The best.
There is nothing I don't love about this software. My first cloud-based firm management system went unsupported after a couple of years, and I could understand why. I stumbled on Smokeball (an excellent, perfectly persistent and not annoying sales rep), and I have never looked back. The AI for time and billing is exceptional; the choices made when partnering with services are well-considered and launched, and the customer service is fabulous. And they keep making integration and start-up even simpler.
There is genuinely nothing I don't like about the software. I suppose, in an ideal world, there would be a partnership with Westlaw, but that's not a criticism.

Our firm literally cannot work without Smokeball. I am not exaggerating one bit when I tell you that it is as essential to our practice as air. When the pandemic began, other lawyers were struggling to figure out how to work from home. Luckily for us, Smokeball is everywhere we are. With help from Smokeball's cloud-based system, we were able to transition to working from home very quickly and easily....
Email tracking, file notes/timeline. These features make it so much easier for two or more people to collaborate on a file!
I wish that "to-do" tasks in the system would auto-delete if a matter is canceled or closed.

Overall, the software is not "bad," but it leaves so much to be desired. This would not be a bad fit for a small, low-volume law firm that does not do a lot of marketing, outreach, or communication.
Smokeball has an excellent training team. The system itself has been a significant upgrade from the software we were using before.
Their reporting features are not the best. They also lack CRM functionality that many other providers are offering. Their closed API also makes it difficult to integrate with other software providers. They also do not provide a month-to-month billing option, so we were locked into a plan we did not want to be in when trying to leave.

I have enjoyed using smokeball and it has made real estate law a lot smoother.
I like being able to access all my files on one platform that can be shared with my team
The integration without look sometimes freezes and I have been having issues with outlook. It would be nice if there was an integration with Gmail.

A very positive experience. After dealing with another practice management suite from one of the large, uncaring legal publishing companies, it is a breath of fresh air to be able to work with people who are responsive to and care about our needs and how we work rather than how they want to force us to work.
Being able to corral the mountains of emails and documents that pass back and forth in a legal transaction is great.
At times, the online nature of the software means you are waiting a few heartbeats for a page to load up. It is not unbearable.
