What is Vonage Business Communications?

Vonage Business offers a cloud-hosted business VoIP phone system which comes with over 40 calling features including cell phone integration, desktop plugins, and voicemail to email, plus additional features which can be added to the account for an additional fee.

Key benefits of using Vonage Business Communications

Busy Lamp Field (BLF) allows users to see which phones on the system are in use, in real time. Each BLF key acts as speed dial to the associated phone.

Call announce whispers an audible call tag before the call is connected, informing users of the caller ID, and for calls forwarded to personal cell phones, an announcement that the incoming call is a business call, to ensure a professional answer.

Call continuity reroutes calls to a backup number in the event of loss of power or Internet connection, preventing service interruption and dropped calls.

Call recording is available both company-wide and on demand on an extension-by-extension basis. Company-wide recording is controlled by system administrators, with files downloadable and shareable by email. On-demand recording allows users to record important calls to verify conversation details or take accurate notes, and works with the mobile app.

Call monitoring allows administrators to listen in on users’ calls to monitor performance, and also “whisper” to the user on the call, and “barge” into the call and speak to both parties. Calls can be monitored anywhere in the world.

Call groups can be set up, creating virtual departments with every extension ringing simultaneously for an inbound call to ensure that no inbound calls are missed.

Voicemail-to-email and voicemail transcription enable users to check their voicemail from their PC and phone, check messages when it is not possible to take a call, and forward voicemails via email.

The virtual receptionist lets users route callers to the appropriate department or individual, and customize call routing for holidays, lunchtimes or after hours calls. A main company number can then be used on promotional material, with callers directed to the correct department by selecting a menu option.

Vonage Business cloud technology supports conference bridge, allowing up to 30 users to participate in a single call, on a dedicated number, with no need for a third-party conferencing system.

Paperless fax removes the need for manual faxing, facilitates the sending of faxes from both mobile and desktop, gives all users their own fax numbers and manages all email, voicemails and faxes in a single inbox.

Pros
It has several useful features that work great for your business needs. Compared to other similar software out there, Vonage is way more reliable for your communication needs.
We needed a business phone for our remote office and this system worked perfectly. Thank you for a low-cost, quality solution.
Overall experience is good as the matter of fact we keep using this service. I still recommend using Vonage as it is very helpful for remote business management.
Cons
This company is just so horrible to deal with. Will ruin your day if you have to interact with Vonage Business Support, again only by CHAT from untrained techs.
Poor call quality, Terrible Customer Service and cancellation policy deception.
Their software can have conflicts and compatibility issues depending on the browser. A. Their software TokBox appears to work only with Chrome.

Many available features and smooth transition

Reviewed 3 years ago

We just switched our company over from RingCentral. RC was easy to navigate, so Vonage is taking some time to learn, but the transition was easy and the features I've been able to use already have been spotless. Having a softphone availability is critical and Vonage Business seems to have created a flawless version.

Pros

I really like the option of a virtual receptionist. As a remote worker, it's vital to have someone "answer" the phone if I miss a call.

Cons

So many features are available to integrate, but it does get overwhelming looking through all the options.

Only regret is that we didn't upgrade sooner!

Reviewed 2 years ago

I appreciate the high level of customer service and the responsiveness of the team in general. We decided to move from land lines to VoIP and are very happy that we opted to partner with Vonage for the transition. They have been very patient and helpful along the way.

Pros

The flexibility of this software is my favorite feature. I mostly work from home, and I can easily make changes for any of our users from the online dashboard, the computer app, or the phone app. The end-users at our office have successfully learned how to navigate the handsets and the online dashboards.

Cons

We are still working on our fax numbers. Porting the number from our previous provider has proven difficult.

Vonage Customer Service Complaints

Reviewed 3 years ago

I would like a manager to contact me from Vonage. I recently set up services with Vonage rep. [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN]. Our account number is [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN]. I am disgusted with the service I am getting from the Vonage rep. I spent a great deal of time comparing Vonage to Nextiva and decided to go with [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN]. [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] assured us he “would not disappear...

Pros

I didn’t like it. I liked hearing all the promises, by the second our payment was taken service is non-existent.

Cons

Customer Services/functionality has been horrible!

Premium Pricing, Insufficient Support, Unnecessarily Complex Interface

Reviewed 4 years ago

It provides us with voice communications including an autoattendant. However, the experience has been quite frustrating due to high prices and poor service. The only reason I haven't switched us is because other more important projects are waiting.

Pros

- The mobile app is pretty slick and just works.

Cons

- Pricing is on the higher end for these sort of services and lots of functionality not included by default, must use paid add-on. - The emails they send regularly link to their old admin dashboard, when you click you are prompted to visit the new dashboard, redirected to the individual (instead of admin) dashboard and then have to navigate into the admin dashboard. - The UI has improved leaps and...
