BI & dashboard software for multiple, large data sets

4.62/5 (92 reviews)

Behind Sisense's drag-and-drop user interface and eye-grabbing visualization options lies a technology that forever changes the world of business analytics software. By removing limitations to data size and performance imposed by in-memory and relational databases, Sisense enables any business to deliver interactive terabyte-scale analytics to thousands of users within hours.

Sisense’s unique end-user tools enable non-technical users to perform tasks that once required support from a team of database admins, engineers, and data scientists. Data mash-ups, interactive browser-based dashboards, and ad-hoc analysis of high-volume data are all done with a user-friendly interface that anyone can learn and requires no programming skills.

Sisense is the only solution that can be set up and used entirely in-house! Avoid outrageous implementation fees and never-ending outsourcing costs by using your internal resources efficiently. Even with huge data volumes and concurrent users, Sisense can handle data at scale on a single commodity server. Finally, a solution that lets you avoid the high costs of data warehousing, OLAP cubes, or clustered solutions.

And the best part is that you can do it yourself, without a battery of consultants or IT professionals being involved in every step of the way.

By utilizing modern database technology was built for modern 64-bit hardware and latest CPU architectures from the ground up, Sisense delivers as-fast or faster performance than in-memory solutions, without hitting the wall with data volumes or concurrent usage. Sisense utilizes disk, RAM and CPU so efficiently, that it enables a single commodity server to crunch terabytes of data on inexpensive hardware, and serve a large number of concurrent users!

Sisense's cutting-edge technology means that a single commodity machine can be used for terabyte scale analytics and to serve multiple users concurrently. Sisense taps into the true processing potential of today's 64-bit computer, multi-core CPUs and parallelization capabilities, enabling a single commodity server to deliver the same data processing power as a cluster made up of 10 individual nodes, making it a snap to set-up and deploy without any prior expertise in big data analytics implementations.

GetApp Analysis

Sisense serves as the Robin Hood of the business intelligence (BI) world. The dashboard software brings data justice to its users, enabling companies of all sizes to have access to the same information that large corporations with endless resources have relied upon for years.

Using Sisense’s business analytics software, businesses across all industries and verticals can better understand their data and make more informed business decisions. The product allows both data professionals and non-techies to join, analyze, and visualize big data sets. Sisense differentiates itself from competitors in the marketplace by putting data into the hands of everyone, as opposed to just large companies with deep pockets.

What is Sisense?

A business intelligence tool built for users with all levels of technical skill, Sisense gives corporate leaders a way to better visualize data from multiple sources within a single repository. The solution is designed in a way that is very user friendly, which means professionals can utilize the tools that Sisense provides, and begin uncovering data insights, without having to ask their IT departments for help.

Sisense benefits its users by providing all the tools they need for joining, analyzing, and visualizing multiple big data sets, complete with front-end tools for visualizations and back-end tools for management. The solution has an especially short implementation time, as there are no lengthy customization or data warehouse projects that users need to complete before they can begin.

Main Features

Unifying Data

Sisense takes data from multiple sources into account, and unifies that data into centralized dashboards. The solution provides users of all technical skill levels with tools they can use to combine data into single repositories.

To begin combining large data sets from multiple sources into a single dashboard, you just need to drag-and-drop that data into Sisense’s platform. Using Sisense’s built-in connectors, you can join data sources and formats including Excel, Google AdWords and Analytics, information from your CRM, and any other organizational databases your company uses.

Building Dashboards

Interactive dashboards are designed by users with dashboard widgets. Using these widgets, Sisense enables users to select the best visualizations of their data. A few of the visualization types that users can choose from include geographical maps, gauges to measure KPIs, line charts, scatter plots, and pie charts.

Once your data has been dragged-and-dropped into the platform, begin designing your dashboard based on your own unique needs and preferences. Select the widgets you want and place each of those widgets in the precise page location that makes the most sense for your needs. Individual dashboards can hold many widgets and filters. You can add or remove these widgets and filters with a single click.

Visualizing Data

Detailed data visualizations provide companies with the insights they need when making strategic decisions. With Sisense’s data visualization toolset, businesses are able to generate dynamic visuals and interactive business intelligence reports. Users can change their queries by clicking on any section of a graph or chart, and they can drill down to see underlying reports when reviewing the impact that small details are having on the bottom line.

Data visualization tools allow you to graphically represent the data you’ve collected with charts, rather than number-heavy lists. Because Sisense is self-service, you’re able to visualize your data and create meaningful reports on your own, without relying on an IT department for support. Sisense also formats your data correctly, ensuring that it’s ready for whichever type of visualization you select.

Sharing Insights

What use is a business intelligence solution if users can’t share it with key decision makers within their organizations? Sisense offers extensive sharing tools, enabling users to quickly share interactive dashboards with colleagues and build upon existing reports by adding additional information.

Live connections ensure that you and your colleagues are able to monitor your dashboards in real-time. With Sisense, you can even set up alerts to notify you when certain events have occurred. As an admin, you have the option to allow varying levels of access to specific users within your organization. You can also play interactive dashboards through your mobile devices.

Integrations

Sisense allows users to join data from any source into integrative dashboards. The solution uses built-in connectors to join present and future data. Sisense connectors include file types such as MS Excel, CSV, and MS Access, along with applications such as Salesforce, Zendesk, QuickBase, Google AdWords, Google Analytics, Google Spreadsheets, Amazon Redshift, and Heroku Postg. Connectors also include many database servers, big data sources, and custom data sources.

Pricing

Sisense offers individual quotes after understanding each client’s needs and intended use of the product. Pricing is based on the number of concurrent users required, volumes of data being processed, and other individual factors.

Bottom Line

  • Data analysis and visualization tools for both data professionals and non-techies
  • Helps businesses in all industries and verticals make sense of large volumes of data
  • Short implementation time enables users to get started quickly
  • Built for businesses of all sizes
  • Provides front-end tools to visualize data and back-end tools to manage data

Customer review of Sisense

09/03/2017

We purchased the Sisense Dashboard application about 8 months. My company provides Broadband Service Assurance Solutions to companies all over the world. The product and services provided in many ways are customized to a particular market based on their specific needs and network. However one common theme in all markets is improving testability which is measuring the accuracy at which measurements and analysis are performed. The Sisense Dashboard application was chosen as it provides a comprehensive set of tools allowing implementation of customer specific dashboards in a short period of time. The people at Sisense are extremely knowledgeable about their product and are always willing to assist. I have had the pleasure to work with many individuals within Sisense and have many productive meeting and conversations with Alex Rich, the Tollgrade Customer Success Manager.

Pros

There are so many options and capabilities with the dashboard application that I see over time being able to enhance what I deliver to the different markets. This is important to keeping customers engaged.

Cons

Customer service trouble tracking is sometimes difficult to keep up with; tickets are closed before having an opportunity to look at suggested resolution.

Cons

When you start paying for licenses on a 'seat' basis your costs jump up quickly.

Sisense for IT

28/12/2016

Sisense is a great tool that comes with many hidden gems. It's perfect for IT departments that want to empower their users to be more educated about their data and help their user to make data-driven decisions. With the abundance of data connectors, intuitive and powerful data mapping GUI and easy to use dashboards for both technical and non-technical user, Sisense is a great choice to serve as your data and BI back-end.

Pros

Powerful data-mapping GUI with great support for custom SQL and pre/post build plugins/scripts. Intuitive dashboards for non-techies and tech-savvy users. Dashboards support customisable plugins (with strong community support) and scripts to satisfy the power users. Great API support for automation. Solid technical support to help you with any technical challenges. Access to features request. Speedy delivery of new and useful functionality to increase the value of the product over time.

Cons

The new features can't come soon enough, but the roadmap looks solid and promises to deliver lots of goodies. The API documentation could be improved, some more advanced functionality is not as clear as it could be, but there is always tech support to compensate for that.

Big data for ordinary people.

27/12/2016

I'm a product manager, not a data scientist or linux guru. I needed a means of developing business analytics tools quickly that would meet my customers' needs. Sisense provides a platform for ETL, and web-based dashboard design that works really well.

Pros

High speed data analytics. Simple ETL. Reasonably simple dashboard design.

Cons

Somewhat inflexible in design choices. A Sisense dashboard is fairly easy to spot even if white labeled.

I was new to SQL and B.I in general. But, Sisense is very User friendly, making it easy to learn and start producing dashboard rather quickly. I am often asked to run reports through Sisense as general queries will choke SQL servers. But Sisense makes quick work of them. Great product!!
