HOUZZ for Kitchen and Bath Professionals

The lead generation is appreciated but confusing. Too much calling, emailing, texting. I try to contact most leads but few return my calls or emails. Sometimes they are confused as to why I am calling. Some, I think, just tell HOUZZ something because they got too far into the query.

Pros

After almost 10 years with HOUZZ I feel the cost is worth it. We have a large metropolitan area we include in our advertising. The ability to show potential customers our projects is the number 1 reason we use it. Although many features have been added, the only other one we use is the lead generating aspect. It takes attention and time but we do get some good leads that turn into projects.

Cons

All of the added features are included in other software we already use such as DropBox , Quickbooks, and Asana. Starting over did not make sense for us. I have looked at some of the features but they appeared to take too much time to get started.

Updates cause commotion which is frustrating - "new" experience vs. old experience is hard to toggle through

Very pleasant, great customer service. Houzz has made many improvements over the last year.

Pros

Estimate cost is very accurate, templates are a huge time saver. Sharing info with customer is super easy is many different formats. Love taking payments online. Lots of visuals that help sell the project.

Cons

No exterior design. Finding some categories at first can be time consuming as it has so many specific different line items.

I am overall happy with the software I believe it will continue to get better.

Pros

Has a lot of features and allows you to do most everything you need to do within one system.

Cons

I believe they are still growing and trying to make the system easy for everyone and every tool so it is a bit glitchy at times and seems they are still building the system based on feedback.

Love using Houzz Pro for my Interior Design business

Pros

Having project folders with room boards to keep organized and up to date. Invoicing software is seamless and easy to use.

Cons

I've always had issues with the Mood Boards and how blurry the image looks when downloading to sent to clients. So I stopped using that feature almost immediately.

Houzz pro makes the daily tasks with team members and homeowners effortlessly and keeps everyone on the same page with changes and updates for project management. The customers are impressed and help us as a company stand out in a crowded marketplace.

Cons

I haven't found a single feature that has deterred us from wanting to use Houzz Pro.

Pros

It has everything we need to successfully run our business.

Cons

There were some frustrating glitches happening when Houzz took over Ivy but they seem to be worked out for now.

I am still using it for leads, tracking, portfolio display, and reviews to build new business.

Pros

The analytics are very helpful to keep track of progress and what is showing as successful.

Cons

No scheduling component for projects and all the phases of present product, price product, order product, the product arrives/delivered/inspected. All helpful for the communication of the project and job site progress.

Great for Interior Designers

Pros

Industry-specific features make it a great solution for interior designers. Wonderful personalized support from the Houzz Team, is always appreciated.

Cons

The virtual site-measure tool needs improvement - not sure if the technology is there yet, but as is it requires that the measure options are on the same level - easy with empty spaces, hard when there are furniture pieces in the way. Can't wait for that tool to improve in the future!

"Marketing, Production and Financial Tools that show promise for professionals"

We started the Houzz Pro subscription to update our professional profile, create a new website and give ourselves more exposure. All of these goals have been achieved and we feel our overall experience with [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] has been a pleasure. As a former creative director, I directed her with my vision to see through every detail of the profile, our projects and the website design/content.

Pros

Learning and using the Leads and Projects features/functions has been a good way to track jobs as long as you have a dedicated person managing it. Some of the other tools like mood boards and 3D tools have not been tested out yet, but seem like they would add value working with clients in the future.

Cons

1. The fact that you can't print out leads details has been a challenge and should be made available. Taking a screen capture to then print out is added time. 2. When scheduling project tasks, I would also like to print out the detail and hours for each task entered. This would help with sending out monthly invoices on jobs and tracking employee tasks. 3. Many times a lead comes in and we respond, but then Houzz Pro sends out an email to us to ask if we've followed up? 4. I found out from our accountant that QBonline does not integrate with QBdesktop. So, while we like the Estimate, Invoices and Change Order tools provided by Houzz Pro, we still need to have our bookkeeper "re-enter" these once a month into QBdesktop to keep track of everything. So this adds some extra time too.

Project Management for Ordering Items

Overall it was easy to impliment and easy to use. We don't use all the functionality it has but some things don't fit exactly what we need anyways.

Pros

I like having a visual image attached to each item going onto our invoices and proposals. They are easy to create, easy to apply payments and convert proposals to invoices.

Cons

Creating room boards so they are more like visual mood boards. We use a totally different software for this feature since this one isn't as user friendly. I dislike that you can't move items around within the proposals. If you forget something and you want to group it on a room with other things, you have to delete everything til you get where you want it to go and then add it all back in again.

Doesn't fit our current business model

Our purpose in using Houzz Pro was to bring in quality leads. That was the only function we desired to use it for, bringing us leads that fit our business model. Our hope was that Houzz Pro would filter out leads that weren't a good fit, and connect us with people who were a good fit. That's two separate objectives, and Houzz Pro isn't meeting either of those. Most of the leads we get are not looking to hire at all, or they aren't looking to hire a company like ours. They're looking to hire directly, not work with a general contractor.

Pros

Houzz Pro has a good look and is constantly updating it's capabilities.

Cons

Some of the newer features are more about Houzz doing something, than creating a product that connects quality leads with professionals. They make a lot of noise and do a lot of things, but no one really benefits. Concierge services, especially has been very unhelpful. Also, they way Houzz Pro redesigned it's format is not as user friendly for our objectives.

The Most Unhelpful Account Managers We've Ever Experienced

Our account manager is incredibly unhelpful. They are unable to answer simple questions or provide documentation in writing. They demand we get onto a call for every simple issue and are incapable of doing the most basic work in a timely or efficient manner.

Pros

We occasionally get good leads through this software but even those are far and few between.

Cons

It is impossible to get a straight answer out of an account manager without being forced into a "quick call" that is a screen share of everything I can already access in our backend. They seem incapable of providing any real pricing structure or documentation of pricing and billing. It makes me wonder where my money is truly going that this is such a complicated process they don't have it readily available in writing.

The business problems that have been solved by Houzz have been making my business visible and boosting it with reviews, and the SEO of my website. In the past I have used individuals to manage my website and SEO at great expense and with minimal effect, and have tried to use a variety of ways to make my business visible. Houzz has taken care of all of this,

Pros

The most important feature on Houzz for me is the quality of their customer service reps. Over the years I have had several, some are more attentive than others. My current rep is [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] and he is wonderful. He calls on a regular basis and always answers my questions in a timely manner. This is important because I sometimes get stuck on the technical aspects of Houzz. [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] always explains what is going on and how I should use the technology to boost my business. The other terrific aspect of Houzz is that it manages my website and SEO. This has been invaluable.

Cons

The hardest thing for me is that the technology sometimes gets ahead of me.

Houzz Pro review

Houzz Pro provides me a way to capture the details of a project and simplifies bringing all of the moving pieces together in one place so that I can then present the design to my clients.

Pros

I like using the product clipper to capture items for each project and then easily create proposals and invoices to pass onto the client.

Cons

The recent changes to Houzz Pro, the "New Experience" seem to make the process much more complicated than before. It is far less intuitive. I don't understand why the software developers continue to make changes when something is not broken. I'm finding it much more difficult to create proposals, invoices and finding out basic information about each project. I really miss Document tags!!!!! Now I have to open each invoice or proposal to find out what its for. It's taking me more time to use the new experience. I'm actually looking into different project management software to see if they will work better for me.

Because I have not used Houzz pro to it's full capacity, I can not comment on this question, I can however, say that it has helped organize several working structured with in my company.

Pros

What I like the most about Houzz Pro is the ease of being able to see all my leads. The quality and versatility to be able to showcase all my projects. The communication I can have with potential clients. I still have so much to learn about Houzz pro , and what it could do for my small buisness. Its very professional

Cons

I have tried a few features like 3-d - It's a little wonky- I give a much better result using software's like auto cad and chief architect. The 3d and plan layout would be good for decorators not designers or architects. I also tried the site survey option , where the tools measures a space for you and generates itself into a plan. this is a big miss.

Good but still has a long way to go for a professional design firm

It has been good. We have a large firm so it's been a bit hard to get the support to onboard and properly train everyone. I need to be able to pay someone to do it and that is not offered. Training is limited. The site tends to "glitch" a lot, not save items, and has a tendency to be down and not functional for hours which is not an option for a busy firm with 10+ designers.

Pros

Ease between saving products and the ability to organize into various documents.

Cons

The documents are very rudimentary and basic. It really needs to function more like Quickbooks with the Estimating, invoices, purchase orders and have a tracking system that is a bit better for the flow in between. Room boards are a bit restricting and not set up for a professional design firm. Design boards are not advanced at all, cannot add outside items easily. Cannot show client facing presentation, very frustrating.

Houzz Pro and its tools are invaluable to my growing business. From gaining new clients and managing the sales cycle while on the run, to the comprehensive backend analytics, Houzz is the complete platform that I trust. Having flexibility to arrange projects in different orders. Viewing them in the vertically listing would be ideal in alphabetical order for me to find them quickly. The Houzz team is working on this for me :)

HP... a work in progress!

We do like the system overall! The client facing system is professional; however, there are several enhancements we are waiting for to make this a one stop shop for our clients and our projects.

Pros

We love the room boards and file storage.

Cons

There is a LONG way to go to get the Selections Reports we need without doctoring the documents we export from HP. Also... the online payment options are confusing and have caused us to look foolish as it is not easy to navigate for our clients.

Value for the cost

I have been with them since the beginning, and seen many versions of this. I adore the people who work with us when there are glitches, wish there were less glitches and that new versions were highly tested before being let loose but appreciate the open dialogue with the company. The product is only getting better and grateful for what it can do for us.

Pros

The project based software is a a must for our business. There are many features the program offers but what we use this for largely is project selection, proposals, and invoicing with clients.

Cons

In any software system there is always room for improvement, overall I love that the team is constantly working to improve and seeking input from the users on how to improve. Are there things I wish this could do now that would make our life easier, YES, but overall ok with the way things are working and getting used to the newest version.

Houzz Pro fits the bill for this small homebuilding company

My overall experience with Houzz Pro is quite good. It is robust enough yet simple enough to work for this small contractor.

Pros

I like the timeline, the tasks section, the daily logs (super easy to use, including pictures - my clients are loving this). I am starting to use the budgeting and estimating side and I like it so far.

Cons

There are a few small hiccups with how information is communicated with subs and vendors, but I fully expect this to get better in the near future. Houzz is constantly adding new features. I don't like not being able to view the timelines on mobile devices. Add this functionality please!

Great software for Interior Designers

Overall houzz is a very valuable tool for my business, and helps our design firm source and track products for our clients

Pros

Our team uses Houzz Pro to source product for clients, track billable hours, send proposals to clients, invoice clients, create purchase orders, and track products through installation. Essentially I view Houzz Pro as a fantastic PRODUCT MANAGEMENT software.

Cons

Some things I dont like about Houzz Pro; it could be much more robust when it comes to helping a manager of a larger design firm manage time and billable hours, etc. I wish there was a dashboard where I could see real time info on who is clocked in for billable time, how many billable hours our team has recorded for the month or year, as well as sales data reporting. I used to own a boutique and used Quickbooks Point of Sale and it had an amazing dashboard where I could customize the reports and see all sorts of important info as the business owner. All that data is inside Houzz but there's not an admin dashboard that at a glance gives you data reporting. Also the CRM feature could be better.

I did not have any prior experience using Houzz Pro before working at KRB. I am impressed by the pro directory and add features that can be a great opportunity for us to set ourselves apart and be found by the kind of clients we are targeting. Having the ability to run local ads in our target areas of New Hampshire is something that helps us grow our brand, which is exactly our goal. I also think having the ability to showcase our work on another platform other then our website and social media platforms is a great way to extend our reach and again, be right on track with our competitors.

Pros

I would say that Houzz is becoming a an increasingly important resource for us to showcase our work and help people understand how our process works. The projects we showcase combined with the brief bios we include help people understand our design process and also help them see why working with a designer is so important. We specialize in kitchen and bath renovations and that's what sets us apart from our area competition and through updating our profile we continue to showcase how superior our designers and team are.

Cons

I would say the drawback to Houzz is how even with the filters for the scope of work we do, we still have so many people reaching out that do not match our scope of work. This means we have to filter through these leads instead of having a pipeline that would be potential customers for us. If there was a better way to filter through these leads then we would have a better opportunity to connect with...

Enjoying the Professionalism of Houze Pro!

Right now I'm pretty exhausted after working all day on several projects, but I will do my best with this. It seems that all the prospects I receive are wanting to do quite a bit of work, after being in their homes for all these months; but don't have the budget to do what they want, so even though I give a free consultation on the phone and answer all their questions. I really like almost all of the features for Houzz Pro. I also really appreciate my dedicated account manager..[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN]...He always tries to call back ASAP and is very upbeat and helpful!! Please keep the prospect description short. In my opinion it should always fill just ONE sheet so it can be copied and followed up on until we get results of some kind.. and the phone number should show with it. Sometimes when I click on it, the screen changes, and I have to go find the phone number by clicking on Leads and going through putting the name in just to get the phone number. It's hard to describe, but that's it has recently started tot be a problem.. Otherwise it is very easy to work with. Please keep it informative, but short.

Yes the REVIEW section could be improved. I have had several people have trouble in trying to give me a review, even though I have sent them a request for it from my end using their email address! Please make it easier for the client to leave a review. Second: I always send an email immediately after trying to call the lead. I NEVER have had a prospect say they received it! . there must be a fault in what Houzz puts as a Subject line, but they don't open it or receive it and reply to me. At that point, this is the ONLY way we can get in touch with some of them especially if the phone number is busy or incorrect. ! Please improve it and get it to the prospect right away. That would help a lot! What is happening here?
