Pros and cons

We use for email marketing and its been great for that. Creating campaigns is straight forward with a great tool for designing a campaign within the software.
Customer service was superb. They were awesome and I found the editor of the email easier to use than the competitor.
The product has some really good features at a great price. We use chat functionality on our website and it is super easy to design campaigns on the platform.
Additionally, sendinblue does a horrible job documenting and announcing their own vetting process. I once purchased SIB Credit and had no feedback as to why it wasn't credited to my account.
Sendinblue is probably the worst company I have ever dealt with. Not only their support is close to inexistent for users with premium account, but they treat you like a criminal.
We'd gone to some trouble to transition our mailing list, learn the new interface, and get it linked to our website for subscriptions. We now feel that we were misled or tricked.

Michael: Hi, my name is Michael and I'm an owner. I'd like to give Sendinblue five out of five stars. If you'd like to read more reviews, click the button below. Before I used Sendinblue, I've used a software program called Constant Contact. Why that didn't work was I was looking for something a little bit more versatile, a little bit more user-friendly and I found that Sendinblue really provided me with so much better ease in the interface, in the platform, and flexibility. And also an important element that I found in Sendinblue was that I did not get as many bounces and spam and my emails sent to spam, so just a lot more efficient all the way around. I chose Sendinblue, First of all, because of the price. I thought for a service that they were providing, the monthly price was incredibly reasonable. I never felt limited with the amount of emails that I could send and the way that they actually coordinated emails, that I could put them in different categories, was a fantastic way for me to actually organize all of my people and to get some great analytics every time I sent an email. Sendinblue was a piece of cake to get started on. I could not believe how easy it was and I have to admit, I'm not that computer literate. So when I started using the program several years ago, it was like preschool as far as the instructions and how to actually implement all the things I wanted to do. Super easy to organize and super clear as far as how to use all the tools that they offer. I completely recommend Sendinblue and anybody that is just starting out in sending out emails to their audience, or if you actually have done it for a while and have accumulated enough people in your contacts, they offer some amazing, more advanced marketing and tracking tools that definitely will take your company forward. There's no doubt about that.

Perfect for Small-to-Midsize Newsletter distribution

Reviewed 4 years ago

Transcript

Phil C: Hi, I'm Phil and I am a journalism instructor. I worked for a large public school and I use Sendinblue and I would give it a five out of five stars. So we use a lot of different programs to try to communicate with our staff and families. The school uses Constant Contact, SchoolMessenger. And I looked at both of those but we had a problem when we wanted to start a journalism newsletter to get our student content and news content out to our staff and family. We needed to send to several thousand people and we were worried because when we wanted to try to send out a newsletter, if we use one of our current programs, if someone unsubscribed from our newsletter, they would unsubscribe from everything that the school sends out. So we needed something separate for us. So I looked at maybe getting a Constant Contact account or another different one, a different type of program. The main one we looked at was Constant Contact because our school already has a relationship with them and it's pretty easy to use. But the thing is you had to pay by contact and that wasn't really going to work for us because we were trying to keep our costs down. We know that we have a lot of contacts within our school but we wanted to try to figure out a way that we could send stuff out without having to pay per contact. Because when you add in contacts, you've got students, you've got their parents, maybe guardians and that gets to be a lot of email addresses. And we didn't really know how many people we were going to end up sending to all at once. So those were the two main choices, Constant Contact, SchoolMessenger. We chose Sendinblue because it gave us everything we needed to get started with a brand new newsletter. One, it allowed us to import a very large contact list without paying by contact. Two, it gave us a lot of different options for how many emails we needed to send out. And actually, we ended up upgrading the amount of emails that we send out because it was so successful and we still are paying less than we would with another per subscriber or per contact user list. We also picked Sendinblue because it was very intuitive in how to use, how to access, you don't have to download anything. You're able to create templates with a drag and drop format and it worked really well with the type of newsletter that we were wanting to send out. When we first got started with Sendinblue, I had never really worked with a newsletter software before. So I had been a user on our other school programs that we had used and they were very clunky, trying to get everything set up. But with Sendinblue, we started from scratch and it was super simple to create a contact list. Just to start it off, we wanted to use basically my team and my department to send our test emails out and that process worked fantastic. And then it's like all right, well let's do a big export of all of our staff members. And we uploaded that and it went in, it went in just perfectly smooth. The Excel file uploaded straight... You export it as comma-separated values, it uploads perfectly into Sendinblue. Then we did something for our students and their families or guardians, Sendinblue automatically detected duplicate contacts within that list. So we don't have to double send anything like that and everything uploaded just perfectly into this program. And it was able to sort through the contacts that were duplicates and make sure that we had that. We are able to keep our lists separated, so we can send to just staff members or just subscribers. And then the subscribers is another great feature. They have a nice little plugin that works perfectly with WordPress. So we were able to copy the HTML, put it on our journalism program's website and we are able to advertise that to all of the family members and even community members that just want to read our student content and then get their newsletter as well. So it's right there all in one spot for us and we don't have to worry about managing or manually inputting anything. Everything goes seamlessly right into the program. If you're trying to come up with a way to distribute your newsletter without having to manually import a bunch of contact files. Say you have a few thousand people you want to send it to but you don't really feel like paying by contact for it, I would recommend Sendinblue because it's worked really well for us. The things I really like about it are that you get a number of emails that you're going to send and you're talking thousands of emails. Right now, we ended up sending out to a distribution list of about 20,000 people right now and we don't have to pay per email address we have in. We're able to eliminate the people who aren't connected with us, who aren't reading our emails. So even though our contact list is much larger, in another program, we might have to be paying for all those people that just get our emails and automatically trash them. But with Sendinblue, we don't pay per subscriber or per user or per contact. We're paying per email that we send out and you've got a big bulk amount. We're sending to like I said, about 20,000 people twice a week and we're still spending about half as much as we would with a pay per subscriber, pay per contact service. So I think it's really great if you're just getting started with trying to send out a marketing campaign or a newsletter like we were because you aren't going to be spending a lot of money on contacts that aren't going to be reading your content. You're going to be able to directly target the people who want to read your stuff, who open it, who respond to it, who click on your links and you can do that all without spending a ton of money.

Easy to send mailings

Once you have connected and setup Brevo, it is very easy to keep your customers or relations informed with mailings. We use this on a weekly basis to send mailings, ask feedback and share updates. Statics are very useful!

Pros

It is very easy to send mailings to your contacts. With the amazing templates, you can get starte quickly. After sending it, statistics are great to see how your contacts interacted with your mailing, so you can repeat or improve.

Cons

Brevo has so many options, that it sometimes becomes confusing to find your way around. The menu structure is not always totally clear.

Easiest and best tool to use for beginners, agencies and personal brands.

Reviewed a month ago

Very good, its a fair pricing system. The Desktopapp is never down or lagging. Overall one software in our techstack we dont think of changing and actually dont compare. Brevo always brings out new stuff you need.

Pros

Ease of use of the product is the best. Brevo is the easiest to learn and use for non-technical people. Creating Campaigns through the multiple channels is great and the email campaigns templates are create. A lot of freedom to create and also with the Audience Creation super easy. We manage multiple clients and our own newsletter all in one brevo account.

Cons

The Automations / Workflows and native Integrations could be better. We mostly do everything with Zapier but it would be nice to have more direct integrations and use Brevo even easier with our techstack.

Email marketing has been key to sales growth where each campaign has been successful and well received by all clients. Its ease of use is what I liked most from the beginning because it was easy to learn all its functions correctly.

Mailing for memberships

Reviewed 3 months ago

Overall we have a fantastic experience with Brevo and will continue to use it for the foreseeable future.

Pros

The ease of use and setting up of the system. It works well with our membership database by being easily updatable via an excel export/import function. It is highly configurable for setting up lists and filters allow us to tailor make our content for our subscribers. The price is also good in comparison with other platforms.

Cons

If a contact changes their data within the brevo system we do not receive a report to show what has changed which would allow us to update our main database.

Brevo - Everything in one place.

Reviewed 7 months ago

It was much, much more affordable for our needs than other similar solutions we looked at. The Conversations Chat module allows us to add chat messaging from Facebook, Instagram, and Email. This allows all our staff to use one interface for all messaging and to spread out the workload to all staff.

Pros

We use Brevo for our email marketing and contact lists as well as the Conversation module that adds a Chat feature to our company website.

Cons

Regarding the Conversation module, I really want more high-level controls to monitor and manage our sales team who all use Brevo to digitally interact with our customer base.

Brevo: Is it worth the Investment or No

Reviewed a year ago

Well in summary, Brevo, formerly known as Sendinblue, presents a compelling solution for businesses that are in dire need of versatile marketing automation and an email marketing platform. I'm also one of the owners of a business in need of this service. With its user-friendly interface, robust automation capabilities, and competitive pricing, Brevo seamlessly caters to a broad spectrum of users. Despite the minor drawbacks that I mentioned earlier, Brevo's strengths make it a strong contender in the market, especially for organizations looking for an affordable and feature-rich marketing solution. If you ask me, Brevo is a well-rounded platform that maintains a balance between functionality and accessibility. This makes it a solid choice for businesses aiming to elevate their digital marketing efforts.

Pros

User-Friendly Interface: First of all, I love the simplicity of the design of the new user-friendly and intuitive Brevo interface; particularly the light-green feel of the Homepage and dashboard. Another striking thing there is their deliberate use of abundant white spaces; this does not only make the platform appear super-classy but it also makes it very easy for both beginners and experienced marketers alike to easily understand the system and make proper use of it. The drag-and-drop editor simplifies the process of creating engaging email campaigns without requiring extensive technical skills. Email Deliverability: One of Brevo's standout features is its robust email deliverability- anyone who uses the platform can attest to this. I've been using Brevo for over 3 years now (from when it was still known as Sendinblue). The platform employs advanced algorithms to optimize email delivery, minimizing the chances of messages ending up in spam folders (provided you use a custom email eg info@yourwebsitedotcom, and also verify you domain). This is crucial for ensuring that your messages reach the intended audience. Automation Capabilities: Brevo excels in automation, when it comes to automation, I give it to them. The system allows you to set up workflows for various scenarios. From welcome sequences to abandoned cart reminders, the automation features enable businesses to streamline their marketing processes and engage with customers at the right time. What's more interesting is the fact that even if you don't know how to use Brevo and need a little help, you can access training videos on Brevo's YouTube channel to help you get started. Affordability: The platform's pricing structure is competitive, especially for small to medium-sized businesses. Brevo also offers a free plan with basic features and affordable paid plans that scale with the user's needs even though that amount (Starter $25, Business $65, and BrevoPlus placed at custom price) is still a bit on the high side for some of us in Africa due to exchange, inflation and a whole lot of other pressing factors. This makes it an attractive option for budget-conscious organizations (especially those in the big 5). Comprehensive Marketing Suite: Brevo is not limited to just email marketing; it's a comprehensive marketing suite with an array of marketing tools. Users can leverage features such as: - SMS marketing - Chat - & CRM integration, creating a unified platform for managing various aspects of their marketing strategy. Analytics and Reporting: The platform also provides detailed analytics and reporting tools, offering insights into the performance of email campaigns. Users can track key metrics in real-time, such as open rates, click-through rates, and conversion rates, enabling data-driven decision-making.

Cons

Learning Curve for Advanced Features: It is true that Brevo is user-friendly, however, mastering its more advanced features may take some time (this is the reason I'll advise avy new user to get some help from their YouTube channel. Users looking to harness the full potential of the platform may need to invest additional effort in learning and experimentation. Limited Design Flexibility: Although the drag-and-drop editor is very convenient, some super-creative users might find the design flexibility limiting. Customizing templates beyond the provided options may require HTML/CSS knowledge, which could be a drawback for those without coding expertise. Contact Management Complexity: Managing contacts and segmentation could be more streamlined. Some users may find the contact management interface less intuitive compared to other platforms, especially when dealing with larger contact lists. Template Selection: While Brevo offers a variety of templates, the selection might not be as extensive as some other competitors. Users who are keen on getting some highly specialized or niche templates may find themselves needing to create custom designs; this is exactly what I do any time I want to create a campaign.

Great Email Marketing Tool

Reviewed a year ago

Brevo has been a great partner overall. It is hard to complain even about server outages or technical issues. Only limitations for already available features are concerning and the way Brevo pushes its CRM.

Pros

The way emails look, the full control over transactional and marketing email system links. Full localization possibility. Great support and documentation.

Cons

Services outages became frequent and emails cannot be tested or sent during that time. Brevo is pushing its CRM and close features that were available for free before. For people who are never going to swtich to their CRM such moves are clearly wrong. For example, the conversations feature is much more limited as of now and to reply to Whatsapp conversations, subscribers need to pay.

Sendinblue - The Best Features Pros and Cons

Reviewed 2 years ago

When it comes to pricing, Sendinblue has four plans available with a free plan that allows 300 emails a day. It is cost effective for small businesses as it comes in handy to users who're at the beginning of their email marketing journey who do not have a budget. Sendinblue has a very good CRM filtering and segmentation of contacts feature. It also provides social media marketing, SMS Marketing, landing pages creation, online surveys and many more tools for digital marketers. More advanced features are available in the premium and enterprise plans.

Pros

What I liked most about Sendinblue is its easy of use with a variety of customizable templates. I liked the fact that it is a cloud-based email marketing tool that offers a range of features and functionalities for both beginner and advanced users. It is also a marketing automation platform that provides the right marketing and sales tools you need to build strong relationships with your customers all in one place.

Cons

I found the onboarding process on this app to be difficult especially when it comes to data transfer. Steep learning curve on some of the features like configuring a dedicated IP or sending targeted emails. Also, if you want more features, they're are only available in the premium and enterprise plans where you have to pay for them.

A great service at a justified price.

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

Sendinblue is honestly the solution I've been looking for since the beginning when it comes to emailing and marketing automation. It gives you the ability to organize your contacts in a very granular way through their list and tag management. With their marketing automation system, you can send very specific emails to these users and add even more tags based on their actions (opened or read, for example), but I’m not done! You can even "hijack" their marketing automation system to not send emails at all, but instead automatically add tags to your users after a certain action (or inaction) on their part on your website, which could then add them to another marketing automation system... You get the idea, the possibilities are almost endless and if you are looking for the best system to track your contacts and talk to them in a very unique way, don’t look any further. Another very important point is that Sendinblue charges you on the number of emails you send per month, not the number of contacts you have (yes, I'm looking at you Mailchimp). This billing system makes more sense and the ROI is much easier to calculate. Finally, Sendinblue is growing more by the day, and propose now a CRM and a chatbot that I found very effective to convert my traffic on my landing pages.

Cons

Honestly, there's not much I don't like about their service. The chatbot is expected to become a paid option in the future, and that's a bummer. Their integrations with other services are also not as developed as it can be with other market leaders. Check on your end to see if Sendinblue is compatible with your other critical services, they still have plenty of integrations.

Free but limited

Reviewed 2 years ago

Sendinblue is free and effective. The ironic thing is that we grew so much from using sendinblue that we needed a bigger and better platform.

Pros

It's free until you go over a certain amount of emails per month and your contact storage is unlimited, no restrictions! Custom templates, automation/auto responders, custom CTAs, and click tracking are all pros. APIs for integration with your website. The reporting is pretty well detailed. Customer support is very responsive and polite. I was able to set up sendinblue very quickly and I had no problems using it.

Cons

Sendinblues free version is limited and when you go over the email limit you need to buy a subscription to keep using the service. The customizable templates are there but they're limited.. Sendinblue could be slow and glitchy at times, most often when sending emails with attachments.

A low-cost, comprehensive system for organizing your email marketing operations.

Reviewed 2 years ago

Sendinblue has given us the tools we need to manage and arrange our email marketing campaigns. We've reduced a lot of procedures and improved the effectiveness of our advertising efforts thanks to Sendinblue. We may repeat them again and over again within a particular time frame, all at a minimal cost.

Pros

Sendinblue is a low-cost tool for effective email marketing and campaign management. I enjoy how simple it is to create and organize contact lists, as well as divide them into sub-groups, which makes mailing fliers to them much easier. Sendinblue's ability to increase our contact lists without charging any more fees is something I like. I appreciate Sendinblue's ready-to-use concepts and templates, which make it simple to construct our campaign and add images and links. I enjoy the testing option since it allows us to analyze the ad campaign before sending it and make changes as needed. Add to that the option to upload materials such as presentations and PDFs as attachments. I particularly value the reports that Sendinblue provides, which allow us to see how many individuals have responded to our communications.

Cons

I found nothing to dislike about Sendinblue because it is really basic and straightforward to use. But I think it needs to be improved even more so that we can get more reports and analyses, which would help us improve the way we do email marketing.

You get what you pay for

Reviewed 2 years ago

Unfortunately, I left before I even sending out a single email to my subscribers.

Pros

As a small business owner, the thing that attracted me to Sendinblue was the pricing. At the time I was using this, my marketing emails were fairly low-tech and with a few trade-offs, I was excited that I could send to unlimited contacts using the free plan. It also offered some customizations with the free plan other services didn't, and I felt like the pricing for larger lists was extremely fair (as I was hoping to stay with them).

Cons

The backend was a bit clunky and felt fairly outdated, but I was willing to overlook that for the price. After setting up my lists, default settings, first email, etc. I got a notice that I would have to go through verification before sending my first email. The process was RIDICULOUS. I had to schedule a call with someone in France (which seemed odd, but okay). My call was rescheduled twice and then ultimately canceled. After a month of trying to verify, I ultimately switched providers. After having gone through all the setup work, I never even got to send out anything more than a test email to myself.

Vendor response

Hey there! My name is Nadja and I'm Sendinblue's Reputation Specialist. I'm very sorry you've had this experience with us, especially since it's our goal to support small business owners, helping them grow through marketing campaigns. Easy and powerful email solution for marketing and transactional emails

Reviewed 3 years ago

I've used and tried other email solutions and always thought that this one (maybe for having so many google ads and promises) it was not very good. But when I finally started to use it, I was very satisfied and regretted not having used it from the beginning.

Pros

It has a beautiful and intuitive control panel, it is very easy to start to use, the customer support is great (even for free accounts), you have powerful tracking features on the go and if you're a small business probably you won't pay for using it.

Cons

I've been using it for almost one year and I like everything. If there's something that could be improved I would say to have a better direct integration with wordpress.

A versatile tool for well-designed, mobile-friendly e-mail marketing

Reviewed 3 years ago
Pros

Sendinblue offers superior editing of the e-mail layout without involving a custom coded template. E-mails can have multiple columns with separate buttons for each column, background images for the entire e-mail or just a section of the message as well as the possibility to divide the e-mail into sections with different background colors. As a designer, this allowed me to create truly attractive and engaging e-mail campaigns for my company – and to make sure they were equally legible and compelling on mobile.

Cons

It would be useful to be able set different default font colors for different e-mail sections. If the default font color for the email is black and I want to use a dark background for a section of the e-mail, I keep having to change the text color for each text field in this section. It would be useful to be able to define text colors for light vs. dark background for the entire e-mail, so I don't have to do it for each individual text field. Dark mode-customization is currently missing. I would like to be able to check how our e-mails read when a user is browsing e-mails in dark-mode, and to make certain color changes to ensure legibility whenever dark mode is in use.

Amazing Value, Great Deliverability, Powerful Featureset, Some Learning Curve and Rough Edges

Reviewed 3 years ago
Pros

I love the value of this product. I can send more emails to way more contacts for less money. The automation features are powerful and flexible, including jumping from one automation to another or repeating part of a workflow based on action or inaction. I love it. Deliverability is the best I've seen and they make it easy to track issues with particular domains. Thank you! Analytics and reports are solid.

Cons

The onboarding was a mess with errors in their documentation: it took us three months or so, so plan for that. Their support was AWFUL then but has improved dramatically in the year since so I would not be surprised if onboarding has improved. Their SMS feature is not that useful: I can automate sending SMSs but if anyone replies, I can receive it but cannot reply to them individually. The SMSs come from a random number that is not consistent so recipients cannot effectively add you to their contacts or send a text to that number. Probably better to use a separate SMS service. Their advanced email personalization is difficult to set up. Basic stuff like first name is easy but populating event-based info like order details is hard.

A short discussion about Sendinblue

Reviewed 4 years ago

I use Sendinblue to send out transactional emails for the platforms I develop on. I stay away from the marketing feature.

Pros

In terms of getting started to get a mailing server, for free, I don't think you'll find better. Sendinblue is an effective option to automate your email setup, and it's hassle free. If you've worked with API before, this will be no problem at all. Even if you haven't they take care of you with starter templates.

Cons

The website is incredibly slow. You will sit there just waiting for the page to load, even if it's simple data. Additionally, sendinblue does a horrible job documenting and announcing their own vetting process. I once purchased SIB Credit and had no feedback as to why it wasn't credited to my account. All of the top support docs just told me to look into my account or buy credit. It turns out, you have to contact support to get your account activated. Additionally, there are a few API contact adding handlers that could work a little bit better, and handle errors better.

Excellent value for money for contact-intensive mailing list

Reviewed 4 years ago

We are using Sendinblue twofold - partly for periodic newsletters to both our business partners and clients, and partly for sending off direct mails for specific segments of our users. After getting the initial setup right, working with Sendinblue is a breeze. As mentioned, the segmenting options might be a bit lacking for our taste, but they are good enough to do the job. The pricing model is perfect for our use.

Pros

Sendinblue allows for unlimited contacts, in contrast to many other marketing software providers. This business model fits extremly well our extensive mailing list with heavy segmentation and comparatively low monthly sendout volume. The setup was quite easy and support rather excellent. Our initial problems were taken care of quickly and efficiently and support time was never unbearable. Setting up mails and templates is a pleasure and setting up new campaigns is fast and easy. The system is constantly being improved upon and it is a pleasant suprise to see kinks and bugs being ironed out.

Cons

Segmenting of the target group could be improved upon. The current model is quite simple and thus easy to use, but it might leave client with demand for heavy segmentation features looking for more. Geographical segmenting could be improved upon - there is currently no possibility to select a segment based on geolocation through map, circle radius etc.

Affordable + effective email marketing

Reviewed 4 years ago

We use Sendinblue to send promotional and education emails to our patient base. I am typically sending emails to specifically targetted lists. I have also dabbled in the Automation feature, and this has helped me to reduce my workload significantly.

Pros

Sendinblue is easy to use and is absolutely worth the value. It is easy to create beautiful campaigns, import contacts, and track results. I haven't explored many of the additional features, but for running basic email marketing campaigns, I cannot recommend Sendinblue enough.

Cons

I do wish there was better organization when it comes to the media library in particular. You cannot create folders for media, so it can easily become chaotic to try and locate media files.

Best value in the business

Reviewed 4 years ago

I've been doing email-centric marketing for years, and the game has changed over the last few years. If you're looking to move from an old-school platform like Mailchimp to a proper (email-centric, web-tracking) marketing automation platform, you're typically looking at expensive options (Marketo/Pardot/Hubspot/Eloqua). SendinBlue is more in line with a platform like Active Campaign, and while perhaps not as mature/feature-full, it is incredibly affordable for what it offers.

Pros

Fantastic contact management/filtering/segmentation Modern web-tracking/lead-scoring capabilities Modern marketing automation capabilities

Cons

A few non-core features are 'half-baked' (e.g chat widget doesn't have mobile apps for operators, who must rely on browser notifications; 'CRM' is really a bare-bones marketing-CRM, not a proper CRM that a sales team or larger organization could rely on). Email builder could be a little more flexible (forces you to choose between raw HTML mode and page-builder mode)
