Zoho Invoice provides a full-featured accounting tool for self-employed service professionals who don't need to manage bank accounts or balance sheet assets. If you sell your time or sell (or resell) products you create and don't need an inventory system, Zoho Invoice is nearly perfect.Practically everything is so well-thought out. Zoho Invoice is everything a self-employed person or entrepreneur needs to manage contacts, quotes, invoices, receivables and expenses. It even has robust support for time billing (projects, tasks, etc.), sales tax, recurring invoices, and even multiple currencies (I just need USD, but the capability is there). Zoho Invoice is the almost perfect accounting tool I need to track income and expenses. When my data is entered and up to date, getting my data to my accountant for income tax prep is as simple as exporting two spreadsheets.

I just switched from the "improved" FreshBooks to Zoho Invoice.

It meets most of my invoicing and time tracking needs, and at an over 50% reduction in monthly costs. My small consulting firm has used Freshbooks for a couple of years. Recently they "upgraded" their product and I lost very basic functionality that I relied on day-to-day. While not perfect, Zoho Invoice provides most of that functionality and at an over 50% drop in price. I really like the previous FreshBooks solution, and would have eagerly embraced the new, but you cannot release a new version that supports so much less functionality that the last. OK, off that soap box. Zoho Invoice so far seems easy to use, with a few caveats I will spell out in the next section. The customization is great (almost, but not quite, to a fault). Some of what I consider basic functions for a consulting environment are available. Including the expense receipt images on the PDF invoice (HELLO FRESHBOOKS!!!) are very simple.

It is a "must have" for start-ups

As I have already said, this program is perfect for a startup, since it is so easy to use and very useful, so I strongly recommend them to use it. But the best thing is the fact that you can integrate it with other Zoho apps, and I can say from my own experience that this is really helpful, since you can control every aspect of you enterprise accounting in only one program. It is a very useful and easy software, specially for small start-ups. It allows you to easily make invoices, recurrent invoices, manage them as you wish, etc. Also, you can personalize them, since you can do your own templates, although they provide you with some. But the most important thing is that you can integrate Zoho Invoice with all other Zoho applications, such as Zoho CRM, Zoho Expense, Zoho Mail, etc. and, by this, have several different departments of your enterprise in the same page. That's what I find most useful.

If all else fails Zoho invoice provides snail mail invoices for those customers who are harder to reach than others. I have a great overall experience with the software. I have been using the whole Zoho suite for a few months now and I love it. It offers customisable invoices, bespoke to the project or company in question, full scheduling and automation features and all within a clean interface that works on the web and across multiple devices via their various mobile apps. I get paid on time and with ease thanks to Zoho Invoice.

Zoho is a great invoicing tool for small businesses

Used monthly for 1-2 years

Review Source: GetApp

Zoho Invoice is a great invoicing tool that allows you to track invoices and payments for services and products. 1) The ability to design your own invoice template to use. Customization is easy but also designer friendly. 2) Tracking payments and expenses from one place. The name may fool you but Zoho Invoice also lets you track time and other expenses related to your business or invoice. This is great for basic bookkeeping. 3) Invoice management is second to none. You can create draft invoices, recurring invoices and others all with a few clicks, the email template is also great as you do not have to write emails. 4) Customer Statements are invaluable. Being able to send a customer a statement of all invoices plus payments they have made is a Godsend for business. Zoho Invoice may not have all the bells and whistles of Zoho Books but it is an affordable alternative to someone who does not want the accounting side of things but want to still have a basic overview of their financial standing as a business.

Anyone running a business knows the importance of getting paid quickly. To remain in business, a steady flow of income is necessary to handle the many bills an enterprise incurs.

Zoho Invoice promises hassle-free invoicing to make it easier to get paid. Not only can freelancers and business owners more easily deploy invoices, it encourages clients to pay more quickly with automated reminders and links to online payment options. Reminders can be set to automatically go out after a certain number of days have passed with an invoice overdue. This will help ensure a missed payment never gets lost in the system. Zoho Invoice also gives a business’s clients multiple ways to pay, offering popular payment options like PayPal, Google Checkout, and Authorize.net to speed up response times on invoices.

What is Zoho Invoice?

Invoicing doesn’t have to be painful. Zoho Invoice makes it easy to invoice clients, offering an up-to-date snapshot of a business’s performance. Easy-to-use templates can be customized to reflect a business’s brand. Payments can be made online, with automated reminders making it easy for clients to pay for items.

Zoho Invoice covers all of the major financial needs of a business, including invoicing, expense tracking, estimates, and more. With support for multiple currencies and languages, Zoho Invoice makes it easy for business to work with clients around the globe. With reporting, businesses have access to an always-updated snapshot of their finances.

Who is Zoho Invoice for?

Zoho Invoice is great for any business that creates and manages invoices. It is specifically designed for smaller businesses and sole proprietors, however.

The main users of Zoho Invoice are freelancers and small businesses. Web designers, writers, photographers, and other freelancers are frequent users of Zoho Invoice, as are small business owners and start-up organizations.

Main features

The most important feature in Zoho Invoice is its ability to help users create, manage, and track invoices to customers or clients. Once created, an invoice can be sent directly to the payee or can be printed to be sent through the postal system. Recurring invoices can also be set up for businesses that prefer to operate on a subscription-based model.

Once an invoice has been sent or saved, a user can make it recurring, mark it as sent, void it, print a packing slip, or clone it to create a similar invoice. All invoices are stored and can be referenced or used later as new projects arise.

Using Zoho Invoice, freelancers and small business owners can create professional-looking estimates to help win the job. The estimate is saved in Zoho Invoice permanently to allow professionals to reference it the next time an estimate is requested.

Once work has been completed, an estimate can be easily converted to an invoice. This quick step saves time by removing the need for duplicate entry. It also helps a business ensure it stays on track with its original estimate, although items can be changed to reflect items that have been added on over the course of the project.

Time Tracking and Expenses

Managers and employees can create tasks associated with projects, with time logged for each of these tasks for billing purposes. Tasks can be created and assigned using a PC or mobile device, allowing workers to keep projects moving while on the go. Employees can also track expenses and attach receipts directly in Zoho Invoice for easy reimbursements.

Zoho Invoice offers a project snapshot that shows the overall project budget, as well as the billed and unbilled hours for the month. If billing is fixed, that can be specified, as well, to ensure the project is billed correctly. Project expenses can be included with an invoice to give clients a detailed view of the work that has been completed.

Client Portal

Each Zoho Invoice user will be granted a portal that can be shared with his client. Through the portal, clients can view, download, forward, or make online payments for outstanding invoices. These payments can be made from within the portal.

Estimates can also be approved and rejected within the portal. At any point, a client can also access the transaction statement. Through a comment section, clients can discuss a specific invoice or estimate. This prevents long email threads and keeps everything in one place.

Contact Management

Contacts are the backbone of any invoicing system. Zoho Invoice allows existing contact lists to be easily imported or manually added.

Contacts can be added in the Contacts section or on many of the screens within Zoho Invoice. Search lets users quickly find specific contacts. Once the app has been in use for a while, users can see at a glance whether a client has funds outstanding and how much that client has paid each month.

Zoho Invoice provides templates to make invoicing easy. With so many options available, businesses can create professional, unique invoices that accurately match their branding. Templates allow for easy customization, including changing the background, removing columns, and adding logos.

Templates can be chosen both in the desktop and mobile versions of Zoho Invoice. Once an invoice style is chosen, the user can begin inputting information.

Zoho Invoice integrates with a variety of apps for the purposes of making accounting and payment easier. The app integrates with online payment gateways like Stripe, PayPal, PayPal Payflow Pro, Braintree, Authorize.Net, and 2Checkout.

It also integrates with Zoho apps like Zoho CRM and Zoho Projects. Zoho Invoice also integrates with a user’s existing Gapps account.

There are three plans associated with Zoho Invoice. A free plan allows users to create and send invoices, along with other features, but the free plan is only available for one user and five customers. A standard plan that costs $15 a month is available for 500 customers and three users, while a more robust plan allowing unlimited users and customers is available for $30 per month.

For a small cost savings, businesses can choose an annual plan that costs $150 for standard or $300 for professional.

Bottom line

  • Create, send, and manage professional-quality invoices.
  • Import and work with existing contact lists or add new contacts.
  • Issue cost estimates that can later be converted to invoices.
  • Client portal allows customers to login, view pending transactions, and make payments.
  • Support for multiple languages and currencies.
