Google drive for sharing confidential documents between team members in a quick and easy way if you do not need too many features and it might even have a free tier (not sure)

Pros
Google docs for document sharing is cheap and mostly simple to use for secure document sharing with some restrictions on it for excel, word, PPT type documents- the price is very cheap also for basic features with tons of storage for only a few dollars a month

Cons
Google docs gets confusing with sharing permissions sometimes and its hard to tell if a file is public, private or invite only, also it does not have features like Dropbox where you can expire links or box where you can track usage on who has seen it

Pros
All in one accessibility and the learning curve is so fast. I love how it also integrated with gmail obviously. But since it’s a huge brand it has so many api for 3 party extensions :)

Cons
Interface could be more entertaining. Can get expensive fast but it can still be really cheap. To be honest, their are not that many cons :)

I have many more years experience with Microsoft products and still prefer them over Google Docs. Still Google Docs provides a free or low cost alternative that should not be ignored by individuals or companies that are very price conscious.

Pros
Google has done a very good job at creating programs that behave like scaled down versions of their Microsoft counterparts. These programs are provided in a very cost effective way to individuals and organizations. For almost of all the documents, spreadsheets and more that you will create, you will find it possible to create with Google Docs.

Cons
The few times Google Docs does not have the feature you are looking for you really feel it. In the word processing software using tables and getting text to align properly in columns sometimes can be very difficult just as it is when designing a webpage. The spreadsheet software is not as easy to use as Excel. Manipulating data once in place can be a bit cumbersome (creating rows, columns, copy/pasting data to new fields).

As both a student and academic support center worker it has come in handy especially when my computer has gone down as I did not lose all of my work and assignments.

Pros
This program is excellent for collaboration for students working on class projects together as they both access to the documents they need. It is also great for teachers to have a place to share their syllabus and other student requirements without having to reprint them. Another benefit of this program as everything is saved on the cloud so if your computer goes down your work is kept safe.

Cons
The small amount of storage space under the free program because not all students can afford the upgrade for more storage space although it is reasonably priced.

I like to use Google Docs especially on my Chromebook and when I don't have access to Microsoft Office. I find it easy to use with all the robust features I've come to expect in an office suite.

Pros
You can't beat the price of Google Docs. This free alternative to Microsoft Office is an excellent product and perfect for a cost conscious freelancer like myself. The product is easy to use with a very low learning curve. if you know how to use Microsoft Office you basically know how to use Google Docs already.

Cons
There is a bit of a learning curve especially for someone who's never used in office suite before. It also depends on internet connectiviy so it may be difficult to use offline

Web-based Word processor software, similar to Microsoft Word, only little less powerful but free!

Great experience - Prefer Microsoft Word, particularly when used on a Windows computer. However I find this to be a good, solid, cheap and streamlined application alternative.

Pros
Google Docs comes free for personal user like the other suite of Google products (think Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Drive, etc). Also comes in the Google Apps subscription based suite from Google. Google Docs is similar to Microsoft Word, only it is primarily a web based application, though it has mobile applications for both Android and iOS. You won't find it as full featured as Microsoft Word, however you'll find most of the functionality and since it is likely to be either free or cheaper than Word, its a great alternative and is great for collaboration / annotating documents, etc.

Cons
Small learning curve to work out the quirks / different names for some of the features in Google Docs when compared to Microsoft Word. Apart from that, it is pretty straight forward - No need to Save your documents again as your documents are constantly auto-saved in the web application.

Overall this product gets the job done as quickly as its competitor software at a price that's hard to beat...FREE.

Pros
When it comes to office tools, Word is the leader in the industry. The issue is the cost. Google offers their users a free alternative that is built into its email platform that is compatible with word documents, retains files directly to Google Drive, and also allows you to edit and save files as Word documents. All for free.

Cons
The scope of features isn't as full as MS Word but for basic document editing and creation it's clearly worth a look. There are styling limitations, and other graphical enhancements that are missing from that of Word.

I highly recommend Google Docs for small businesses and entrepreneurs. Microsoft Word is not cheap these days, and by using Google Docs, you save money to invest back into your business.

Pros
Google Docs is so integral to our business operations. As a sports organization, our employees are always going in and out of the office. Google Docs allows us to collaborate remotely in real-time. I can see who is typing and what they are typing. Because the content is all stored in the cloud, we don't have to worry about bringing our document files with us. We simply need internet access to see our documents.

Cons
Google Docs is definitely not as robust as Microsoft Word in terms of graphics and design. However, I appreciate its simplicity for those of us who don't need a lot of "fluff" in our documents.

My overall experience with Google Docs is an awesome one, especially considering I can stop using it on one of my devices and proceed using it across any other synced device on the cloud, with all the features a locally installed word processor would offer.

Pros
What I like most of about Google Docs is how I am afforded the power of a robust word processor with almost every feature a conventional word processor offers at half the price, within the seamlessly integrated Google ecosystem.

Cons
I think the conventionally available templates for the varied word documents that a typical user may need could do with a bit of a widening of the scope.

Having been in the tech industry for 40 years, it's a cheap go-to tool that gets the job done. Functionally, they could help Microsoft with a couple cloud editing performance issues, and still have an edge.

Pros
Google Docs was practically first in the realm of real cloud-based apps providing a very robust set of tools (at the time,) and it appears they still own the space for multi-user document editing for the basic tools needed -- Word Processor, Spreadsheet, and Presentation. Microsoft has been playing catch-up ever since, and have only started touching the coat-tales of Google, but still need to shore up the multi-user experience so it's not so laggy.

Cons
The file architecture and asset management is abysmal. We moved our file system from Google with a few angry staff holding out and staying on the platform. There is no centralized security management system in place, and from my experience, there is no toolset for administration to control file sharing of company data. I know that Google released Google Docs for Teams, but seriously, file security should be hand-in-hand as important as the editing platform is for users.

Pros
It is very easy to use and to share documents throughout our Google suite with coworkers. It is also very user-friendly and has been very helpful when we are onboarding new employees.

Cons
It doesn't have all the features the Microsoft word has or is more complicated. I have used it for less time than Microsoft word but because it is cheaper it is more cost-effective and I honestly don't need all the extra stuff word offers. Google docs gets the job done and stores everything really well in google drive.

Pros
Being free or paying for the domain names services with the Google. Either way you get Google docs it's always a fantastic product. You're able to share with other colleagues and collaborate on projects. No need to upload anything because you're working off the cloud. and you know your stuff is safe with Google. This is a much cheaper way then using Microsoft office 360 cost comparison is astronomical.

Cons
I wish the layout was more like Microsoft office. Meaning like having a cool bar at the top with file save edit font size stuff like that. Don't get me wrong Google docs has all that I just wish the layout was a big different but that's just my opinion.

I organize meeting, produce useful documents I share with my teams. As a team leader, my company only has access to the Google Cloud tools, so docs is a fundamental piece of our productivity.

Pros
How easy and convenient to use this package of Goggle Software this is. With Google Docs, I can create, modify, and real time save a document into the company's cloud. The amount of features Docs have is insane, from creating a Word type document and save it into several different formats, to the option of sending a copy or authorization to see or alter the doc, and everything for free.

Overall Google docs is the best alternative to use for documentation if you don’t want to invest in paid software. Though the latest versions of Microsoft word has features and better integration with other Microsoft products, Google docs works pretty well with Google suite of apps and gets the job done.

Pros
1. Lightweight web app compared to the standard office applications like Microsoft office suite, open office or apple suite of applications 2. Collaboration is big advantage I found compared to standard office applications where many persons can simultaneously work on same doc and see changes in real time. This feature later got introduced in Microsoft office web version later on. 3. For personal usage, docs are completely free and support for saving in other popular formats like pdf; all these make it super useful for most of the common tasks 4. Works on systems even with low configuration systems like cheap chrome books or low end tablets

Cons
1. I randomly observe file sync issues during loss of network connectivity but these are very rare now a days due to improvements to offline mode 2. Missing some latest features compared to new Microsoft Word editions like planner for business users but not deal breakers.

Pros

Overall, my experience with Google Docs has been tremendously positive. Since Google Docs is so easy to use, the aforementioned support frustrations doesn't rear its head frequently, so we're left with a cheap, easy-to-use platform that works across all systems and devices.

Pros
The best part about Google Docs is how easy they are to use, and the subsequent lack of onboarding time required to get your company up and running with it. Most employees have used (or are at least familiar with) Google Docs at least once before, so it was very easy to get everyone up and running quickly.

Cons
It's very hard to find any type of easy support for Google Docs. Google offers account-level support for Google Docs, however if your quick how-to question isn't specifically addressed in the support documentation, it's a cumbersome process to get someone on the line to help you troubleshoot.

As overall - I use it every day and am pretty happy it is maintained and updated, and new features are not breaking existing documents.

Pros
When Microsoft office was dominating till now, I used Google Docs from first release. The real cool points are that it is not only free for usual people (read as 99% of all users), but it is also cross-platform, and very easy used in browsers and mobile devices. I use paid version because of required space and collaboration, and price is very reasonable.

Cons
The least is a large amount of Javascript used in frontend. On some low-powered devices (old laptop for example), it makes page freeze quite often. Also when you do some action, e.g. deleting file, you do not see any "in progress" indicator, you just have to believe that this is happening now - until you see a result.
