William W.: Hey, my name is William. I'm an account executive. I would give Employment Hero a rating of three out of five. For more reviews, click the link below. So I use Employment Hero as a user to access my payroll. I use the benefits program, the discounts program as well, as well as managing all my HR information. So things like address, phone number, email address and the like for our HR department at work. So I've used, I mean, a number of different types of HR software over my career. In the past, it's been quite limited, right? You access your payroll. You get told how much you're getting paid and you get told when you're getting paid and you tell them where they're paying it to and that's fine. The thing I really like about in Employment Hero is it gives the user a lot more kind of benefits, for lack of a better term, in that you get your discounts, you get actual benefits. They've got the hero awards program and the like. So whereas my experience is most HR software is very driven towards the administrator and the company, Employment Hero feels like they build products for the user. So the thing that kind of makes Employment Hero so good is all of its utility. But unfortunately, I think that's also the reason it is challenging to use, which is you log into your dashboard and there's a lot of tools, a lot of areas you can access. There's a lot of utility to it. So if you want to go in and do something really basic, like you change bank account, want to update your bank details for your HR team, it can feel like it's actually really difficult to find where to put that information. So some of the things that are highlighted in that UX are areas like the hero awards program, their benefits program, which is wonderful, but it can feel like the basics of what you need from a payroll HR program are actually really difficult to find.

David: My name's David. I'm an HR Manager and I give Employment Hero a five out of five. For more reviews, click below. So before using Employment Hero, we were using MYOB with paper based time sheets and leave applications and that really wasn't working for us. When we looked at Employment Hero, we also looked at ADP, PeopleKey, and WhosOnLocation, but we preferred Employment Hero over the others because it had both integrated payroll and HR. It was ISO 27001 certified, which was very important for us in terms of data protection. We liked the fact that there was a per unit price per employee, so you understood your fixed cost with each additional employee. And the other thing I really liked about Employment Hero was it was strong on supported integration. It was really easy to get started with Employment Hero. They provide a lot of on demand webinars for each module that you have to introduce. They also have live Q and A sessions that you can join to ask specific questions and there's a large suite of online documents that you can access to help troubleshoot any issues. In terms of using Employment Hero and getting started, one of the things that I found really helped was making sure that you understand your relevant legislation, or awards, or anything else pertinent to your business. I found it very helpful to follow the suggested integration process using the webinars and the live Q and A sessions. It was also important for me that we didn't try to implement everything at once. We used a scaled implementation process and introduced things once we had the system up and running. The other great thing about Employment Hero was that we were able to play in their sandbox and trial the system before we put it into play.

A huge waste of my time and resources! went through all this ridiculous training (4-6 weeks of module after module and calls etc) on the system only for most of it to not even work or be used. We're cancelling the product and now having to look for a new payroll system because they've ruined keypay since they took ownership too.
I liked the idea that our onboarding could be hosted in one place and seemlessly integrated with our payroll platform.
I hate that it reverts to obsolete settings and constantly messes with the payroll integration. We've actually had to turn it off. The help desk is worse than useless. their 2fa is buggy and you can't get hold of anyone when you need to. Employees don't like to be told that their pay can't be processed because we've lost access to the program and no one will either restore it or call us back.

Despite making repeated attempts to address the ongoing issue through email since October, unfortunately, a resolution has not been reached. It's worth noting that, during this period, the company continued to accept our payments despite our non utilisation of their platform even though EH had previously confirmed that they would discontinue these charges. While we have sought reimbursement for the funds, our requests have gone unanswered, adding to the frustration. A more responsive approach and transparent communication would greatly enhance our overall experience and confidence in the company's services.
Absolutely nothing! They promised us a service so we could sign the contract and we later found they actually don't have that service in place. Over 6 months we have been paying for a service that we cannot use!
The worst customer service I have experienced in my professional career. A service that was over promised and under-delivered. The account manager initially thought to guide us, seemed to provide misleading information, possibly in pursuit of expediting a sale. We've also had to pay about $500 for the EH Payroll subscription, but we've lost more time/money on our internal resources trying to figure this all out.

We will be cancelling our contract and looking for a different app. Overall a really frustrating experience, made even more frustrating by the fact I reached out to them with this feedback and just never heard back. For the absolutely outrageously high price it costs it isn't worth it, and there are many other apps out there for cheaper.
It sounds great on paper, but it is far from it.
It is lengthy and difficult to set up, the customer service team takes an average of 3 days to get back to you with answers to any questions you might have, the rostering system is clunky, the app doesn't work for staff, managers can't update rosters via the app and need to log on to a desktop.

Mixed. The role out of SWAG was difficult as employees got confused between HR and payroll. Also payroll did not set up our employees in SWAG properly.

Relatively good, great concept, aesthetic user interface, clunky functions here and there, setup support for payroll is not helpful.
One place to store everything HR, keeps everything quick for onboarding and saves time and resources
Setup was painfully long with minimal help especially with payroll. To the point i had to explain things wrong within the system and explain how to fix it. New employees are not forced to complete there induction and policy content to be considered onboarded and can start the job and not have done anything.

Payroll management system and the ability to see all the labour cost at one glace in the dashboard. Love that feature.
Not able to copy and paste an employee's shift to he next day is something that bothers me a lot. Maybe I haven't found this option in the interface yet but having to search hard for something so small is not a great experience.

Amazing support and the developments just keep coming.
Reporting on so many aspects of HR - turnover rates, surveys, 1:1's and the way it easily interfaces with other payroll systems. The recruitment function is so easy and allows multiple people to be involved in each step of the process.

Went through a lengthy sales process to get setup with an account. From there it was all downhill. Compared to our current service EH is very complicated and takes 40 days to implement. Unfortunately we're locked into a 12 month contract which we have to continue paying even though we haven't used it for a single day - gave it up 12 days into the setup process.
The sales website is really nice and they make it look great....
The Android app is unusable. Literally couldn't log in no matter what. Check out the reviews on the app store - lots of other users have had the same experience. Backend on the website is very complicated compared to the system we use (that we were going to move from but decided not to). Payroll and HR are advertised as a single solution when in reality there are two separate portals. It's all a bit confusing and convoluted and more expensive than our current platform. There are better platforms out there.

Overall, Employment Hero is a great platform for any small to medium size business to use. The ability to apply self guided implementation to a system that is easy to use is a huge benefit.
Although we utilise both the Payroll and HR Platforms. The Payroll platform is by far the most user friendly payroll platform I have seen and used to date.
The Payroll and HR platforms, although linked, have small discrepancies of information and other features that do not sync and/or match which can sometimes make navigating the platforms or updating information a little difficult.

Employment Hero outsources its payroll platform to Paycat, which operates on a separate database and is not fully integrated with Employment Hero's platform. This means it's important to know which tasks should be performed on each platform to avoid issues. If a problem arises with the payroll, Employment Hero's technical support may not be able to fully assist as they are not familiar with the complex design of Paycat's payroll system. Paycat may also refuse to resolve the issue since you are Employment Hero's customer, not theirs.
Easily create templates and distribute HR-related documents to employees.
Human Resources and Payroll software are two distinct products that result in frustration due to their poor integration with one another.

We effectively use EH as our online HR platform. In this aspect it is spot on with Policies, Compliance, Certifications, HR Docs, Contracts and Onboarding. Very happy to use an Australian company. The guidance templates for HR docs and policies are excellent. Pricing is incredibly efficient. Subscription outsourcing is the now for smart businesses. Payroll Xero integration through EH is much less impressive which is such a shame.
Minor features are missing. Xero payroll functionality is not good enough - actually that's a major issue. How can you not have YTD available on pay slips?? We've had to revert to Xero's My Payroll, so now staff have 2 platforms to manage. Then the smaller but equally frustrating items - You can enter the public holidays that apply to your location but these aren't reflected in the team leave calendar as an identified PH. Why not? You have already identified then surely the data can be pulled into the team calendar. I submitted questions to the helpdesk and in reply got an answer but got told to sign up for an online Q&A session for future queries. I don't have time for an hour and to have to book in time, I should just be able to email off a question and at some point get and answer. There are other minor frustrations but the overall HR functionality probably outweighs the issues, until we find better.

Comprehensive platform with lots of features.
We have found the implementation journey very difficult. Having to rely on email for every question and waiting up to a day for a reply makes the process agonizingly slow and expensive. There have been a few software glitches and we have been told we will hear back, but each time the ball, unfortunately, gets dropped. Suggest that Employment Hero add a well-trained phone support team which will really help their customers. It has been explained to us that it is a cost and scalability issue as a reason EH do not offer ready access to phone support, but this means that they are placing profit above customer experience which will impact referrals and growth in the long run. I hope management take note and make this a software that will have raving fans, because I know we are not alone in our frustrations and current experience.

The biggest problem we have is with support. It is terrible. There is no ticketing (Or maybe we just aren't given our ticket details). Very slow responses or none at all after multiple contact attempts. This just isn't good enough when we are dealing with urgent platform based payrun issues. Also, there is no clear path to support from within the platform. You have to google it. Finally, there is no clear complaints process. Hence this review. Hope you guys at EH get in touch with me.
Easy for staff to use and automates HR and payroll processes quite well.
The interface has been updated (Modernised) but there is no benefit. A waste of time. The platform speed has slowed down since the upgrade and some important features don't work.

The initial implementation was a little labourious, but the implementation team was always on hand to assist with any issues. The software is considerable in functionality so it can be rather noisy. However, once you become familiar with the system, it is packed full of great features.
A broad range of functionality. Easy to navigate interface. Great benefits are available to staff.
You are able to customise the pay week in the Payroll portal but not in the HR portal which means staff are having to complete 2 timesheets per week. This has caused some issues when processing pays.

Zero star experience so far with HR and LMS implementation. Started much later than we clearly said that we needed. Was auto enrolled into hours of webinars with two days notice with no regards for our full calendar and business travel commitments. Am currently considering dropping down to the minimum number of employees to see out my contract and then putting my team in another software solution - and that includes LMS and Payroll. We expected a lot more from conversations on the sales calls. Hasn't lived up to promises in Payroll either. Xero has better payroll system with more functionality and better value. There are much better value LMS systems out there as well. (TalentLMS)
Had potential if it was delivered as promised, the problem is getting it set up has been extremely difficult.
The setup process has been a disappointing experience.

The onboarding team were amazing! Very easy to get along and use the software.
Integration with payroll. API capability. Ability to brand the portal to our own branding. Electronic paperless processes. One stop shop for HR management.
Because we use Keypay already, they have not handle the integration with Keypay well. We are currently having to use Keypay for rostering and payroll. It should be all in the one new system Employment Hero.

We've been using Employment Hero for more than two years now. We started with one entity and then decided to move all our entities to it. The HR and Payroll platforms are very easy to navigate. We very much benefited from the Cost Centre Reporting and integrating that with our Bookkeeping software made our reporting very easy. The HR platform is our employees first point of contact to find any data about our organisation, policies and procedure, agreements... etc. On top of that most of our employees are finding it much easier to track their Leave balances and status through the mobile app. The Online Support is very quick in general and there is always a solution to any query we put through to the team, Overall, a great deal to our organisation!
Most likeable feature we found in the system for our organisation is the easy integration of our Bookkeeping software and the ability to import the payroll journal. That made our cost centre reporting very easy and accurate.
It would be great if it can be linked to the Outlook Calendar!

Versatility - you can use it for data storage, compliance, values base rewards, tender bidding, etc Useful across many internal functions of a business.
would like more customisation areas - however, I am aware this is available more so at higher levels and may change over time in the development of the software.

The set up process is well worth the time invested for the efficiency that follows. All staff have embraced it, with few problems. The system is transparent; all documents can be signed from any location; any additional documents can be added immediately and read and signed off by staff on the same day; it also serves as great filing sytem and has the ability to remind staff of overdue certificates; licences etc.
The program is very time efficient; with staff using timesheets instead of manual timebooks; leave request updating on a calendar automatically once approved etc; quick facilitation of documents between employer and employee. Onboarded new employees is simple. The process from sending out a letter of offer and associated paperwork; to the employee registering without any problem before commencing with us, has been seamless. Other quality feature are reminders for expired certificates and licences; birthdays; probations etc.
Syncing to MYOB AccountRight: Currently RealHR does not sync correctly with MYOB AccountRight due to the rounding of wages. For e.g: Employee 1 gets paid $55000 per annum or $27.834 per hour. (three decimal point rounding) All employees are set up on hourly pay basis as this way personal and holiday leave etc can be entered each week. If I set up employees under Salary pay basis I cannot enter entitlements. Real HR only rounds to two decimal points and then when it syncs with MYOB it throws the annual amount of $55000 out in MYOB due to the difference in rounding and this upsets Employees when they see the change in their annual wage amount on their payslip. Time sheets: I would like to see an extra box that can stipulate if on any particular day whether the day is OTE or annual leave or personal leave or even a mix of OTE; annual leave; personal leave etc. At this stage you can only stipulate this in notes and sometimes it is easily missed.

Good functions and an easy to use platform don't compensate for lack of support or customer service.
Has cut down on our paper trail. It's good having all the HR documents uploaded in one place that can be accessed by employees.
Little to no customer support. All correspondence must be by email which is slow and ineffective. EH changed to a 'pay-for-support' arrangement after our company had already signed up - so the appealing point of difference that made EH stand out is now gone. The platform is expensive and can only be paid for by direct debit - which would be okay if invoicing was accurate and correct. We are now looking at other platforms but it's a bit like deciding you want a different breed of puppy after you've house-trained the first one.

In the past 9 months, we've worked tirelessly to improve our response times and expanding our support resources. We've also introduced a brand new education tool that guides users through the platform, step by step, reducing the reliance on our support team. Employment Hero appears to have taken the Apple approach of starting with the end user in mind and focusing on the customer experience rather than create the technology and people having to adjust to the technology. I like that I have made some suggestions for additional functionality regarding visibility of annual leave calendars over multiple departments which they had taken on board and rolled out in a software update. There was no additional cost to us and then all users get the advantage of the improvements. Like wise, when other users make suggestions that they take on board, we get access to the additional functionality. It is good that there is only one platform of Employment Hero that they need to support.
Very happy with the software. The timeliness of support was slower than expected initially, but I think this is due to growing pains and the rapid growth of Employment Hero.
