I have had a really pleasant experience with Expensify as a user. It's easy to use and fits into my monthly tasks well. It also feels like a transparent process when it comes to understanding the status of my reimbursements.
Expensify way provides me with a clear and easy way to manage my monthly work expenses, combine them in a report, and submit them. It's easy to upload receipts, assign departments, and other necessary details like whether something is Direct, Overhead, or part of a Sub-Department. Creating expenses and submitting reports is a breeze and I assume this helps businesses track all of this on the backend in a clear way.
A lot of the information within the UI feels promotional and less helpful. There can be an excess of information at one time.

Expensify is very easy to use and does a great job with travel categories and keeping everything organized as an employee travels, or even just if it's internet/phone expenses done every month.
I love that Expensify has a website and an app. Since it's meant to keep track of travel expenses, the app has a feature that will save photos of receipts by taking a photo of them within the app, or they can be uploaded from your phone. For people who don't want to deal with the app, Expensify also can be used through its website, and receipt photos can be uploaded there.
I understand that expense reports need to be approved, but if the person at your company is slow at approval, Expensify doesn't seem to nudge or email reminders to that person, meaning the reports will be late unless the employee does the nudging and reminding.

Very pleased with this program.
The program is user-friendly for the most part - it's pretty easy to figure things out if you have questions - however, tech support availability would be nice.
When issues do arise, it would be nice to have technical support available.

1) I like that it interfaces easily with our banking websites and with our chart of accounts in Quickbooks. 2) Creating and submitting reports is easy, fast, and intuitive. 3) The app is very user friendly and doesn't require much training or effort to learn
1) At times there is a delay in the time it takes for transactions to load from our credit card. At other times, there is an error in loading them that requires you to go into your settings and 're-load'. If you don't check this regularly, you could be missing transactions you didn't know were there. 2) I wish that there was more detail included in the transaction description. Sometimes I have to look at the transaction on our banking site to find out more information about where the transaction took place, etc.

The thing I like the most about expensify is that it is super easy to use and isn't a hassle to integrate into the natural workflow like other softwares. All you need to do is just take a quick photo and its already on the software. Controlling your expenses in an easy to digest and manage application makes it less stressful and exhausting to make sure everything is in check. I didn't even know I wanted expensify until I used it.
There are some minor features that I would like to see added in the future, but as of now it is still a great product to use.

It was pretty easy to learn for our organization, and the picture capture tool for receipts works great right away. Way better than our paper system!
I love being able to capture receipts from my cell phone and choose which category to bill them too. Works great for categorizing receipts on the spot! I also love how it automatically captures info off the picture so I don’t have to do the work of entering merchant, total, date, etc.
I don’t love the way you have to make a report and submit it- I wish there was a way to submit a receipt on its own without having to go through the extra step of making a report and submitting again.

Back when I first started to use expensify, I was thrilled I was able to keep track of all my company expenses and payments easily through the app. But the app on the phone wasn't as well built as some other programs.
The thing I least liked about Expensify is that it's not as robust nor as easy to use of a program as other options out there. I ended up switching to Intuit self-employed app that fit my needs much better.

This software has changed a frustrating situation into a simple system! Even the tax man was impressed. No more receipts in a shoebox.
Easy to use and available on all my devices.
I'm sure I'm not using all of the features to the fullest.

Really solid experience - would recommend.
Expensify has a number of features that are intended to reduce the amount of time, energy, and effort that is spent submitting expenses. They include an auto-read function for taking photos of your receipts, a forward function - which allows you to send email receipts directly to expensify, and an auto-fill function for your phone app. All big time savers and make it easy to submit expenses
Sometimes, I have experienced glitches or bugs that make it hard to delete or submit expenses. Especially with approvals, there are often software glitches.

I like that you are able to create different policies so that you can categorize expenses. For example, we allow employees to reimburse their mobile device up to a certain amount, and the employee can only invoice for that amount each month. This helps us to track spending on those categories a little easier.
In general, expensify is not a very user friendly expense platform. I haven't used many other platforms, but this one requires a lot of admin oversight and support. Users have a difficult time creating reports and also navigating between different policies. There could also be an easier way to add employees to the system during the onboarding process, it's currently quite manual.

Our overall experience with Expensify has been very good. Admins, employees, approvers/managers and payroll find it very user friendly and a simplified way of submitting, approving and managing employee expense reimbursements. I would recommend this software for any company looking to streamline their process.
Expensify is a very user friendly expense management software. It was very easy to set up and add our categories and GLs for each department as well as the manager approval routing for each employee. Our employees find it very easy to submit their eligible work expenses and receipts and it's super easy for our managers to review and approve within seconds. I would highly recommend Expensify for expense reimbursement management software.
It was a bit confusing at first to figure out how to change the numerical report name to the expense topic/subject, but it is editable as needed.

The major benefit for me is expenses are submitted immediately and in an organized manner. I am able to upload the receipt and account for everything. Since it is so easy to use I can track expenses as they happen and submit when ready
Expensify is easy to navigate for users with all levels of experience with software and applications. The product provides simple instructions to enable user to keep track of business expenses in which they can be reimbursed. The software helps me to stay organize and submit my reimbursement in a timely manner.
There was really nothing about the software that I didn't like. I felt it was pretty self explanatory to use. I believe our HR department had some set up to do in order for things to work so easy for the end user.

Never keep a receipt again. This is a great tool for logging expenses for the entire staff. The photo option for receipts is a time saver.
There are times when the receipt image does not match the expense that is listed. I'm not sure of any work around.

I guess it's better than doing expense reports in Excel or by hand, but it's such a complex piece of software that it seems more like a solution looking for a problem than a solution to a problem. Maybe it would add more value in a larger organization with lots of expense reports (I use it with a client that requires 1-2 expense reports per month).
The software allows for online creation and approval of expense reports and credit card expense tracking. Expensify is an improvement over doing these tasks manually.
The interface is needlessly complicated and it's difficult to learn how to use and troubleshoot problems. There's this AI "concierge" built in to Expensify that I have found more often annoying than helpful. The credit card feeds break down sometimes, either not capturing expenses or applying the wrong dates to expenses, which fouls up the feed between Expensify and the GL software. There is a feature called "copilot mode" that allows users to access each other's accounts, which I still find confusing. It looks like Expensify is trying to make this a nice-looking interface with a good user experience, but they're just kind of missing the mark in my opinion.

My company uses Expensify for all of our expense reports. It is very easy to create reports and upload receipts. The work flow also makes it easy for directors and managers to approve reports and submit reimbursements.
I do not have many complaints about the software, my biggest complaint is more of a user error than anything. For each line item on a report there is a check box to verify whether the item is reimbursable. All of the expenses I submit are reimbursable so this box is unnecessary and I always forget to check it. I wish there was a way to check all to avoid this error.

To auto-mark expenses as Reimbursable, follow the instructions here: Go to Account Settings > Expense Rules > create an Expense Rule > put a period ¿.¿ in the ¿When the Merchant¿ name contains box. Then, choose Reimbursable. If you want this to apply to all past expenses, check the box for ¿apply to matching past expenses¿. The user interface is very intuitive to use and allows me to track and generate expenses with ease and saves me a lot of time.
I like that i can email my expenses and it automatically creates a report. It makes it incredibly simple to submit and track expenses.
Sometimes scanning takes a bit longer than expected.

I can't recommend this enough, we've moved to another platform (I won't mention here) and every week I miss expensify.
Before we deployed Expensify we used a cumbersome spreadsheet, and a zip files of jpgs to submit the receipts. It was painful, cumbersome, and made me delay doing expenses (which cost me money). Expensify with the simple app, great website, and smartscan feature for emailed receipts made keeping up on expenses simple.
The cost was higher than other solutions, and we just recently migrated away from it. I hope we decide to go back at some point.

Everyone hates filing expense reports, right? Not me, not after we switched to Expensify. They've made it so easy that I wish I had more expense repots to file. Did you ever think you'd hear that? They've made it so easy to add expenses that I no longer dread the end of the month. I love this app!
Love their AI. I can forward emailed receipts or snap a photo with my phone and their AI figures it out and populates the expense report. You can create rules, too, so that similar expenses are treated consistently. They've made it so easy to add expenses that I no longer dread the end of the month. Plus its easy to modify expense reports. You can also designate a credit card whose receipts will automatically go to Expensify and their AI will make remarkably good guess on how to classify charges.
Honestly, I can't think of a thing I'd change. I wish the rest of the world worked as well as Expensify.

All around pretty mediocre. The interface looks good but the actual functionality is quite lacking.
No integration with things like email so users have plenty of work to do to get receipts synced up with expenses. Also weird interface that requires some training to use.
Lack of integration with receipts / concierge idea and actual expense reports. Also SENSITIVE CONTENT sends unsolicited yet highly political email blasts to entire email list and then basically refuses to apologize for inappropriateness when confronted. There are tons of expense report tools - find one that doesn't tell you how to vote.
