InfusionSoft is great if you run an eCommerce site and want to build automation around the sales and marketing processes. If your business is anything other than eCommerce, I would suggest researching other options because the price you pay for InfusionSoft is much higher than competitors that could likely meet your business needs.

Pros: The best part about InfusionSoft is their campaign builder. The process is very visual and like putting together a logic puzzle. This makes it very easy for someone non-technical to be able to create a campaign. Think of all your processes and come up with a naming convention otherwise InfusionSoft will become chaos without your own structured naming convention.

Cons: Learning. I learned the basics through a third-party team that teaches InfusionSoft with their instructional videos. I then went on to watch many videos and read many articles from InfusionSoft's website. Bottom line, this helped me create a basis to build from. However, a few months of living inside the software later led me to revamp everything I had created because I discovered ways to make everything 100x more organized and more efficient. You will likely need a lot of support or expect to redo a lot of work after getting comfortable with the software.

It has been over 2 years since we switch to InfusionSoft from other marketing automation tool and CRM system, and it has been the most positive experience. The team and management could not be more happy with the transition. From the sales process to the on-boarding, InfusionSoft people were polite, professional, and for sure helped us up our game when it comes to sales and automation - ACROSS THE BOARD!

Pros: Besides offering the best customer and technical support team I have ever dealt with, InfusionSoft allows it's users to grow in skills and develop expertise in the software, which in turn, reduces the need to hire an external consultant and keeps the knowledge in house. This is very much invaluable as we continue to grow our team over time. With InfusionSoft we were also able to stream processes such as email marketing, sales pipeline, CRM and customization of our customer email marketing program. The Campaign Builder is unquestionably the best feature InfusionSoft offers, with dozens of internal tools and functionality to utilize. My favorite trick is the Campaign Links, allowing you to change the links used in internal emails of the campaign as URLs change - so you don't have to worry about going to each email and change the URL manually. This saves hours of man time and allows your team to focus on strategy and implementation.

Cons: We had some bumps on the road, and continue to experience some difficulties with InfusionSoft. In my opinion, the system was not originally developed for B2B companies and this is why opportunity (=each sale coming through the system) and contact records are linked in an odd and inefficient way. We approached the company with this issue, and were told they are working on a way to fix it. However, as we improved our knowledge and skills with the software, we were able to find a work-around to solve this issue.

Pros: It allows small businesses to scale and operate like a big company without the necessary staff that is usually necessary to grow.

Flaws and all, Infusionsoft is worth it

My personal usage of Infusionsoft is 80% email marketing and 20% CRM. Others in the company also make use of the lead scoring (the "funnel" stuff). For me on the e-mail side, I love the automation and the dripping I can do based on behaviors and parameters I set. Infusionsoft has made our out-bound marketing much more effective because we are targeting our audience based on their actions.

Pros: The "if this, then that" type of follow-up logic makes my life easier. It certainly takes an investment of time on the front-end to create the campaigns, but once set, they can be left to run automatically or perhaps just fine-tuned based on reporting. It's been very exciting to see our efforts with Infusionsoft yield better responses from our audience.

Cons: Just when you think you understand how to use it and where the critical nodes are, something else comes up. I won't call it "confusionsoft", but It takes time to learn. What I have found is I need to be using the platform every day to really get the hang of it and to realize the value from it. This is especially true where the reporting is concerned. There is gold in the reporting...but it takes time to mine it.

Pros: The customer support is phenomenal! Highly qualified and informed staff that is available whenever I need. Superb experience that all companies should replicate after.

Cons: The system has slowed down immensely since I first began with Infusionsoft over 3 years ago. And when you are in a time crunch as marketing generally is, it can be frustrating.

We run a small business that sells news subscriptions and conference seats. Visually daunting, the system is both time-consuming and technically demanding to set up - way outside the personal scope of most small business owners. Technically it is however very sound, although primarily aimed at companies selling things "off the page" all the time - not our case at all.

Pros: The raw power of the system and the functionality. Excellent campaign creation and follow-up if you have the time and the brain to set them up. Good customisation. Customer support is competent, but the company only moderately responsive to feature-set complaints. (See below).

Cons: For a powerful CRM, team reporting is terrible. It is impossible to know what your team members have actually been doing all day. The system (unlike InsightLy for instance) does not capture incoming client e-mails and capturing outgoing e-mails from GMail and Outlook is a minor nightmare. Tagging is not hierarchical.

The problem of this product is, Infusionsoft pays $500 referral fee to the person introduce to them. So a lot of contractors will say that infusionsoft is good. But those contractor may only know how to use 5% of the product, which is similar to other lower cost competitors which pays less referral fees. And when you want to cancel, my experience is they will skip your emails. Here is our story: Infusionsoft charges $2000 start up cost +$299 per month of service fee, the Sales says if it is not for us, they will do something to credit the upfront $2000 back to us. After our company used it for a month we emailed Sales saying infusionsoft is not for us, he says that he will forward the message to customer service. We haven't heard from infusionsoft again, we have followed up with Sales with no reply. Our credit card is billed month after month, which forced us to call my credit card to cancel the card. Then someone from Infusionsoft customer service emailed us saying we have unpaid balance. We asked him to communicate with Sales and credit us back for the months that we didn't use. The customer service rep disappeared again. I personally would not recommend any company to use their service. - Most companies would not need such a BIG solution. If you are big enough you will go to SAP. - Their $500 referral fee, and false sales promises is not someone would look for. - Don't worry about cancelling with them, they skip these emails.

Pros: Their sales person is really good at hooking you up with the product.

Cons: They pay $500 referral fee to affiliates for introductions. So if you hire outside consultants, they would hook you up with infusionsoft for the referral fee. Which is not in favour of your business position. Moreover their sales person will give false promises to get your business. And you will have a hard time trying to cancel your subscriptions.

We selected Infusionsoft after looking at various options. One of the deciding factors was the Perry Marshal, who we also work with, recommended it. So far its has been a big asset, and quickly has become a vital part of our marketing systems.

Pros: Its very powerful, flexible, and helps you with processes. It allows for various tracking of actions of customer interaction, and very strong email marketing support, which for us was another deciding factor.

Cons: It has a learning curve and takes some effort to become proficient in setting up emails and flows. Not easy to jump into.

Not suited for a small business with existing CRM

Do not subscribe to this solution if you have an existing CRM and/or don’t have about 20 hours per week over four weeks to attend training and setup campaigns. They push their products to small businesses but I don’t see how a business owner can set up the product, take care of sales, and do the actual work. Don’t get me wrong this is probably a great solution for a mid-size small business that can have a full time resource dedicated to migrating data and setting up the application but not for a small 10 employee shop.

Pros: The people and trainers are great. The support is top of the line.

Cons: The product requires extensive setup so be ready to hire a resource to setup or be ready to dedicate a good bit of time over 90 days. Sales assured me they integrated with my CRM but once I signed up I discovered that none existed.
