Good for bigger companies and needs technical expertise

File sharing, schedule tracking and management across multiple teams, document managment, reporting (dashboard display in an easily shareable format), etc.

Pros

1) As a functional user, SharePoint is a great softeare to share files and manage them. 2) One can even build calendar and multiple teams can color code to share schedules which is a very useful feature. 3) SharePoint online location can be opened in explorer window, making navigation super easy!

Cons

It's an expensive software. I wish the company had smaller packages for startup and small to medium businesses. It's mostly suitable for large companies. Also, a dedicated IT team is rewuired to implement it and add features. For a technical person, it's a cake walk because programming is not that difficult. But, a bit difficult to implement for a first time user (even with coding knowledge)

Would recommend any organizations looking to implement SharePoint (either edition) develop a pool of trained site owners and limit who is given design and full control permission.

Pros

Widely used platform that is adaptable to most internal requirements for knowledge management and collaboration.

Cons

SharePoint 2010 is not mobile friendly and requires upgrade to 2013 or 2016 edition to enable better integration for mobile viewing/editing documents.

- Better file distribution & collaborative editing abilities - Pliable and user-friendly mobile user interface - File storage & document capabilities of a fortune 500 companies without huge implementation overhead

Pros

A few of the things I like the most: - In-depth file & permission structures are possible - Easily integrates with nearly all Microsoft Office applications - Employees can easily be managed through one location instead of requiring API interface or multiple site permission/deletion work - Saves each iteration of a documents change, allows users to go back to the first iteration and view progressive changes & who made those changes - Usable mobile interface on all platforms - Online document edits for quick edits that need to take place - Groups can be established to assign multiple permissions to multiple users easily - Cloud storage is cheap and easily expandable - OneDrive app interfaces well & allows easy document upload/download for phones

Cons

- Uploaded videos cannot be played on all mobile platforms (currently) - Permissions has a learning curve & is a combination of the old structure and the new structure, which can lead to confusion when attempting to set granular non-inherited permissions

My overall experience has been very good using SharePoint. I have used it for building both internal and external sites. I have also used it to build and host enterprise level custom web applications. The biggest benefit I have seen using SharePoint is its seamless connectivity with Microsoft Office products. It adds a lot of values and helpful if your organization is already using Microsoft Office products.

Maybe this feature exist in SharePoint but i did not find it, it does not allow inside a folder to give different level of permission that means if someone add a file in the folder this person can see what he adds but any other people in the same folder can't see anything without permission.
