Branded Learner Interface

Absorb LMS has managed to separate itself from competitors by offering clients the ability to create branded courses. In addition to adding various branded elements, such as logos and colors, course administrators have the ability to select their own language options to reflect unique regional dialects.

Absorb LMS’s team can help you to assemble a portal that’s in line with the esthetics of your company’s existing website. A few of the customizable branding items include your corporate logo, course images, colors, and terminology. You also have the option to create different experiences for different learners based on factors such as each learner’s location or the department within the company.

Mobile Learning Tools

Absorb LMS’s responsive HTML-5 interface means the platform will work on desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. Learners can complete online courses using whichever devices they have available, which reduces the burden on overworked IT staffers.

As an administrator, there is very little you need to do to ensure your courses are accessible across all connected devices. Just upload your course content and resources into Absorb LMS, and the solution will handle all the heavy lifting behind the scenes. Your courses will automatically adjust based on each learner’s screen size, resulting in an intuitive user experience.

E-commerce Enabled

In some cases, a business may want to sell its courses to students. Absorb LMS simplifies this process, with an e-commerce module that enables companies to mark courses as “for sale,” either individually or as bundles.

You can sell training courses to new or existing learners, or create a shopping cart that is available exclusively to registered learners from outside your organization. Variable pricing allows you to set different prices for members and non-members. Bulk sales are made possible with the use of enrollment keys.

Mercury Module

Mercury Module is an add-on engagement component. In most cases, it is used when learners require additional information alongside traditional training courses, such as news stories or polls to increase engagement.

If you’re looking for ways to increase the excitement surrounding your own courses, you can use the Mercury Module to send key messages to your audience. This includes creating your own linkable banners to promote new or upcoming courses, starting a blog that can be added to your learners’ dashboards, and finding out what your learners really think about a range of issues by using quick polls.

Custom Reporting

Absorb LMS offers customizable reports, which gives administrators the ability to get whatever information they need from their LMS. One of Absorb LMS’s most popular reports is the Learning Matrix, which provides a summary of where all groups or subgroups of learners are at within specific courses, based on which activities they have completed so far.

In addition to tracking learner activity and progress, you can also track things like department progress, learner competencies, course activities, exam and task completions, and ILC sessions and activities. Standardized course evaluations can also help you determine which courses are providing the greatest value for your learners, and certificate reports show all certificates currently saved in the system.

Absorb LMS...simply great!

This LMS is the best or near the top of providers and tools if you use instructor-led and online learning. For the pricing, you won't find a better tool. Like all solutions there are things that could be improved, but outside of custom products, Absorb LMS is a superb product, with great support, and a company that has become a learning partner.

Pros

Career module for easy tracking of employee needed and acquired job skills.

Cons

Must use a third party content development tool.

Great LMS solution

Absorb is a solid LMS and a great solution compared to any alternative we examined from a cost/benefit perspective. Things that are cons are more than made up for by the pure breadth of functionality available for the price, and they're very very good at taking customer feedback and making improvements to their product. I'd be comfortable recommending them to any business looking to start up a new LMS or replace an aging in-house system.

Pros

Integrates with our web-based training platform (Adobe Connect), supports both self-paced and instructor-led courses, responsive to customer requests, able to go from zero to fully-functional LMS in a matter of days.

Cons

Can be a bit clunky and non-intuitive, difficult to set up and classes as individual objects (each course requires the set-up of a separate instance, even if you want a 1:1 ratio between setup and delivery), finance-based reporting (and reporting in general, actually) is just OK (but getting better), Flash interface that requires pop-ups is a recurring complaint, needs better user account flexibility (i.e. ability for users to manage their information, change their password, etc.) and security (everything is stored/visible in clear text).

The interface is gorgeous and importing your learners is a snap.

Pros

Fantastic customer support Easy to use design Quick import of new learners Easily upload any type of multimedia Customizable interface for branding Out of the box solution at a reasonable price point No extra IT or web developer support required

Cons

It would be great to: - Quickly switch between Admin and Learner to see a course - Create a "test" user who can take courses over and over again just to test functionality without having to enroll, un-enroll and then re-enroll - Show and disable the contest feature (without having customer support perform this function)

Absorb LMS - Great Product and Customer Service

They also have a great customer service team that is always responsive to our needs and are willing to work with us to incorporate new updates to our system.

Pros

Once we were satisfied with our finished product we were able to easily introduce the software to our employees to use with minimal training required.

Cons

We were able to work around this feature by uploading course content through another provider which was easily imported into our current system.

Great for brand personalization

We are ensuring that our coaches receive consistent information through the modules we have designed. This platform has also allowed us also track module completion.

Pros

Since our elearnings are branded and we are focused on brand pride.

Cons

We have had some issues with uploading different file types into our document library. This has been something that creates delays in our coaches being able to access the materials needed for our weekly trainings. Supervisors also then don't have the materials to effectively lead their weekly meetings.

Even with the issues with reports and the test view, it’s still very much worth the money, if not just for the mobile app. We highly recommend Absorb if you’re looking for an easy-to-use LMS software that isn’t absurdly expensive.

Pros

There are so many features packed into the system, even in the mobile versions.

Cons

Reporting and exporting reports seem to not work quite as well as we would hope, though it isn’t a deal-breaker.

As a company that puts customer service above all else, Absorb is our learning engine helping us deliver on that promise to our customers.

Pros

- Super easy for end users to get to training quickly - Saved over 50% in costs from Cornerstone and saving more everyday in reduced administration costs - Sales and support friendly and quick to help - Wide range of content support and did not have to rebuild a single training report - Flexible API offering unmatched integrations - SSO and Shopping cart easy to implement and works right the first time AbsorbLMS does one thing only, and does it right - manage my training.

Cons

After six months of use, I have not come across a "least" like for Absorb. I would like to see more customization options for lower layer pages, but I cannot say this is an "issue" as I am still exploring the many possibilities offered by Absorb. For once, I have an LMS that I have not outgrown, I am still playing catch-up!

Staff goes above and beyond

We've been with Absorb for over 2 years and I can say hands down you won't find better support and overall excellent treatment of customers than by Blatant.

Pros

The ease of speaking with Absorb's staff to help resolve issues or problems is unprecedented. They are fast to reply and willing to jump into issues that could very well end up as problems with the compilation of a course, which is beyond the scope of the LMS. If the system doesn't have something, requests are put on a wish list and a good number are implemented with each release.

Cons

Two things I would like to see implemented: Customizable reports 24/7 support from Blatant staff.

My tips for evaluating an LMS: 1. Understand your various users' technical capabilities and carefully evaluate the user experience. 2. Clearly define the types of training you deliver today and are likely to over the next 3-5 years, and determine if the LMS will support this. 3. Understand the technical level required by your admins and the amount of training they will need. 4. Carefully evaluate the flexibility of the LMS and the cost of any needed modifications or customization. 5. Think through the tracking and reporting needs of your user groups - not just the minimum needed by each group, but how can you enhance their experience and add-value through tracking and reporting. Evaluate the LMS in terms of the reporting, looking at the LMS' reporting capabilities and/or the ease of exporting data to other reporting modules. 6. Evaluate the various capabilities for testing and scoring. 7. Evaluate the stability of the LMS in the regions or countries where your users are located.
