Just dealing with the software that I own, it's great. I've used the software for 25 years so I know how to use it. Only time I need to call support is usually over credit card problems which they must deal with. If I was a user who needed support, it would be a hassle.

Pros

Ease of use. Once you learn how the software works, it's easy to teach others.

Cons

The customer support over the years has took a downward spiral. Only a few years ago, your call was answered and dealt with immediately, now your issued a ticket and most of the time called back, sometimes days after your call. Took over 2 months to get a price on an upgrade that's a ridiculous price.

Too Many Limitations for Any Serious Business to Consider for Online Bookings

It's one thing to have issues. Software is buggy. It's always evolving. But to have to pay $75/month for the right to call them and get help? Just awful. That would maybe be tolerable if they had a chat option. Nope. Or if they responded to emails swiftly. Nope. If you have a critical issue, you are on your own. Good luck. Your customers pay the price and you lose the business.

Pros

The back end is fine. Not great. It gets the job done, but the interface and UI for online is antiquated. There are so many platforms out there with slick functionality and workflow that they're getting left behind without some SERIOUS upgrades.

Cons

I can't say it all in 1,500 characters. Let's start with customer service. You actually have to pay $75 for phone customer service with most plans. Huh? That means either 1) you're likely to have so many issues that it's worth $75 to get help fixing them, or 2) They don't want to assist their customers unless they can extort an extra $75 for the honor. Absurd. We work with dozens of SaS companies,...

Best Software I have ever dealt with

After dealing with rental software for 15+ years, we made the change to POR and I can't believe how good they are. I regret not making the switch 10 years earlier. POR is rental specific and they have made our process very seamless. THE best in the industry!!

Pros

Everything!!! Value, ease of operation, reports, functionality, service second to none

Cons

If I have to point our something...They are in Texas and we are in Georgia. So we are operating a couple of hours before they arrive...but they have always had an "early bird" on call to answer the simple technical questions.

From 1-10. 10 being amazing...they are a 100 😊

Pros

I came to Point of Rental when my ow EXPENSIVE rental system crashed big time. Without my system, and found out just how poor customer service was with their competitor I was ready to give up. Then we heard of Point of Rental. Apprehensive we moved slowly with lots of hands on before deciding. Best advice I can give, DO IT. Do not wait. Best decision I have ever made.

Cons

I love my Tech Support person, She knows the ins and outs and I am so blessed by her service. I do feel the other Tech support people can take the lead from rep.

Awesome!

Pros

The control I have over every aspect of each rental, my products, the pricing, the photos. being able to just change the date of an event for a returning customer, instead of having to put in a whole new order. The time it saves me.

Cons

I want to get rid of stripe, and keep everything with point of rental.

Great experience, always something new to learn.

Staying on the forefront of technology, we are able to stay ahead of our competitors and provide our customers with professional services. The enhanced technologies allows us to better track our inventory and communicate easier in and around the organization. This software is the lifeline of our business.

Pros

I love how the company is continuously updating their programs and new technology is always being introduced to us consumers.

Cons

There is an additional cost to every facet of the system, but in the long run well worth the investment.

I won't tell you anything I haven't already told them...

Great time savings found through implementing Webpay & ESign. I would 100% recommend both.

Pros

Most of it works most of the time. There are many features which we'd like to use in a slightly different way but are frequently told that it can't do that. We've found a lot of value in paying to customize reports to meet our specific needs.

Cons

Getting anyone from support on the phone that can actually solve a problem is frustratingly tedious; they're all very nice, just not all helpful in a real way. Once you connect with someone who can solve an issue, they rock. We aren't impressed every time a human hears a suggestion/feedback and tells us to go add it to the peer voting system, generally that's why I'm communicating my needs/desires, not to go do it again or elsewhere. The sales team dropped so many balls on our account in the last year that I had to demand a new sales rep, who, due to all factors, delivered the information I was requesting a full three months later, eight months after I originally requested it.

Point of Rental for the Equipment Rental Industry

Overall, our experience has been very positive. We have had our own growing pains as a company, and POR has stuck with us through it all, adapting our software modules as our own needs have changed. While there are a few things we would like to see function differently/better, overall, it is a great software program at a great value and they truly understand the equipment rental industry.

Pros

LOVE that the program is Windows based and overall easy to use. Many features have been updated and added and the ongoing updates following customer input and feedback are extremely helpful. Being able to utilize the program in a "training mode" is also key when bringing on new personnel.

Cons

Point of Rental has experienced tremendous growth in the last few years. When we first acquired the software, calling in for support was no issue, and a person always answered the phone. Now, calling in for support takes you to a switchboard and you often have to leave a message and wait for a reply, and due to the growth, it sometimes takes lengthy time to get the right support person to help resolve your issue.

It did not work for us

It was really not great. we work with many companies. There is a bit of give and take in each business relationship. With Point of Rental there were many promises and no quality follow-up. The process took many times longer, in the end, the software was not workable for us, the money was taken and not refunded. Their contract in fine lines guarantees that so please read carefully all fine print.

Pros

Point of Rental Software was presented to us as a Caddilac of rental software. It has many features and it seemed as it was capable of meeting and exceeding our needs.

Cons

The promises made during the steps leading to signing the contract and then implementing the software for us were not. The communications with us were sparse and low quality, not prepared. The structure of the whole process was to get to scheduling the training at which point it was obvious that the software does NOT work for us but several thousands of dollars were paid but not refunded.

This software is massively over priced and is not cut out for fence rentals.

There were no benefits whatsoever

Pros

The only positive of this system was the dispatch integration. This was a good system that functioned well with routing our trucks for their daily installations.

Cons

Way overpriced. If you are having reservations about the cost of this listen to your gut. System looks archaic. The architecture looks like software from the 1990's. The estimating process is slow and cumbersome. You are forced to enter a complete order by using a series of tabs instead of simply entering everything on one screen as in modern software. There are many quirks that slow you down as well...

Always loved their support staff, quick to respond and most often fixed the issue or could show you how it happened, rarely had to contact them as the system ran pretty smoothly, the updates install themselves so no need to get everyone out of the system for upgrades. In the last year, they have changed so much, and often switch it back, and it no longer works properly, updates have to be done manually, screens have changed, support is non-existent, email and wait a week for a reply, if that. Been working on an issue now since last August, just gets worse instead of fixed and no reason why it is happening.

Pros

Loved the software when I got it, training module is fantastic, ability to learn it easily is great, input is quite simple and usually fixable if you make a mistake, handles multiple locations, does depreciation.

Cons

Resale parts handling, reporting, receiving, pricing, inventory counting.

Equipment Rental Store Owner

Point of Rental is the central hub for our business, and is where we do nearly 100% of our day-to-day tasks. There is no better dedicated product on the market for a rental business, but be aware that not all of the additional features are worth the price of admission.

Pros

Point of Rental is basically handling every facet of a rental business, from time clock to inventory to depreciation to reservations and missed rental tracking.

Cons

The software has clearly been added to and modified over time, and the UI is uneven and inconsistent in many places. Many of the modules have only very basic functionality or are overly complicated to use.

Pros

Functionality is amazing. Learning weekly! We are definitely not using POR in all manners, so much to learn! Love the customer service and always willing to help us.

Cons

I wish delivery costs were able to be calculated by entering zip codes and not regions. I'd like to be able and type in where the delivery begins and where it ends to calculate the cost, especially since we have 2-3 store locations.

Great software and features

We have been a customer since 2001 and have had great support the entire time. Their willingness to listen to the users in developing new solutions is great. Questions or issues are always answered promptly.

Pros

Ease of implementation, use, great customer support and essentially a one stop software to fit our business needs.

Cons

The price was higher than some others but I feel the features, functionality and support offsets those costs.

Every time I call I get very helpful staff that guide me through the problems and come up with a solution. Always, helpful and friendly.

Pros

Very User Friendly

Using the software makes renting a quick and easy process now. We are not wasting time writing, then entering data in 2 other locations. It is saving time, money and increases efficiency.

Pros

I like the tracking, the dashboard, and the reporting. Prior to using this software we kept a spreadsheet and had paper forms that took time. Now we are able to keep everything in a digital format. The only time we use paper is for internal use to pick, track and receive an item back.

Cons

Setting up price sheets was a little cumbersome, but after spending a little time on the phone with the setup team I understood it better. It is still a little confusing at times, but they don't mind me emailing for answers.

Could Be Better

We tried several systems and this one was one of the better ones but one of the main issues is if you lose your Internet connection, while it being not a common occurance, you're essentially dead in the water unless you go with their expensive Enterprise version. I also noted that almost all the reviews here were written October 16 - pretty fishy.
