Employee Driven Payroll

From our old payroll solution, Paycom is head and shoulders above what we had before, it is efficient and the cost-savings in all aspects of HR are great. Standing on it's own, it has some quirks that we need to get used to and support is lacking at times, but once you can get to someone, it's pretty easy to get any issues fixed up with a simple phone call (although it may take you 2-3 of them to actually get someone).

Pros

Switching from our previous solution, Paycom allowed us to move towards more employee empowerment and transparency. We were able to move our time clock out of our ERP system into payroll directly cutting down the time to process. The initial costs of the product were good, although add-ons can be expensive for items. We can manage all aspects of the HR lifecycle from onboarding, benefit administration and sign-up, weekly payroll, tax calculations, even robust reporting through the system. Use of the website and mobile app makes it much easier to manage for employees and administrators.

Cons

Costs can add up as you add on features that you'd like to have, but have to justify the costs for them. At one time we looked at the LMS system, but the per user cost was prohibitive to add on to the payroll. Our original thought was to move away from our old payroll solution to save money, we end up paying about the same, but have a more modern infrastructure now and more app-based interface which is good for the users. Support could be better at times, while we have a dedicated rep, getting a hold of them can be a trick.

Best of the Best

Paycom is the corvette of HR and time management systems. We looked at many other products, and very few offered all native modules, and a nearly perfect user experience... Those that did would be the super-cars of the industry, they may be ultra performant, hyper tuned, or can do anything, BUT that often makes them expensive and hard to maintain. Paycom struck the perfect balance for our company.

Pros

Paycom pays their sales team and integrations people based on the success of the company they are selling to. The software is intuitive, web and mobile friendly, and most importantly all native to the paycom system unlike almost every other vendor we looked at.

Cons

A bit pricey, some modules are not included by default, not as flexible as some other tools we looked at.

One of the best solutions for HR

Using Paycom as an Administrator is a breeze. Easy to set up, great for reporting, payroll processing, and customer support (I have a designated representative). No more case numbers or long waiting calls. For employees, or standard users, the system is easy to navigate. The Paycom App is fantastic.

Pros

As Administrator of the system, Paycom is convenient/easy to use. The modules such as Benefits Administration, Time and Attendance, Document Management, Expense Management, Applicant Tracking, are very intuitive to use. The report writer is the best. Compared with ADP, Paycom is one of the most user-friendly HRMS out there. Customer support is great. Each account/company has a designated representative assigned.

Cons

Price. The products are wonderful, but it comes with a price. Every company/organization has its uniqueness. Finding a perfect HR software is not easy, but Paycom meets all the criteria I need.

A good solution for the money

Overall we are very pleased with the scope and breadth of the system. We are finding that we are able to solve many HR challenges through this platform. And they are continually improving the product. Even in the last 10 months, some of the things that would have made to the "What do you like least about this software?" list have been resolved through new product releases.

Pros

We implemented Paycom after becoming frustrated with a much more expensive solution. We have been using it for about 10 months and are still amazed at how intuitive the software is. Our HR team has been able to go right into the system and begin using it with very little formal training which a plus when time is tight. But I would also recommend taking their webinar training when offered. I've picked...

Cons

We are still hopeful that Paycom will come out with a more robust API that will allow us to share employee data bi-directionally. For now, you can export data from Paycom to share across other software systems but you cannot write into Paycom. Everything needs to be manually imported.

We use the Paycom HRIS similarly to most companies might us it; for payroll, employee management and talent acquisition. The system has decreased the amount of time we spend on every day tasks. It's simplified the payroll process, transitioned us from paper to digital in many ways and added value to the new hire process. The ability to on-board new hires electronically has been a vital time savings....

Pros

Paycom may not have the brand recognition of a larger HRIS, but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be a front-line contender. The software is robust with capabilities that round out its fairly intuitive interface. If you have a need for an HRIS, chances are good that Paycom will be able to satisfy it. Cons

Paycom offers a bevy of features, but you won't find all of these enabled at the onset. As you dig through the manual, you will find interesting features that aren't present in your HRIS. This is usually because they're not enabled which doesn't always mean that they come at an extra cost. It only means that these specific features have not been turned on and that you need to request that functionality...

User Friendly System

Overall experience has been great. Any issues or questions we may have are quickly addressed and we have an extremely knowledgeable dedicated account specialist.

Pros

Paycom software is very easy to understand and navigate. The modules are very comprehensive in terms of available features. The reporting feature allows you to pull information in a variety of formats. And the end-user has their HR information right at their finger tips which allows for easy access and updating information convenient.

Cons

Paycom has annual price increases to the software that we use. We started with a certain price which has changed over time.

Customer Service Needs Improvement

Paycom's field customer service could use improvement. When we first joined with Paycom, our account manager was responsive and available when we needed something until we pushed back on additional charges for an item. From then on, I never heard from her. Many months later, I spoke with someone at the corporate office about an add on product and was introduced to our new account manager. Things were going great until we pushed back on a module because we didn't see the value. The account manager then become unresponsive. Finally, her manager reached out and he also would take many days to respond. In my experience, when things aren't positive or a hard conversation needs to happen, the field employees go silent.

Pros

I think that the process for setting up and running payroll is easy and user friendly. I have never had any issues with getting payroll processed.

Cons

You need to pay for everything in the system. For example, I would like to have reports pushed daily to a manager to review hours worked and I would need to pay extra for that. Instead, I have to manually run the report daily. We already pay a lot for this system and I don't think that I should need to pay more!

Preferred software for our Payroll and timekeeping needs

Overall, we are very pleased with Paycom's software and support services. Although ADP is more of the "household name" in the Payroll and timekeeping software space, and is slightly less expensive, Paycom seemed to be the better option.

Pros

Our employees like using AND as the business owner, I like the self-service nature of the software tools, especially timekeeping and punch edits.

Cons

On the administrator end, there needs to be more standardized reporting options. Also, from a user experience, too many click throughs are needed to accomplish a simple task or retrieve data. For example minimum of 4 click throughs just to retrieve an employee's contact info.

A bit pricey and several fees but a solid product

Using Paycom is a pretty good experience overall. Other than being charged quite a lot in fees and charges and having to reach out to support with complex issues it is a pretty easy software to use and maintains payroll records quite well.

Good product but definitely pricey

Nice software with lots of flexibility but every function has a cost so it isn't really plug-in-play.

Pros

There are great features and reporting and lots of flexibility for user defined components.

Cons

Price is a bit much. There are lots of things you can do with it, but every little thing comes with a price. It doesn't work well with all enterprise systems, so you can make it work, but again, for a price.

Paycom

My experience with them have been great. Their representative comes onsite once every few months to discuss any new updates they've made and check to see if we have any questions regarding the software.

Pros

Simplifies the hiring and onboarding process of employees from the moment an application is submitted all the way through their new hire orientation. Allows a manager to send out training, notifications regarding benefits etc. Has the ability to process background checks directly through the software which cost less than other background check companies.

Cons

Wish the candidate tracker and applicant tracker would communicate. You can turn an applicant to a candidate but you cannot turn a candidate to an applicant which makes it pointless to use the candidate tracker. Other than I have no complaints

Company Change

Overall i had no problem with Paycom, it was just the system we used daily for clocking in and out, as well as editing time cards, and checking pay stubs

Pros

I enjoyed using Paycom for the short time my company used it, before switching back to ADP. It was easy to use, navigate, and teach.

Cons

Some companies offer different types of discounts, and "coupons" with their service like ADP. I can get cheaper hotels, rental cars, discounts at restaurants all different types of perks.

Employee productivity and ease of onboarding

Paycom makes it easier to keep track of new employees and handle HR records. Because of the software, the HR and Finance departments are now more productive than they were before.

Pros

Paycom is a user-friendly and efficient HRIS solution that incorporates application tracking, on-boarding, payroll, and HR analytics. Small non-profits will love this low-cost tool. I liked Paycom because it made it easier to upload large amounts of employee data rather than having to manually enter it into separate systems for HRIS and Payroll.

Cons

The first set-up is time-consuming and needs a significant amount of effort at the beginning of the process. Once this process is completed, the day-to day programs are rather simple to use.

Paycom Full Featured Solution

New Leaf wanted to get a better payroll processing solution in place and Paycom delivers that in spades. The employee self service modules will make us more efficient over the long haul.

Pros

Paycom started out as a payroll processing system for New Leaf. Today we are launching the employee self service solutions that will give our agents control over their HR world at our company. The product is very easy to use and has features that cross over all areas of HR solutions.

Cons

The pricing seems on the high side but the solution does deliver on the promises that the sales people make for it. The pricing is complicated and they charge for every solution you launch.

This is a great alternative to ADP! If you are looking for a new HRIS system, check it out.

This has allowed us to simply our new hire onboarding dramatically. Additionally, it allows us to significantly cut down on the paperwork surrounding our employees as all forms can be electronically signed and saved in the system.

Pros

For the price, its a great alternative to the big box companies offering their HRIS platforms. Their payroll, benefits administration, documents facilitation, etc is excellent. This product is great if you are looking to pull your company out of the stone age as we have. We especially like the electronic new hire paperwork option.

Cons

Talent Management portal sometimes lacks the applicant flow over other ATS platforms. There are some quirks about the system (as all systems have it) where you can't delete duplicate profiles, limitations with dynamic access groups for managers, etc. But they are always improving.

We use Paycom for both our ATS and Payroll with ease. Our employees find the platform easy to use.

Pros

For Payroll, the cost of this service is better than other platforms for a business less than 200 employees. It's easy for our employees to use on their phone for clocking in and out and managers find it easy to approve time bi-weekly. For the ATS, it really cuts down on double entry throughout the recruiting process. Fairly simply user interface that really extends a user's access to their talent acquisition. Customer service has also been great with our rep coming into our office on a somewhat regular basis. You don't see that kind of attention for a software provider.

Cons

While this isn't the case for just Paycom's ATS, you are unable to manually enter a applicant into the system from the recruiter dashboard. It can only handle applicants who apply online either through a job board or your website. They offer an API but it's priced so that you can't justify it. On the Payroll side, I personally don't have any issues with the system. Maybe not having more self service tools? We use IP based time management and you have to call them directly to update those IP addresses.

Paycom complete HRIS and Payroll system

Paycom helps streamline the on-going tasks of on-boarding and HRIS management. The software cuts own time-consuming aspects of people management and has increased the efficiency of the HR and Finance departments.

Pros

Paycom is an efficient and user friendly HRIS system that includes applicant tracking, on-boarding, payroll, and HR metrics. This is a wonderful, cost friendly tool for small non-profits.

Cons

The initial set-up is cumbersome and requires a good amount of upfront effort. However, once this process is complete, using the day-to-day programs are fairly easy.

Our current support team and Rep are fantastic!

Pros

Ease of use. The software is very intuitive and requires very little training time before someone can begin to navigate and begin to use it effectively. This is especially important with a broad user base who doesn't use the system regularly. Also, price is very reasonable.

Cons

Features are limited so it is often very restrictive, allowing for little to no customization where needed.

Pros

Paycom is an intuitive system, so new employees and supervisors get up to speed on it quickly. The company is responsive to client feedback. We have seen many improvements in the 5 years we have been using it. Customer support and our account rep are helpful and responsive.

Cons

Adding features beyond payroll and applicant tracking can get expensive because of the per employee per month fees for an organization where 90% of employees are part-time, and many are working only a few hours per week.

Excellent Customer Service

We have a much better handle on our employee cost after we converted to Paycom.

Pros

Our company did a fourth quarter conversion. The data was converted effortlessly on our part. The system is very user friendly and our employees enjoy the flexibility of accessing their data on a mobile device. The managers are extremely happy with the custom reports.

We have not found anything at this point.

Bait and switch, twice now. Do not recommend.

Pros

Client specialist is excellent at responding.

Cons

Beware this is a company that seems to be having some internal changes to its policies and practices. The first sign is when our sales person quit. Upper Management and local sales team members blame others instead of focusing on customer service and doing the right thing. We were absolutely "misled". Twice. We should have gone with Paylocity which was considerably less expensive but chose this company...

Great complete HRIS system with Payroll. Great Value

Very happy to strongly recommend Paycom. They have a great product, great customer care and at a very good value. We evaluated 10 other HRIS systems with Payroll and are glad we chose the right company.

Pros

Complete solution for growing companies with huge functionalities and a system to keep you out of trouble with all the HR and DOL rules etc. Superior customer support. We have been very happy with the very high level of customer support, training and systems work. I have not worked with a vendor before that had this high level of support. They really care and make sure you understand the product well and how to maximize the benefits. Other software vendors we've used for HR as well as other products had nowhere near this level of support.

Cons

Its a very good product. I just want the company to continue to prioritize upgrades based on customer feedback.

Honestly not worth the cost

We've had Paycom for 3 years. Not a single rep we've ever worked with has had HR or payroll experience so they have no context for any of our questions or issues. You have to explain to the customer service rep how their own system works in order for them to understand the problem you're having. We've also had 6 different customer service reps in 3 years - they keep quitting. I don't blame them, they...

Pros

Once you understand how it works, you can figure most things out for yourself. And you'll have to.

Cons

Everything is so manual that administrators will spend a lot of additional time on processes and transactions. Customer Service is really terrible - they don't know how their own system works and they don't follow through on commitments.

Does the job, keeps things simple

Overall our rapidly growing business was due for a professional, easy, and affordable tool to manager payroll, benefits, HR related things, etc. and this was perfect.

Pros

I can only compare it to what was offered before to employees. We used to be TriNet users. TriNet was very confusing that the customer service left much to desire. In contrast, Paycom is extremely simple, user friendly, and easy to manager. No complaints from employees, great customer service too!

Cons

I don't like that there are certain notifications that don't automatically go away even after they have been completed. It's annoying.
