Optimizely

Website optimization platform with A/B & multivariate tests

4.75/5 (20 reviews)
8,092     25,638

The Optimizely platform provides businesses with the ability to conduct A/B testing, multivariate and multipage testing for data-driven decision making.

A/B testing - Optimizely's specialism - is a method used to test changes to a webpage against its current design, in order to determine which is more successful with visitors in increasing leads, revenue, donations, registrations, downloads and user-generated content.

Test two different versions of a web page in order to determine which one better meets your objectives. By running version 'A' and version 'B' at the same time and then funneling visitors to different versions of the same page, you can see which one is more successful and continue running with it.

Easiest A/B Testing Platform Out There

I have been using Optimizely for over 2 years now. In my previous role I used another testing and targeting tool that was much more complex to use. Optimizely's user interface is intuitive and the statistical algorithms give you confidence in selecting a winner. The best part about Optimizely is ...

 General usage of Optimizely

- The previews often never load - this could just be our network. - Having to routinely click the little shield in the address bar to load the editor is annoying - again I think this is just our network. We're using Optimizely to confirm our improvement hypothesises and our front end/design team ...

Great product

15/02/2017

To get the most value out of the product you will need to invest in managing a test backlog, test plans, and documenting the results of each experiment. Having this information makes my efforts so much more useful and strategic. No one in marketing should be blindly creating content.

Wish We Could Run A/B Tests Because Optimizely Is So Easy To Use!

25/01/2017

Confession: we do not have enough traffic to run statistically significant A/B tests. I wish, though! We have played around with Optimizely and find the interface extremely easy to use, navigate, etc. There's a low learning curve, which is encouraging. You do not have to know "how to code" to be able to set up a test.

Pros

Low learning curve (easy to use right off the bat) You don't need to know how to code You can see how your pages will look before you make the test live

Great for quick testing

19/01/2017

Optimizely is easy to test basic stuff, like simple image changes and type colours and sizes. It gets a bit tricky the bigger your changes become as well as visible content flashing. Experiment CSS/JS is great solution for this but it would be even better if you could limit these to only certain variations. Otherwise a good product.

Great product for mid to large sized web businesses

10/01/2017

Optimizely is very easy to implement, and anyone can start experimenting with the product. To get the most value out of the product you will need to invest in managing a test backlog, test plans, and documenting the results of each experiment. It also helps to have someone with strong front-end development and JS skills to implement experiments as it opens up the capabilities of the product dramatically.

Pros

Easy to set up, easy to use, good professional support services available

Cons

Hard to get to all the functionality without investing development resources

Recommendations to others considering Optimizely

You probably need a larger package than you think to get meaningful results for a number of experiments each month. Small sites will not have enough traffic to get useful data out of the product.

Used this on a free basis - It's amazing!

15/12/2016

I've used Optimizely in their free account, and I can't believe how powerful the software is. I was able to replace content on my site for half of the visitors, finding out that an old call to action was actually more effective than a new one we'd replaced it with - by 33% over a 10,000 visitors test. Having this information makes my efforts so much more useful and strategic. No one in marketing should be blindly creating content.

Great Testing platform.

11/11/2016

Have been using Optimizely for a year and love the WYSIWYG editor (which works great 90% of the time - but can be glitchy on design details).

Pros

Easy of use and ability to test before implementing site changes

Cons

Support was great during on-boarding process but account management could use some work.
