User opinions about Slack price and value

Value for money rating:

Of 140 reviews that provide robust commentary on Slack's price and value, 58% mention it in a positive light.

Some reviewers feel that Slack offers good value for money, especially with its free version that includes essential features for team communication. They appreciate that the free plan allows for up to 10,000 messages, 5GB of storage, and integration with various services. Users think the free version is sufficient for small teams and basic needs, but note that the paid plans unlock more advanced features like group video calls, screen sharing, and extended message history, which are crucial for larger teams and more complex workflows. Some users report that the cost of the paid plans can be justified by the additional productivity features and seamless communication it provides.

However, some users say that Slack's pricing can be a drawback, particularly for smaller teams or startups. They find the paid plans expensive and note that the free version's limitations, such as restricted message history and storage, can be frustrating. Reviewers indicate that other similar applications offer more features in their free versions, making Slack's pricing model less competitive. Users think that the need to upgrade to access essential features can pressure them into purchasing the full version, which might not be affordable for everyone. Some users report that the cost per user can add up quickly, making it less viable for larger organizations.

We looked at 23,987 user reviews to identify which products are mentioned as Slack integrations and how users feel about them.

Integration rating: 4.9 (103)

When I have a meeting or event scheduled on my Google Calendar, Slack shows my status as "In a meeting" with a calendar emoji. I love that. I don't need to change my status in slack because it does it for me. It's easy to see when other people on my team/in my company are occupied so I know they won't be able to answer right away because most of us use this integration.

This is the best integration as we rely a lot on our calendar update to keep others informed about our status. Every morning I get the whole list of meetings in slack at one place with an easy option to just click on the options

Google calendar with Zoom extensions + meeting reminder message on slack = best way to show up on time for your meetings. You get your meeting ID delivered right in the slack for you to click and be connected in seconds.

Another must for me. It reminds me of the meetings I have set in my calendar. I often miss my meetings or forget about them. Slack reminds you sharp at that time and you could join your meetings straight from slack.

I get reminders just before meetings are starting, and coworkers can also see if I'm in a meeting scheculed on Gcal just by seeing my name on Slack.

Your photo will get a little calendar icon next to it like a status so people can see if you are busy in a meeting before they message you.

We use Google Calendar with Slack to get quick reminders and event updates right in Slack. It makes staying on top of meetings super easy.

Allows use to integrate with our calendar and be alerted when a meeting or event is upcoming along with updating our slack status.

I can see and access my calls whilst actively discussing issues/projects on slack. In a one click. Very helpful.

Perfect, tells me what meetings I have that day and blocks out my online status whilst in a meeting.

Google Calendar can send you reminders of meetings and invites even when your browser isn't open.

The ability to show others you are in meeting already or away with the integration is great.

To set reminders for meetings and show others that we are not available with the auto icon.

the calendar can be synced with slack to get notifications of the upcoming meets and events

It notifies me of upcoming meetings, lets me RSVP, reject or even schedule meetings.

The Google Drive integration is important because it lets you share, view, and manage files directly within Slack. You can get real-time updates on comments or access requests, preview documents without leaving the app, and keep conversations and fil

The integration with Google Drive was vital for seamless file sharing and collaboration in Slack. It streamlined workflows by providing easy access to documents, enabling quick updates and feedback without switching platforms, enhancing overall team

When sharing a file with a colleague, Slack lets you know if the receiver has the correct privileges to view or edit that file. It also enables you to change those privileges right inside the app.

You can easily see when people have shared or want you to share documents with them. It is nice to keep files and information in one place, versus having to search multiple places

In Google drive we have our database of files for the team, and we communicate through Slack which has third party plugin for Google drive. It works pretty good overall.

I don't need to send google drive links very often so that's why I rated the importance low but when I do, it works as expected so I gave it 5 stars

Slack is where we send files for reference, but Drive is where they are stored. It's essential that Slack and Drive communicate seamlessly.

Simplifies document storage and access by automatically syncing loan files making collaboration and file sharing on Slack effortless

It's just not really necessary, we all have access to team files and we're going to open them outside of Slack anyway.

It is important because it is very comfortable to chat AND have files shareable with 1 click within the same tool.

I utilized the notifications from Google Drive to Slack when I have been given access to an unfamiliar document.

We always send links in the chat. And by connecting Google drive to Slack, we can easily preview the link.

We share links and files all the time. This feature allows us to view files in our own time.

Very excellent and helpful; you’re able to edit access when you share a doc. THATS cool

I was directly able to share files on Google Drive without opening my browser.

Great for collaboration on a file or just sharing big portion of information

I wouldn't say critically needed, but it's available, it make your life easier, it give you track of all the issues on the boards in one place, instead of checking the email inbox

I use Jira and Slack together to receive real-time updates on issues directly in Slack channels, keeping me informed without needing to switch apps.

Lets me share and review documents; it can also signal to someone when a task gets assigned to them. This integration is a lifesaver.

This integration lets development automatically communicate to the entire company that they are making changes to our software.

Our design and engineering teams use Jira and the Slack integration informs the rest of the business of any changes

for issue tracking, it is convenient to use Slack integration with Jira to communicate and know status of the issue

We use Jira with slack to automate and notify people when there have been updates on the ticket

Access to tickets, updates, and reporting works correctly and simplified my everyday reporting

It makes the process very efficient by sending notifications about Jira tickets and changes

Posting Jira links in Slack renders additional levels of detail about the Jira tickets

Discussing development work and tickets to keep all relevant detail in one place.

When you post links in slack it recognizes JIRA and easily allows you to toggle.

Absolutely a must for me. You could just type /zoom on any chat you have and it will automatically create a secure zoom meeting for you. You can directly join it through the chat. It is extremely convenient.

This integration was useful and reduced friction/increased speed of meeting (I probably used it daily while we were in the COVID remote-work era) but is not critical to the value of either tool.

every once in a while, I'm chatting with someone and we agree to jump on a zoom call so it's helpful to be able to send zoom links over Slack

We directly schedule the meet and join the Zoom meet from Slack Dashbaord. I saves our time and makes it easy to track meeting points.

Video conferencing in Slack is inferior to Teams and we require this to be added to make it useable in the same way.

It's not a critical integration because you can always just post a zoom link without it.

Allows us to create logs of user activities using zoom API in a private slack channel

We preffered using zoom for meetings, and the integration worked really well.

Allows me to share pull requests and repositories with detailed previews. It will also signal when a review is requested and when a bug is created. It is all in all extremely useful.

Commits, Pull Requests, and Code Reviews are gathered in one place and users were instantly notified about them.

This integration is important to make Slack as a single place to see updates in our repositories.

We receive notifications about commits, pull requests, issues and other important Github events.

GitHub sends updates on commits and pull requests directly to Slack, keeping me informed.

Because it can help to streamline the development workflow and improve productivity.

Because we can get notified of any changes made, without having to check ourselves.

Love seeing all the notifications in-app without the need to go to the github site!

The Access Control/ Permission in Asana works very fast and secure, that is why the Slack software was rated 4 out of 5 while it's counterpart software (Asana) rated 5 out of 5.

It is very convenient to be able to create and manage task directly in slack and not lose bits of a conversation that create critical next steps.

Asana is the platform we use for events management; we needed Slack to help with communication on teams using Asana.

Useful to have this integration to be alerted and react to asana mentions or updates.

We use Asana to keep track of all day activities in the remote work we do in slack

Typically linking Asana projects or pushing info from Slack to Asana tasks.

We don't need the full Google Workspace integration, but when we share a Google Sheet or Doc, Slack annoyingly let's us know with a distracting message. We're much rather simply have the link.

Our team is fully Google workspace so it’s important to be able to quickly access and share files in our main communication tool.

Since we use other Google apps, it's important to connection Slack for easier dissemination of information.

This is great for not missing anything from HubSpot. Sometimes the notifications are a bit delayed a slow, not sure if that is a HS issue or a Slack issue.

Q. What is Slack used for?

Slack is a workplace communication tool that connects users with the people and tools they work with everyday, no matter where they are or what they do. Teams in Slack work together in channels that can be organized by project, department, office location, or anything else, really. This makes it easy for users to follow the topics that are important to them. Public channels are open to anyone on the team so marketing can see what designers are working on, sales can see what’s on the product team’s roadmap, and new hires can easily get up to speed instead of starting with an empty email inbox. Slack connects to the tools and services that businesses already use and centralizes the notifications, files, and data from hundreds of different applications. This means no more searching through emails for that one follow-up, constantly switching between different tabs and dashboards, or juggling dozens of tools - each with their own login. Slack helps teams work smarter by providing all of the information and context needed to make effective decisions quickly. Everything shared in Slack is automatically indexed and archived so that companies can create a comprehensive knowledge base with zero effort, simply by working in Slack. And, Slack’s search makes it easy find the information users need, whenever they need it.

Q. What are the benefits of using Slack?

Slack surveyed thousands of Team Owners and Admins to see how Slack helps their teams work. The average team using Slack sees:

  • A 32% increase in productivity.

  • A 48.6% reduction in internal email.

  • A 25.1% reduction in meetings.

  • And, 80.4% agree Slack has increased transparency on their team.

These findings have both tangible and intangible benefits for any business. Fewer meetings, reply-all email threads, and lengthy conference calls means teams can work smarter and be more productive. Additionally, this helps teams feel more connected and engaged at work.
