This is one hell of a product. The perfect way to get started with marketing automation without having to get a second mortgage on your house.
Pros: A very friendly and intuitive interface that will have you creating your own automations within a few minutes. The CRM functionality also adds a lot of value for you money.
Cons: I really don't have anything bad to say, it's a great product.

I was using InfusionSoft and found it to be VERY expensive and quite difficult to manage. ActiveCampaign has delivered nearly the same results I was looking for at a fraction of the price. I have managed to automate most of my marketing tasks that were edging into my sales and production time. In a nutshell, ActiveCampaign does what it says it will do, is easy to use and much less expensive than InfusionSoft!

The features rival those of high end automation suites (which cost in the $1,000's), with tracking and tons of automation options, at an extremely competitive price. It seems like they pretty much copied MailChimp's pricing (which is low), and undercut it by $5-10. The only con is the documentation isn't always so clear for every feature, and they're constantly updating (which is good), so the documentation is sometimes outdated. That said, they have chat support that I've been able to get a hold of within 5 mins all three times I contacted them who are extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

Lists are definitely more of a legacy item and tags are quickly growing to eventually replace them in most aspects. Things like the confirmation pages/forms/etc.. will all be updated to support that type of thinking in the future.
I've been using this email program for over 5 years now. We've done research on other products but have found ActiveCampaign Email Marketing to be the most reliable and mature application out there.
Great features and speed. Exceeds many of the features of the large ESP that i work for. Bought this software for a personal project and haven’t looked back. As long as you setup all they domain keys, sender feedback loops etc that are required by the ISPs to achieve good deliverability, you’ll save a fortune over Mailchimp or the likes in the long run. Plus i’ve found there’s many benefits to hosting your own email system, loads of opportunity to customise and give that ‘big business’ experience with your email marketing and transactional messaging. Would deffinately recommend.
Over the past 5 years I've been actively involved in email marketing for several leading brands, and in that time I have used many of the leading email marketing applications, from hosted solutions such as iContact, to enterprise solutions that cost $10,000s like Lyris ListManager, and php scripts such as SendStudio. However, I had never used ActiveCampaign Email Marketing. Choosing a solution for a new company, I needed an email application that gave me the tools i needed on a tight budget. I needed quality reporting, and a robust interface that would be quick to get up and running - after all I want to focus on marketing not the application. I also wanted to sync my mailing list to an existing CRM database - I don't have time to manually synch up data through CSV files, or work with API's as is required with most other apps of this price range.
