overall when our production schedule and assignments are rapidly changing humanity is too cumbersome and staff circumvent it as it is mainly used for payroll and the bulk of my employees are salary. when we review payroll data to determine project costs a salaried employee could've had billable hours at multiple sites but due to it needing two upper managers to coordinate a staff member changing sites it's not worth the overhead or time and we get inaccurate job cost data asa result.
easy to learn and use provides different visual aids for different scheduling purposes
lacks the billable vs non billable component that is key for construction cost control

Overall, Humanity is an effective way to organize employee scheduling. It is extremely easy to pick up and use, and it allows employees to have a greater freedom over their shifts through the ability to trade. Although this process is complicated at first, it definitely gets easier as you use it. The reminders are useful, and help with timeliness for shifts.
My favorite thing about Humanity is that it is incredibly easy to view and handle shifts without actually having to talk to a boss in-person. This streamlines this process, saving time for both supervisors and employees. Additionally, it has a simple and intuitive user interface and I was able to pick up most of the features without any in-depth training within several weeks. I also like that it automatically reminds you that you have a shift coming up a day before and an hour before the shift starts, thus making sure that employees are less likely to miss or be late to shifts.
The process of trading shifts is difficult, and especially difficult on the mobile app. Additionally, configuring availability hours takes a long time, however this only needs to be done once, unless availability changes regularly. The mobile app is also hard to navigate, as some of the icons can get confusing, however you won't need to do much more than clock in and out using the app - the rest can be done easily on a computer.
Hi, Roy, We're glad Humanity has been so useful to your team. We're always striving to upgrade both desktop and mobile app user experience, so thank you for acknowledging our efforts and providing suggestions for improvement. If you have any specific proposals, you can send them to reviews@humanity.com, and for any difficulties you might experience, please feel free to reach out to our Support Team via Live Chat.

As a Contact Centre, the allocation of the correctly skilled staff to the times of day and days of the week is critical to meeting our customers' KPI, service levels, customer service standards, financial and HR considerations, and overall staff morale. Humanity helps us achieve these - quickly, and consistently.
As a WFM tool, Humanity is excellent. The overall functionality and features, ease of use, ease of implementation and acceptance, excellent customer support, cost, adaptability, and "bang for bucks" is exceptional. Outweighs and out performs anything in its class, and gives the much more expensive competitors a serious challenge.
Scheduling of breaks can be a bit tiresome and fiddly. Thankfully Humanity have taken on board our (and I am sure other's) feedback and are moving to make this a better experience.

We have been using Humanity to run the work assignments for a video production business for two years. In that time the service uptime has been flawless. I have never had a time where the service did not perform or was down. Phone support is the best that I have every encountered. Not only are calls answered quickly but the techs have deep knowledge and have been able to resolve issues in a matter...
Robust features closely match my needs for a comprehensive, one-stop service.
Work units report doesn't allow the shift title, notes, or remote site. I have to manually merge WU and custom reports (shifts scheduled) for each employee, which is very time-consumming. If I can add a second complaint, I really need to be able to avoid having the system label my contractors as employees.

Overall Humanity offers the best "bang for your buck". I've researched all the competition and they far exceed others in the market. There is still room for improved and enhanced functionality, I have hope they will dominate in the next few years.
Ease of use and functionality. The staff is pretty responsive and there are a good amount of online resources. The app works flawlessly and the desktop version is very intuitive and user friendly. Complete control for updating user preferences and passwords is a great feature!
There is still room for improvement. For example, employee time cards are difficult to use - it would be great if there were a multi step process where employees and supervisors can approve timesheets. Similarly, the vacation time tracking is a nightmare.

When my staff or I am tired, we confuse this week with next week because the yellow color marking today's date is too weak a yellow color. Today's date needs to be a stronger yellow color so we notice it. I took a master's course in human factors in design from a current NTSB investigator. The course stressed that schedules, etc must take human factors into consideration. However, otherwise, Shiftplanning is a great tool. Just please stop your employees with egos from constantly changing Shiftplanning to look more "elegant." That is stupid management at the top. Confusing icons without visible descriptions have been added as well compared to the original version.
1) Power to add future schedules by using current ones. 2) Photo check in and photo check out feature. 3) Automatic emailing and messaging to employees of next shift. 4) Calculating out wages.
1) Too weak yellow color highlighting today's date in Shiftplanning window. 2) Increasingly confusing unmarked and nearly hidden icons and features icons placed all over the screen. Stop with all this increasing "elegance" to make it look more elegant. Makes it harder and harder to use. 3) High cost for a small business. 4) The Humanity phone app does more harm than good as it is designed now. Doesn't work. makes you waste valuable time, frustrating, buttons don't work, etc.

I work with Humanity (mwahahah!) to schedule 50-60 students at our two helpdesk locations. Our schedule matches our academic classes so our shifts often start at 5 and 10 minutes after the hour. Currently you can only schedule in 15-minute increments which means approving timesheets is a NIGHTMARE! Generally Humanity lets us do what we absolutely need to do - it is pretty intuitive for our techs,...
It is online, location restrictable, works well across multiple disparate sites, allows tasks to be assigned to shifts, and allows techs to take ownership of their shift management.
OH MY GOSH PLEASE GIVE US SMALLER TIME INCREMENTS FOR SCHEDULING FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS GOOD IN THE WORLD!!! (Seriously fixing this one problem would solve about forty bajillion other problems I'm dealing with in Humanity at the moment)

Overall I would recommend this software for a small to a mid size organization. It is functional, however there are much better products available....for a price.
Humanity is a good tool for scheduling and managing human capital. One of the best features is the ability to look at all of an employees data in one place.
some of the reporting functions are complicated and the filters do not always allow you to view exactly what you are trying to.
Hi, Thank you for your review, we appreciate you taking the time to flag out the difficulties you've had. Please feel free to explore the Reports Overview on our Helpdesk page (https://helpdesk.humanity.com/articles/knowledge/Reports-Overview); for additional questions, you can always contact us via 24/7 Live Chat on our homepage or app dashboard. Humanity has saved me so much time. I don't know what I would do without it. The Amion program is being pushed by my company's upper administration because it is cheaper. So, I hope I'm not forced to leave you guys because of money. I am trying to show them how easy your application is to use. I am hoping once they see that, others in the company will want to use Humanity for scheduling their providers and drop Amion. However, that's iffy. Do you guys have a corporate discount that would be a flat fee instead of a fee based on number of employees? Novant Health is the 31st largest healthcare system in America. If I could get them to use Humanity instead of Amion for scheduling all of the healthcare providers who do shift work, it would be a sizable amount.

Generally good. But lacking is some usability features, such as lack of formatting options for printing a daily schedule in the time frame that we are open.
Schedule management is the highlight feature for this product.
We were informed this week that our monthly cost was doubling due to a minimum monthly charge. We are a small business and every dollar counts. Will now be looking for another solution.

The interface for this software is great. It's extremely easy to use. They can confirm staff identities using facial and fingerprint recognition. They have rule based scheduling and unlimited locations. The software is extremely easy to use and very robust.
This is a great software but it does come at a cost. They are one of the more expensive platforms in the market.

I researched several options and ShiftPlanning offered everything on my wish list for a price within my budget. All the pre-sale promises proved to be true once I began using ShiftPlanning. I reduced time spent scheduling by 75%. The employees praised the introduction of ShiftPlanning.
The online chat support is quick to respond and is backed up with online documentation and videos. The software is very intuitive and the support team was very helpful in getting me up and running. After that I needed minimual support. My second favorite feature is the "Availablity" function. Staff can block out either a recurring day of the week, time of day or a specific date. This eliminated scheduling errors for everyone.
The product is designed for online use by the Scheduler and employees. I also like to post a printed copy of the schedule. The filter function allows significant flexibility when printing but I'd like to see more control over the page breaks when printing the schedule.

We started using ShiftPlanning in 2014 and love it. As a community pool, we have limited funds, so we had been managing schedules with pen and paper. Until now. One of the board members found ShiftPlanning and it has exceeded our expectation on many levels. easy to use; lower cost; fantastic customer support; great value; robust; flexible
Can't think of a con. Only comment is that ShiftPlanning was difficult to find - we had to delve deep into Google search to find this app. Glad we persevered.

If you have multiple locations, with multiple shifts, and multiple workers with specific skill sets. if you need to know who can work a specific location and who can't. If you need to know the availability of your resources. If you want your workers to be able to clock in using their phone, or be sure they are clocking in from a specific geographical location. If you want employees to be able to offer up their shifts to only equally qualified employees. I could go on, but you get the point. THIS is the application.
Price Flexibility Options
Complex. Took me three tries to get it implemented they way I needed, but my use case may be unusual.

Saved us so many scheduling headaches. We were able to switch from an excel sheet to a program that will almost run itself (if only employees didn't get sick or have something come up last minute). We would not be able to schedule the 150+ shifts per week without humanity!
Easy to add multiple positions for each employee. Easy get setup and go. Easy to schedule for multiple weeks. Good value for features offered.
Your employees can't see the total time they've worked in the app. They can see each timesheet but they have to log into the computer to see the total hours. Some of the more advanced features are frustrating to figure out at first. Humanity doesn't subtract leave automatically

We used Shiftplanning for a little over a year, and we found the system to be somewhat counter-intuitive when constructing schedules. It took us over 2 days of concentrated efforts to set up our scheduling system in a way that worked for us (compared to the 20 minutes it took us to do the same through WheniWork). The most frustrating thing was the reports: if you wanted a simple summary of employees...
Pricing is pretty good. But when compared to other services, you're getting what you pay for.
User interface is more complicated than it needs to be, and when setting up a complicated shift schedule for multiple locations and positions at those locations, it took a lot of work to organize it in a way that worked how we wanted it to. Buggy apps / iPad terminals Frustrating reports. Difficult to print.

A lovely service that is equipped with strong features and an easy to use interface. My TV/Film Production company has been using Shiftplanning for 2+ years and being able to not only have time-track hours, but also schedule shifts, have pay-rates increase or decrease based on either location and or time of the day, ability to keep overtime in check, and integrate our favorite calender for event scheduling is a huge benefit for our company. I used a few applications before, but compared to Shiftplanning, they seem like beta software limited by under developed features and poor support. We will continue to use Shiftplanning for many years as long as they continue to develop their already fantastic service, support, maintain competitive pricing.
Great Support Loaded with Features Integrates Great iPhone / Android App Affordable Price
Not a Con, but certainly would be a great additional feature: Being able to assign tasks to individual employees and have hours tracked to those tasks. That would be awesome.

We use shiftplanning for scheduling purpose in our Call Center since more then 2 years and are not planning to change soon. It's not only a scheduling tool as you can also manage your payroll, training and your staff files through it. It's a complete system handle by a proactive and efficient team.
Easy to use, Customization, Customer service, Customer Support, Amazing Team, affordable cost, Webinars, Messaging system
No possibility to give a 5 minutes delay period before the clocking in is considered lates with the Timeclock tool would be my only complaint at this time.

We had been using this software for years. They decided to change everything about it, making it harder for all my employees. We have switched to a cheaper system that provides better support, more robust schedule building templates, and greater connectivity to employees. Thank you for ruining your software so I had a reason to find someone better.
They are great at taking your money.
scheduling is rigid and unable to accommodate atypical (non-weekly) schedules. User interfacing is lacking. Customer service is slow, and makes promises they are not authorized to keep.

We employee 50+ student employees who work while they attend classes full-time. Every employee has a different availability that often changes rapidly throughout each semester due to exams, presentations, events and recreation. Before we used Shiftplanning, trying to keep track of 50+ schedules manually with spreadsheets was an absolute nightmare that cost many professional hours and at times negatively affected business operations. With Shiftplanning, we eliminated much of that headache and it consistently helps us maximize employee hours. The savings we gain from proper schedule management not only pays for Shiftplanning but saves the business money year after year. I would recommend Shiftplanning to any sized business.
Automatically assigns shifts to employees based on their availability. Employees can put shifts up for trade and Shiftplanning emails eligible employees. Upload documents and quizzes for employee training. Easy to use. Saves time and money.

At this point I see no "pro's".
Humanity has lost all good will by tripling its pricing with 14 days notice! Common business practice, like with their AWS upgrade, would have been to make multiple attempts to notify its customer – including using its chatbot that pricing was going from $33/month to $100/month. This was not done. Sneaky to say the least…. We will be looking for a new service provider.

My company has been using this app for three years now - we reported repeatedly a few malfunctions and they never came back with anything more than "Thanks we will work on it" and the nothing happens. Problems range from sms not working to wrong break management. We keep using it just because it's not a mission critical app and it's cheap, but when we find some time we will look for a better one.
cheap, SaaS
