It seems they are working business hours of 9-5pm on Queensland time, which does not suit Australian hospitality where the time zones are different for at least 6 months of the year; and businesses are open 6am until 9pm.

I was told my retail manager that there was no way to program a discount in dollars, only in percentage. Can't believe its true, but she swears she searched the system and couldn't find it. So if it's available, it must be hidden. Also, we use computer tablets and the maximum size of the number keys was too small, especially for men with big fingers.

Recommendations to others considering Epos Now
Make sure you do your research! One of the most important things to look for is if the POS software is setup locally, all cloud based, or a hybrid setup. Another important factor is the hardware - most POS systems now are iPad/tablet based, however there are still many terminal based systems. If you're a small, low volume business than a tablet system makes sense. However, we are a fast paced food/retail business with hundreds of small transactions per day, thus the terminals make most sense.
When we do a transaction the till rounds up the product total (where $2.00 + $2.00= $4.01 as an exact example) so that the amount charged to the customer is wrong more than 80% of the time.
Pros
Pulling reports for anytime it is also very easy.
Cons
The rounding errror is inexcusable. The data base feature is not user friendly at all.

Getting a new till system installed is simple abd a good experience when setting up a new part of the business.

I'm told that they let our representative go. If this is the case, their service may be better. When we received the system, we never opened the boxes. All we did was watch the video tutorials. Our service rep was terrible and missed all of our setup meetings. This pushed us back over 30 days which led into a major event that we were having and could not setup the system during this event. Following the event, we ended up changing our minds and wanted to return the unused unopened system. They would not allow us to, because its in their contract that their are no returns. Make sure you do your research before purchasing any POS. We learned our lesson and are now stuck with this system.

I own a C-Store and all the promos and charge accts are easily accessed and reported on.

I've given up contacting customer support, you get nowhere with a serious issue.

As a retailer there is not a lot to like about this software.

Features are aimed at the hospitality industry, not suitable for retail. The database is clumsy, you can only search for products on the till if they are listed as for sale on the till.

When your livelihood depends on being able to make sells, update products, add products, create applicable categories, track sales, itemize most often sold products, track profit/loss margins, and etc., it is a necessity to have a company that will grow with you and teaches you how to continually grow.

Another feature that I love is the tracking and reports.

I wish the measurement was in standard measurements instead of metric. For example, we sell nails and screws by the pound, but in the system we don't have the option to choose pound, but it isn't the end of the world instead we set it up as l (liter) but when you establish the cost it doesn't matter if it is showing as l or lb because you set it up as cost per 1 unit-whatever unit you choose to use. This is the same issue with measurement instead of foot, there is a meter, but it is still manageable without the standard measurement. The only option currently with Epos Now is metric, but it is my understanding that standard measurement is coming soon.

I was simply looking for a POS system to replace a very outdated one. This worked.

It has a mobile app. It was easy to sign up for and use.
Cons
It tends to be a little glitchy still, and I haven't used much of their hardware. THe mobile app gave me a lot of trouble for the trial before purchasing, so if you wanted to try before buying, that might be an issue.

Think of all of your possible requirements and rank the features you would like to see, in advance of seeing a sales presentation. On your initial call you will be able to understand if a system fits your requirements immediately, rather than being walked through a presentation and having to go back and ask questions later.

Qualify your purchase. This system does not have everything, even though it does have a lot. If you have something you aren't certain about that is a deal breaker, ask! I had so many questions and the sales rep was so helpful in letting me know what it could and could not do!
I use Epos Now for my POS, employee clock in/out and inventory management (small portion).

This software did not over burden me with things I did not need. Customization made it a good fit for my business, plus its very easy to use.

A few of the functions are not so easy to find, but customer support was able to help.
