the rest of the program. We appreciate your continued loyalty to work with Kickserv. We aim to exceed expectations.

Decent Software; Great Support

Reviewed 4 years ago

We use KickServ to schedule field engineers for analysis and to generate our invoices and estimates. It works well for our current needs, though there are some small functionalities I wish would change. On the bright side, it's always improving - please keep the updates rolling out!

Pros

The customer service is excellent. Whenever I have a question, someone gets ahold of me within in an hour (or usually less), and they'll follow up within a day or two to make sure you're doing well. The software is also constantly improving with new upgrades.

Cons

When using the program with QuickBooks, it doesn't always sync the way I'd like it to. Once a contact is in, I can't edit the contact information, which is a pain when we have multiple customers from the same overall client company. There's always a little tweak here or there that I wish would change. However, the support team usually will assist with any problems.

Vendor response

Thank you for taking your time to give us a review. We do thrive on feedback from our customers like you. Your viewpoints were insightful. Plus, we are happy to hear of how pleased you are with our Support Team. Keep reaching out to us anytime with our in-app chat because we are here to help.

Great but still a few glitches

Reviewed 7 years ago

We have been using the program for about a year, and it is for sure better than other programs that we have used in the past. ANd the ease of talking to a real person in tech support is WONDERFUL! But there are still a few issues we have come across. One is that it only works properly on FireFox, and is the only program I use that actually works on that browser, so I have to have that on all the time...

Pros

Able to change as needed, and easy to integrate with Quick Books. Easy to contact a real person in tech support.

Cons

Don't feel that the phone/tablet app is user friendly

Sidekick Rocks

Reviewed 12 years ago

I probably recommend Sidekick to someone once a week. I've shopped and used other solutions and Sidekick blows them away in performance, features, price, support - across the board. I even recommend it to people who don't need to track resources because it's so flexible, you can use it as a CRM. Overall, 5 out of 5 stars.

Pros

Super easy to understand and get set up. We were up and running in only 1 day. There's very little training that new users need to use SK. Extremely flexible - I've been able to easily customize the product to show the things we like to see and to run the way we want it. Reports - the capabilities of the reports are amazing. You can build just about any report you can imagine. Price - I get excellent...

Cons

Old data - can be hard to get rid of. I'd like to see a feature where if a user inactivates a custom field, all data in that field on job and customer records can be erased. Text fields - have a limited number of characters so your jobs and client info have to be concise. You can't write a book for a job order. Some features don't quite work the way you would expect (timecards) - they don't actually integrate to QB, so it's kind of a teaser and we spent a fair amount of time trying to use the time tracker only to have to go to another solution.

KICKSERV IS GREAT

Reviewed 4 years ago

Easy to use, easy to learn, simple, intuitive (for me).

Pros

I miss using Kickserv for all of our companies. We switched to another customer service software, but we still have Kickserv for one of the companies. For what I do, their customer notifications and ease of use are great. From a financial standpoint, the owner of this company didn't find it robust enough. However, our new software was a NIGHTMARE when it came to tax codes, because in Washington state, each city has a different tax code, rather than one state tax code. More than a year later, our new system is still horrible for integrating taxes. Kickserv has it down to a science.

Cons

I don't have any complaints. For what I do, it was perfect.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Kayley. We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience with us.

Kickserv Review

Reviewed 4 years ago

Overall good experience as a desktop and in field user.

Pros

Ease of use for invoices as a template, all invoices look the same for every client. Easy to adjust line items and pricing as needed. Taking pictures within the app has been a great addition.

Cons

App is glitchy and doesn't display charges in correct order. If taking a picture with the app, it doesn't save to the phone. Meaning, if signal is lost and the picture doesn't upload the picture is lost. This has led to us making a trip back to re-take a picture that didn't load or save.

Vendor response

Thank you so much for your kind words, Ryan. We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience with us. At this time, we have added the ability to arrange your charges in any way that you prefer. However, whenever you work around limited cell service areas you will want to save all images to your phone to upload later to Jobs.

I think you put a product out that has NOT been throughly beta tested.

Reviewed 6 years ago

When it work it is great, however I have been on the new system for about six months and it still is not working properly.

Pros

No pros were added to this review

Cons

When it works. The app is horrible. But, everyone know that already. You really need to hire outside help to figure out how to permanently fix it once and for all. I have put in numerous requests and have even had Customer support representative out to my house to discuss the problems. He left with a punch list of about 14 things none of which have been fixed to my knowledge.

Vendor response

Went to customer's place of business and met with him one-on-one. We spoke for a couple of hours on what the issues were. We found some issues that were certainly areas that I made a list of to get addressed by my product manage as well as fixed by the development team. We also discovered a couple processes that were being done incorrectly and I did my best to clear those steps up with the owner of this business as well as his lead field tech.
