The People at Lightspeed do not understand business!!

28/02/2017

When the system is down they turn off their customer service. It is not a system a business can depend on and I am hoping there is a class action lawsuit to recoup the thousands of dollars in losses we've incurred. Maybe there isn't anything better on the market but this isn't a system you can rely on and as long as we keep paying them they don't seem to care. They've even gone so far as to block my comments on Facwbook.

Lightspeed retail and ecom

23/02/2017

As a small bike shop, we had the challenge of finding an affordable easy to use, but fully integrated system for inventory and sales. We are into our 2nd season with lightspeed, and we are quite happy with the product, and even added the ecom bundle to our subscription renewal. We are constantly learning new ways to make the product work for us, and help streamline our work from both a sales and service perspective. I don't use the support as much as I should, but have had great experience with lightspeed support on any question or concerns I come up with.

Pros

Cost effective for small business. Easy to learn and fairly intuitive. Great support. The more we use it, the better it suits our needs and they seem receptive to feedback for changes and improvements.

Cons

The ecom platform is great, but has a very retail feeling to it, which I understand is the function. Would love for the platform to have options for a more informative feel and function. Like optional events page, gallery, widgets like weather or trail condition reports etc.

Lightspeed Retail Software

22/02/2017

We recently switched from Clover to Lightspeed. We have not got it up and running yet but we are heading in that direction. I am finding that the features are very easy to use.

Pros

The ease of use as well as the features it provides. I like that fact that it also imports to Quickbooks desktop.

Cons

I do not like that you only have two options of Merchant Service Providers with Lightspeed. I tried to contact these Merchant Service Providers and were unable to get the help I wanted. I ended up going with another Merchant Service Provider outside of the two Lightspeed told me about. However, it has turned out to be more of a headache. So note: Go with one of the providers they tell you about. I guess keep trying until you get someone who is helpful.

This product is amazing for any small retail business. I do not know about the product outside of the small business for retail side. The gentleman at Lightspeed that helped me was amazing. He has provided us with great customer service. He is still helping us get off the ground since we chose a different Merchant Service Provider and have had so many issues.

Lightspeed is worth checking into

21/02/2017

The more I get into it the more I like it. It is multifaceted without being over complicated. For the most part, it is very intuitive and I can usually go to the help area and find instructions or a video to answer my questions. If you are looking for a user-friendly POS make sure to include Lightspeed in your research.

Pros

Intuitive program. Versatile without being complex. Good inventory management system.

Cons

You can have up to 5 users but only one POS at a time can be operated unless you pay $ more for an additional POS license.

We made a big bet on Lightpseed, and we lost. Stay away.

21/02/2017

Lightspeed suffers from frequent changes in the product. For our store, with over 2000 items and integration with a web store, it is a very big investment in time and money to change systems. Since we've been on lightspeed, they have developed and cancelled three different e-commerce products: OnSite w/ E-commerce, WebStore, WebStore 2 (rewritten and incompatible). All of these have now been cancelled and we are left with a month to scramble to come up with a replacement. They are trying to coerce us to switch to their latest platform. No thanks, we've learned our lesson. One of the *most* important requirements for business software is that it is dependable. Lightspeed treats their products as short-term relationships that can be simply discarded for the next new shiny thing. The real business software would provide an upgrade path and help customers through it. Not lightspeed. Find a company that can provide a stable platform. Lightspeed can not, it's not in their DNA.

Pros

Decent features, though e-commerce is really weak, as is inventory management (you have to export to excel, do counts, and re-import. None of our staff can figure this out--it is complex and error prone).

Cons

Horrible continuity of product. Multiple software products are thrown away with customers left hanging with no transition plan.

Bad experience with Lightspeed Magento maintenance

15/02/2017

We have been one of the first customers of Lightspeed in Europe. We have decided to rollout Lightspeed as they were on MAC and had a Magento connector for which we could connect our website. Their solution has never been consistent in synchronizing both retail and online stocks. The yearly process of global inventory has been a mess with hours of pain to get it done. Suddenly, 6 months ago, out of the blue, we got a noticed by Lightspeed that Magento is no longer supported and they only support their proprietary webcommerce solution. We have invested massively on developments around this architecture believing that Lightspeed was a serious POS solution and company. Finally, they have pointed out to Accumula, a integrator and solution provider which we now need to pay to have access to their API. We might have found a solution (not yet proven) but we deplore the communication they do with their customers

4th year on Litespeed retail and signed up for 4 more

29/01/2017

Having our POS system in the cloud has allowed us to devote hardware and software IT resources to other areas of our business. Having the ability to access our POS at home, on the road, and on our phones has made us more organized, more productive, and smarter with our purchasing decisions. I have been able to reduce our inventory on hand by about 20%.

Pros

Ease of use, simple and fast loading pages, no more hardware and software issues for our store to deal with. Work order management is very well thought out and organized. No more data to backup.

Cons

Wish they had more users included in our single cash register plan. We have a lot of part-time summer help.

Not all it is cracked up to be

25/01/2017

We are having a very hard time finding a working software that can work in our service are, stores and control our inventory. Oh yes, and did I say it must work with Quickbooks. Well, the Quickbooks interface is horrible. It sends batches of transactions and not the actual customer by customer transaction. Very poor and pretty useless Quickbooks interface. It also does not work giving the information for customers that pay on account. There are no aging reports at all. How can we efficiently call on customers that owe us money? It seemed easy at making estimates but aside from that, pretty unusable for us.

Pros

Easy online interface. Easy to upload the information to start.

Cons

No aging reports. Minimal and unusable Quickbooks Interface.
