Google Analytics for Rich Web Insights

Reviewed 3 years ago

Our advertising agency does custom website builds for our clients so it's imperative that we accurately track acquisitions, referrals and user interactions on a daily basis to improve our advertising campaigns. We analyze time on site, page views, sessions, and bounce rate and the analytics help us improve our overall website UX and UI. The rich analytics provided from Google (especially integrations with Google Tag Manager) enable us to make intelligent improvements to the website to increase conversions.

Pros

Google Analytics is one of the most powerful tools available and it's free. It's very simple to deploy as long as you have backend access to a website. I use Google Analytics on a daily basis to track website analytics, behavior flow, conversion, and goal tracking, and build custom marketing funnels. Google Data Studio is an excellent way to directly pull data from the tool and make a completely customized dashboard with the top metrics that you analyze on a consistent daily basis. The user management and ability to set permissions adds an extra layer of security and the integration with Google Ads and YouTube properties is seamless and makes real-time reporting very dynamic. What we can measure, we can ultimately improve.

Cons

Google Analytics sometimes reports Facebook analytics differently from the backend of Facebook Ads Manager. However, Google is getting a lot better with tracking user performance, not just cookies (especially for cross-device interactions). The courses for the Google Analytics certification and somewhat bulky - I wish there was a better way to track your coursework and more online video tutorial similar to how Facebook Blueprint has organized their free online courses. Google Analytics can seem very daunting to beginners but there are a lot of great resources available from Google for education and tutorials.

Google Analytics 360: A great software for complete comprehensive web traffic monitoring and report

Reviewed 5 months ago

Fast overwhelming response times in the views, as well as the flexibility to examine your site in real-time, have aided me in a variety of ways, from monitoring deploys on our site to unexpected changes in user behaviour owing to changes in our buying funnel.

Pros

There are several customization possibilities for creating reports and segments. Essentially, it has the capacity to follow the whole behavioural analytics of Google users. Secondly, the free version punches home enough energy to support most small and medium scale entreprises that cannot afford the premium version.

Cons

Pageviews and sessions are two examples of baseline metrics that are challenging to comprehend that demand a lot of technical know-how. Secondly, getting the 360 version is quite expensive for both small-scale and medium companies and organizations.

I have been using Google Analytics for over three years. I will recommend it to all.

Pros

It's free: Google Analytics is a free tool that provides a wealth of information about your website's traffic and performance.Easy to use: The interface is user-friendly and easy to navigate, making it suitable for users of all skill levels.Customization: Google Analytics allows you to create custom reports and dashboards to suit your specific needs and goals.Integration: Google Analytics can be easily integrated with other Google products, such as AdWords, as well as third-party tools and platforms.Data accuracy: Google Analytics is known for its reliable and accurate data, making it a trusted source for website performance information.

Cons

Data privacy: Some users may be concerned about the data that Google Analytics collects and how it is used.Complexity: There is a learning curve associated with using Google Analytics, and it can be overwhelming for users who are new to web analytics.Limited support: While there is a wealth of online resources available for Google Analytics users, the platform does not offer much in the way of personal support.Limited functionality: Google Analytics has a range of features, but it may not have all the advanced functionality that some users require.Dependence on cookies: Google Analytics relies on cookies to track website visitors, which means it may not accurately track users who have disabled cookies in their web browsers.

Honestly not sure if this software does what it promises

Reviewed 2 years ago

I've used Google Analytics for a couple of businesses over the years, but this review is focused on my current experience using the software. As I mentioned in the "cons" section, I haven't had the most helpful experience with Google Alerts, either with my current business or previous businesses. The notifications tend to be sporadic, and focus solely on articles about people with the same/similar name as me, despite setting up a variety of keywords and being pretty present on the web. I'm sure this software is great if you have a much larger online presence/professional organizations talking about you, but I'm more focused on seeing what individuals (on social media, their own blogs, etc.) have to say about our Society.

Pros

It's incredibly easy to set up your filters, and you can determine how often you receive notifications from them as well - daily, weekly, every single time one of your specified fields is mentioned and Google Analytics picks up on it. I also appreciate that it's completely free, as is most Google software meant for small businesses/individual users.

Cons

I'm honestly not sure how effective this software actually is. I've specified several fields including my name, my co-author's name, the name of our book series, the historical society, etc. and not once have I received an alert from Google that's actually relevant to my business. We're not exactly a household name, but we're prevalent enough on the web that some mention of our business should have appeared by now. The notifications also seem incredibly sporadic as well. I've set it up to be a weekly notification, but I sometimes go a month or more without a notification from Google Alerts, and when I do, it's someone/something completely unrelated.

Your only go to analytics tool (FREE). For paid, find your use case.

Reviewed a year ago

Our overall experience with Google Analytics is slightly above satisfactory. It has helped us initially to track user data both in terms of analysis and reporting. Basis which we have been able to optimise our performance marketing leading to lower customer acquisition cost, improve our funnels leading to improved conversion and further improving margins, device expansion and off brand marketing strategy basis it's demographic data reports.

Pros

Impactful features: - GA has a freemium pricing model wherein you get a lot of functionalities in the FREE version which is majority of smaller organisation or start ups, more than sufficient. It's a go to tool for all the new products and mostly the first analytics tool to be integrated in their product. - Wide array of system reports: GA makes it easy for its user to track and analyse their users...

Cons

Features to improve: - First and foremost is speed of data extraction which needs to be improved a lot. GA takes a lot of time to pull out data, even on system reports. Now this becomes really critical when we are analysing a data set or trying to troubleshoot a problem. This breaks the momentum and sometimes is frustrating. - Custom reports to be made easy: In custom reports we have to first create...

The Non-Negotiable Software For Website/Business Owners

Reviewed 3 years ago

With Google Analytics, I have a comprehensive understanding of when people are visiting my website, what actions they are taking when they get there, and how it affects my bottom line. I know what marketing channels are most effective for me (organic vs. paid) and am able to make data driven decisions based on information that I know is accurate. Syncing this data with other products such as Google Data Studio also makes it easy to put together presentations for team meetings and executive retreats.

Pros

Google Analytics gives you everything you need to succeed in your online business, offering comprehensive data to help you understand how users interact with your website. From real-time reporting to custom data sets based on your desired conversions and events, everything is trackable within Google Analytics. To get the most out of the application, I would also recommend getting yourself Analytics certified, using Google's intuitive LMS software.

Cons

There's very little to complain about when it comes to using Google Analytics. If you aren't familiar with the system, it may take you a while to figure where to find the data that you're looking for, but with a little time (and going through the certification process) you can easily transform the way you use data to make decisions for your business.

Excellent, but it has its caveats.

Reviewed 3 years ago

Overall, I would rate my experience with Google Analytics 9/10. I believe it is an outstanding platform for a free application. If it wasn't for the amount limitations I've experienced with simple things within the platform, I would have rated this 10/10.

Pros

The thing I find most appealing about Google Analytics is its ease of implementation as well as its ease of use. While taking a course prior to using Google Analytics isn't entirely necessary, I highly recommend prior to implementing and utilizing Google analytics that you take a course online to understand the ins and outs of the platform. There is a ton of free information out there on Google Analytics that can really help new users quickly learn the platform. The more you familiarize yourself with Google Analytics, the better you will become at leveraging the platform for your particular business needs. This platform overall is great because it's free and can provide a very solid foundation for your business analytics.

Cons

It took me a while into using the platform to figure out what can be improved for Google Analytics. While it is an excellent platform to use for your business traffic analytics, I would advise people to be aware that it does come with its limitations. For example, you're limited to the amount of widgets (graphs, charts, etc.) you can include on one dashboard. For some users, this may not be a big deal,...

A Staple For Anyone Doing Any Marketing

Reviewed 2 years ago

Overall, I tell everyone with a website that they need Google Analytics. For every flaw, it has a dozen or more powerful features that make it worth using. There are easy ways to integrate with nearly any website platform, being even easier on platforms made for those who are less tech-savvy.

Pros

Google Analytics can be deep. Very deep. You can get user-by-user breakdowns of every interaction with your site, including the start and stop times of each visit, each interaction with each page, and on what device they visited each time. They never share user data, but you get everything you need to improve your marketing efforts. When compared to Google Ads, the retargeting options are beyond powerful, with nearly any customization you could possibly hope for or imagine. A couple of must-try reports include the top conversion paths report and the goal visualization paths (some assembly required).

Cons

There are still some elements of Google Analytics that are a bit frustrating. Google is getting a bit more privacy-conscious, which is good, but they seem to lump way too much data into broad and vague source categories such as "(direct) / (none)" and "Unknown". The metrics for time on page and session duration are usually wrong, as they have no way of tracking this without a user interacting beyond the first page. Small prices to pay for the other features and the available data. However, the smaller the traffic flow to your site, the less Google Analytics will help you. Consider running it in tandem with Google Ads or another paid traffic source to get some additional traffic flow.

Best up to date transparent metric tool..

Reviewed 2 years ago

My overall conclusion is, Google Analytics is a great tool. I recommend without any doubt and I can say, your satisfaction will be guaranteed! IT saves your time, makes your work easy and it's very easy to use. I personally found out it's amazing. If you're using Adobe Analytics or something else I invite you to give it a try and you won't be disappointed.

Pros

As a freelancer one of my main activity is web traffic providing. With many years of experience in this field I know how important is to have a good metric tool to monitor the traffic and it's behavior. In that point the google analytics comes handy. It helps to track the visit of the customer until the last point, the time spent in the site/app which helps to improve the functionality. It's up to date, transparent and easy to use. When it comes to SEO it plays a nice roll to fulfill my customers' requirements. With the bounce rate of the visits it provides, ensure the my customers the quality of traffic I provide. That's why I always recommend my customers Google Analytics together with the tracking link. It has a nice dashboard that impress me.

Cons

To be honest there're some suggestions I would like to highlight. 1 - It need some direct support other than too much automated which will be very useful for a new user. (Previously I had to involve in some complains of my costumers regarding setting it up) 2 - It'll be awesome if google can provide the possibility to track the direct sales as well. 3 - In my point of view, the most common method of trouble shooting is (specially when you're new) to go and watch a video tutorial. There're lot of features in Google Analytics which will be very useful such demonstrations to understand how they work and what they do as well as to fix the problems you find.

Gold Standard

Reviewed 4 years ago

Without Google Analytics, we would have no idea what is going on with our site. We would not understand what browsers are being used, what percentage visit with mobile devices, where visitors are coming from, etc. GA allows us to make data-informed decisions--not guesses--about where improvements need to be made. With each iteration of our site, GA guides menu creation, page layouts, site structure, etc. We are continually tweaking our websites based on the data provided by GA.

Pros

Without question, Google Analytics (GA) is the gold standard of website analytics suites, especially since you get so much for no cost. I love that you can track multiple properties from one login, tracking conversions, behavior, visitor origin, exit point, how long they stay on your site, etc. For most people, GA is all you need to understand what is happening on your site, how well your SEO is working,...

Cons

Data visualization on anything other that the GA site requires a separate service. GA is very complex and with Google making frequent changes to the product, it's easy to get behind with understanding where things are located and how it works. Google also seems to have eliminated one of my favorite features, the heat map, which showed where visitors were going on a page in real time.

Cons

I have noticed that when it processes a large amount of data, its performance can be affected, being more precise slows down, so obtaining the analyzes can take longer than expected, but it is a matter of being patient, especially if you are in the presence of a large company. Very useful but difficult to learn

Reviewed 2 years ago

I have a love/hate relationship with Google Analytics. It’s definitely useful and has helped us make improvements on our sites and learn more about our customers behaviors. But it’s also frustrating because we doing have enough time to use it as well as we could be. I got through a couple of sections in the course and never found the time to go back and finish setting it up properly.

Pros

Google Analytics is one of the best tools to help with SEO - it collects data about users on your website so that you can analyze it and determine the best ways to target your visitors. This is pretty crucial for anyone trying to get their site ranked on Google, and also helps with a lot of other things. The data gathered will tell you a lot about your site visitors such as their age, where they live,...

Cons

It so very time-consuming to learn how to use. Google offers a free course with multiple sections and videos to show you how to set your account up, explain the various features, etc. It’s pretty daunting to me, mainly because I’m a website designer and it’s hard to find adequate time to devote to learning all the Ins and outs of it, and to properly monitor the data it provides on a regular basis. To get the most out of Analytics, a company would pretty much need to have a full-time employee that just does this and nothing else.

Detailed Analysis

Reviewed 2 years ago

I had an amazing experience where I got introduced to a new world of data collection. I came to know why many websites ask location details or mail ID (to detect age and gender - which I understood after using Google Analytics). I would recommend this software/service to any beginner in website building.

Pros

I am a blogger from the past 5 months, managing my blog and checking to see the traffic to my webpage has never been easier. So I checked about that and found out that 'Google Analytics' software/platform is providing detailed analysis of the place where my visitors are from, their age, their gender, the amount of time spent by them on specific pages and even number of people who viewed my profile...

Cons

The only point I would like to mention is that to understand and not down the data, one should have a basic knowledge about the 'Marketing Funnel'. One should know how the data is collected and to add items in website like - sign in options, location detection option, cookie acceptance policy pop-ups and much more. To understand these basic points, we need to have a basic knowledge about websites, coding and other factors available in our blogging platform. Improvements are based on intuition for beginners rather applicative knowledge from the data obtained from Google Analytics. These points I like the least about this software, as a beginner.

You can view customer engagement per page/link/tile clicks etc and it also helps look into which marketing forms lead to the most customer engagement. Overall, this tool is 10/10 in my book and vital to any ecommerce based business.

Pros

It's difficult to pick just one feature that I like the most about GA because it's such a useful platform, but I like most of all how much you can drill down your site data. If I want to look at customer engagement/clicks/site behaviour etc. from a very broad standpoint or a very specific link/tile/timeframe, the power is all yours and really helps pin point certain scenarios & reactions on the site and help understand why something (or why not) received a lot of customer engagement.

Cons

If you aren't familiar with GA it can be very overwhelming at first to figure out how to navigate all of the different dashboards and functionalities. I really recommend watching tutorials and partnering with co-workers who know what they're doing if you're a new user.

A great place to start if you are launching a new website

Reviewed 10 months ago

If you have any sort of marketing team for your company, I highly recommend starting with and using Google Analytics. It's a great place to keep track of potential leads for your company and learning about the inside of the user's mind... you can really get into specifics to narrow in on audiences and appeal to the type of people you are attracting to your website. With the information you gather, you can cater to the needs of who is visiting your site, which in turn, excels and expands your marketing efforts.

Pros

I love how easily I can access the data I am looking for. On an average week, I monitor who is visiting my website, where they go to on my site, where they drop off, and most importantly, keep track of how they are finding us. I also like the customer service aspect - if I have an issue, I can access the chat function (something I actively look for when utilizing a product or service) and if we cannot find the problem today, scheduling a meeting with an Analytics pro is easy and free.

Cons

We have run into many bugs and spiders from across the world. Sometimes our data was skewed because what should have been us monitoring users from the United States becomes sorting through which data is accurate from the US vs. spammers from other countries. I also had a problem with bounce rate for weeks in 2021. I couldn't get a good read of bounce rate because it was constantly 0 for week and weeks. I would have to contact customer support and sometimes the representatives don't know how to fix the issue - which is an issue in itself. (Though it was ultimately fixed). It is discouraging when a customer support representative can't figure out the issue with a product, service, or software they represent and lowers credibility.

If You Own a Website or Blog, You Need Google Analytics. Period!

Reviewed 2 years ago

My experience with Google Analytics has been pretty great, although I still make use of other analytics tools.

Pros

With Google being the largest and most used search engine in the world, there's no doubt that the insights and the volume of data that you have access to with Google Analytics are unrivaled. Setting up Google Analytics is pretty straightforward although you need basic knowledge in Information technology and need to be web and internet savvy to make sense of some of the technical aspects of Google...

Cons

Some features of Google Analytics are a bit too technical for people who are not so web-savvy. If you are a beginner, you may find some of the features of Google Analytics a bit overwhelming and too complicated for your understanding. Integrating Google Analytics with other tools in the Google Marketing Platform suite of apps isn't all that simple too for someone with no technical knowledge.

The best free website analytics tool I've used

Reviewed 2 years ago

I'm using this software for a long time for my client's websites, even myself. It makes my work process much easier and faster. Google Analytics helps me to get a perfect analytics of a website, I just love this tool.

Pros

I can check my website analytics perfectly. Website verification on Google Analytics is super easy even it allow me to verify Google Search Console just in one click. It is important to me to track my visitor's location, country, season duration, real time active users, means a proper analytics of my website. And I got all these things on Google Analytics, even more than it.

Cons

I can verify my Google Search Console with verified Google Analytics account. But I can't verify Google Analytics account through verified search console account. As well as I often get a blank page report on analytics page. Inside, "What pages do your users visit?" tab my website pages shows up, but at the top, there is a blank page without any meta info. It does not make any sense, I think this software need to fix some bugs like that.
