User opinions about Jira price and value

Value for money rating:

Of 121 reviews that provide robust commentary on Jira's price and value, 64% mention it in a positive light.

Some reviewers feel that Jira offers good value for money, especially for small teams and startups, as it provides a free version for up to 10 users. They appreciate the extensive features and customization options available even in the free plan, which helps manage complex projects efficiently. Users think the integration capabilities with other tools and the marketplace of plugins enhance its functionality without significant additional costs. Some reviewers find the pricing competitive and reasonable, considering the robust tracking, automation, and project management features it offers.

However, some users report that Jira can become expensive, particularly for larger teams or when additional plugins and extensions are required. They say the cost can be a barrier for small businesses or startups with limited budgets. Reviewers indicate that the pricing model, which charges per user and for many add-ons, can lead to high expenses. Some users mention that the learning curve and setup complexity can add to the overall cost, as it may require additional resources to manage and maintain. They also note that some essential features are locked behind higher-tier plans or require costly third-party plugins.

Integration rating: 4.6 (296)

Confluence, as a fellow Atlassian tool to JIRA, provides templates for a variety of tasks like Goal Planning, Requirement Gatehring, and Meeting Notes. FOr the Product team at ZS, we have integrated JIRA and Confluence, to create requirements in the JIRA board from Confluence, and present these requirements in a structured format in Confluence using the Requirement Gathering template available in Confluence.

It is excellent for documentation, it can be easily managed, organized, and related to the corresponding tasks and the project in jira, the entire team can access it to consult the project information quickly and in an organized way.

There are brand new processes being created that Confluence helps to lay out and educate users on their uses. Jira helps create the outline for these items and then users can utilize Confluence to flesh out the body of the document.

Enabling moving long descriptions full of requirements from Jira tickets to a proper and linked wiki page, which at the same time, allows to keep track of the involved tasks, is the bidirectional feature for any project manager

Confluence is a great platform where my team create all the knowledge base articles and their integration with Jira allows us to use various Jira macros in confluence through which we can easily call Jira data in confluence.

Confluence is the other half of Jira. What you track in Jira needs to be documented in Confluence. This makes it easy to use both products at the same time for different use cases, but still, they are working together.

First of all, the integration is seamless (with links and tags working just the same in both). Secondly, tehy offer complementary functionality that blends well together - tasks in Jira and documents in Confluence.

We can create documentation for planning and release notes in Confluence and tag/link specific Jira tickets. By doing this we can see the real-time status of those Jira tickets within Confluence.

Very powerful tool completely linked to JIRA, confluence allow some quick links with JIRA possibilities and is a very good tool for taking notes, having follow ups and new graphics possibilities.

We use both Jira and Confluence together, as Atlassian intended. They are a good match. Confluence is in fact, one of my favorite all time products and helps make Jira much more bearable.

we use confluence for our knowledge base and easy integration with Jira allows us to complete tasks quickly with all of the person information at hand and easily and quickly accessible.

It integrates perfectly into the Project level Jira provides. You can have backlog, planning, and documentation in the same place, and very accessible for every member of the team.

Confluence is a great addition in terms of 'Wiki' for your projects. It doesn't integrate much with Jira per say, but it's a must for tracking information and procedures easily.

With some more technically complex documentation, it was great to be able to integrate directly with Confluence to provide the full context of the code or feature.

Confluence provide more indepth view or documentation of each task or project going on. Can be used as a documentation of certain part to be noted down.

it is important because it is possible to track documents on Confluence also on issues. So as not to replicate the same content across multiple parts.

Allows Jira to be only high level while additional details in the form of tables or formatted text can be entered in confluence and linked with jira

Docomentation is writen in Confluence, the rest is done in Jira and with integrating both tools information you need is always just one click away

Integration with confluence made us easy to track all the list of checklists in oneplace like jira and it's also gets noted in the confluence page.

Confluence acts as a knowledge repository aongside management tool JIRA which makes the combination very powerful for overall project management

Slack

Integration rating: 4.7 (169)

Some conversations are started in Slack that then become Jira tickets, which then become part of our product. I'm also able to create a ticket directly from a Slack conversation, which saves a ton of time. I also receive a Slack notification every time an edit or change is made on a ticket that I submitted which allows me to immediate take any necessary action.

Unless you are assigned or tagged in a JIRA ticket, others may not know about ongoing issues or tasks. Having it connected to a Slack channel can help surface more visibility without any manual communication/notifications

Jira can be configured to send notifications about issue updates, comments, and other events directly to a Slack channel, keeping team members informed and up-to-date on project progress.

It's helpful in some workflows to have certain channels notified in Slack so other contributors are aware of how a project is coming along or can pick them up.

Far better for teams that use Slack, as otherwise Jira spams your email (which I no longer check as frequently). Slack however I can see changes at any time.

We can create Jira cards through Slack and share links to Jira cards in Slack easily. Slack is our current internal communication solution

Well, Slack is our main communication gateway. And I don't understand why do we need Jira while Slack is able to handle what Jira can do.

Because in Slack, after pasting a Jira ticket, the people can see the title / description of the ticket - so in small words, ease of use

It was sometimes helpful for moving data we got in Slack to our board, but the integration was limited and the UI was clunky.

As slack is something we use all the time. Getting updates from JIRA on slack itself makes everything quick and efficient

Slack is the first communication application used, so it is much more comfortable to go through it in the first instance.

Critical for the capture of developer’s comments and dialog addressing stories, tasks, etc. and adding them to the item.

Notifications and remote ticket creation are great features to raise the level of collaboration between team members

It makes it easy to share updates with remote colleagues and have extensive conversations beyond the Jira notes.

it gives me quick updates from jira directly, if there are any changes in the ticket i get notified in slack

This allows us to get near real time notifications in the platform we use to communicate amongst the team.

I dont need to login to Jira to check the issue. I can get the info I need just from slack messages.

Notifications and integration into channels are used daily to communicate and reference tickets.

Reminds about tickets and also makes it easy to see everything in a quick overview in Slack

Any update in specific tickets with a specific label, will be updated in a Slack channel.

Bitbucket logo
Bitbucket

Integration rating: 4.7 (127)

bitbucket manages the code itself, jira the tasks, so it's good for them to work together. That said, we need to invest it making it so that deploying will auto-update the jira ticket. We haven't gotten to that yet. I'm sure it's possible.

Integrating with Bitbucket gave us a better overview of the development process. It also streamlined the workflows, especially when it was time for QA and testing.

Changesets can be linked with Jira tickets. This helps us track down what change was committed against which ticket directly from the tasks, and vice versa.

When Bitbucket's version control experience and Jira's project control experience combined it is the perfect development area for every developer.

We use jira as release management tool. With bitbucket integration, it helps us to manage push and commit before relase a package on jira.

Integration helps to track the code development progress of story/feature, Hotfix, Bug fix of a product getting pushed in repository

This automatically links to current builds and pull requests making it seamless to view the status of tasks and their related code

code branching and commits based against a ticket made sure that all commits where tracked and done to our internal standard.

Importance with BITBUCKET alone was sufficient with that found of commenting on core line+ with immediacy on triggered CI/CD

With Bitbucket our team was better equipped to manage version control issues as well as the number of pull requests.

Being able to integrate directly with Bitbucket is crucial for cross-platform ticket tracking and deployments.

Integrating bitbucket provides ease of tracking feature branches and the overall development for that matter.

It helps in managing the repo and code work for each task and see the pull requests in the ticket itself.

For source code linking with JIRA tasks and deeper collaboration between dev and non-dev team members

All of our repos are stored with bitbucket , it helps up to connect the tasks with code changes.

As software developer, this integration with bit bucket helps a lot with tracking the changes.

JIRA allows to easily link PRs to JIRA tickets, facilitating the software development tracking

The features or bug tracking tickets can be linked to particular branch of code in bitbucket

Completes the tracking experience, for instance, linking the task with one or more PRs

integration with bitbucket just works as it's all part of the Atlassian family

For my projects, such a setup would be too complicated. Although I currently don't use it anymore, I would use it again if it linked automatically with tasks if there could be a custom code to link them, and not use the default one.

BitBucket can automatically track PRs raised on GitHub and update the status of tasks/bugs/issues accordingly. It can also keep a track of the CI pipeline and track the success/failure of builds.

The automation between Git branches and Jira tickets lets developers focus on writing and solving tickets rather than moving them from one column to another.

It is more visual and, above all, a more dedicated and easy-to-use software than managing it exclusively through Jira, especially for continuous integration

Depending on the user stories we also develop the automation scripts which are stored in GitHub repository which is well integrated with Jira as well

Integration with Github is a critical part of software management to be able to identify the origin of bugs by going back to previous tickets.

Managing the Jira bug tickets by integrated it with Github, Everytime a issue or pr is closed that respective jira tickets status get changed.

It is important as it provides notification whenever someone pushes codes into github and it automatically sends a notification in Jira.

Integration helps to track the code development progress of story/feature, Hotfix, Bug fix of a product getting pushed in repository

Being able to tie pushes to tasks is incredibly beneficial to our entire workflow and management of projects.

Being able to integrate directly with Github is crucial for cross-platform ticket tracking and deployments.

Github will show the commits that are used for bug fixes, features, and other important features.

Engineers can show pull requests and commits right inside the ticket without any additional work

JIRA allows to easily link PRs to JIRA tickets, facilitating the software development tracking

Linking Jira issues to GitHub pull requests, Viewing GitHub commits and code changes in Jira.

We utilize Microsoft Outlook for all meeting and email needs. Without it, there is no other way to communicate outside of the company.

Receives update you your own email of the progress of your tasks, easier than just having to open Jira everytime. super good!

The integrations allows to sync critical status and activity updates to be visible in the outlook messaging interface.

I don't really use the functions built into the extension, but email notifications fail to come through quite often.

It helps keep a paper trail for all parties involved and it ensures you follow the jira file to completion.

We can email users within our Microsoft 365 environment rather than having to type in users specifically

Outlook integration was extremely important for communication with internal and external stakeholders

Used for syncing repo state with our tickets- however the GitLab deployments sync feature was still in development when we needed it.

Software versioning and project management are really related, since in Jira we also have issues, tasks, and user stories.

Visibility of a specific ticket and its activity in GitLab (branches and merges) is super helpful.

Because the Jira automation bot tracks MR and also allows us to use both tools seamlessly.

We needed a mechanism to track time against Jira tasks. We used a plugin to trigger the time from Jira tasks that get saved in Clockify, and keeps the time logged against the tasks in sync with the time entered through Clockify.

Time tracking is indispensable for managing our development timelines. Would be 5 if the bug fixed on time tracking as mentioned above could be resolved.

It's not something I require, but it allows for tracking of time invested in each issue a lot easier.

This integration between Google workspace and Jira has been really helpful. I get notifications when new issues are created and I can easily add comments or make changes directly from google hangouts or Gmail inbox. It makes my life so productive.

Notifications are sent to user emails - while optional, default is to have changes emailed. Notifies users when task is assigned to them or they are pinged in an issue.

We often have large diagrams or spreadsheets that need to be edited in a location where others on the team and review and make comments on etc.

Jira and Trello are part of the same Atlassian company and this allows for 100% integration between the two tools. the software are very similar to each other but have exclusive features even without the purchase of a subscription and in a free version.

Trello is used more for my immediate team and Jira is used more department-wide.

All our design work is done in Figma so being able to add links and embeds to Jira tickets is critical for us. It works well but sometimes there are authentication issues.

Not personally as useful but I know team members find this integration very useful.

Use it a lot and have seen recent improvements by Zephyr. But in the past had trouble sometimes. However I am yet to see extended features from Zephyr.

Zephyr is where all manual test are written. It tracks Test Plans, Cycles, and the full library of Tests.

in the context of my team it was important because the QAs were already using testrail and they did not have to change tools

TestRail is our repository for the Test Cases, Jira bugs & tickets can be directly linked to the failed cases.

For management and leadership team we need to provide an highlevel status on the product roadmap. For this specific reason the Aha platform was used and also the epics are created in Aha and once approved it will be moved to Jira board as features.

All of our ideas begin in Aha as well as our story maps for accepted projects.

“Support for using a slow website, sometimes it takes too long to access the website, there are still errors in these new features which are very unfortunate because these new features are very useful to facilitate project management and lastly the prices are less competitive”
