It is especially important that your project management software be cognisant of this fact and make it easy to have an overview of all the projects. Asana does this really well. You get to see all the projects you are handling in the side bar. This helps you keep a mental note of all the projects. It also separates each project really nicely which prevents confusion and overlaps. You get to focus on one project at a time and really appreaciate the progress of each project while also keeping the bigger picture in mind.”

User opinions about Asana price and value

Value for money rating:

Of 169 reviews that provide robust commentary on Asana's price and value, 52% mention it in a positive light.

Some reviewers feel that Asana offers good value for money, especially for small businesses and startups. They appreciate the robust free plan, which includes essential features like task management, calendar view, and integrations with other apps. Users think the free version is substantial enough for small teams, allowing them to manage projects effectively without immediate costs. They find the paid plans unlock advanced features like custom fields, timeline view, and advanced reporting, which can be beneficial for larger teams and more complex projects.

However, some users report that the cost of Asana's premium plans can be prohibitive, especially for larger teams or those needing extensive project management capabilities. They mention that essential features like timeline view and custom fields are only available in the paid versions, which can be frustrating. Some reviewers indicate that the pricing structure, which requires purchasing multiple licenses even for small teams, makes it less cost-effective compared to other tools. They also note that the transition from free to paid plans can be steep, and some users feel overcharged or find the premium features not justifying the cost.

“Of course, after enjoying its simple and intuitive user interface and finding Asana an excellent tool for managing tasks and projects, both alone and in a team, the next step is the payment layer, where Asana also helps us, presenting low-cost options that do not suffocate small businesses.”

Slack logo
Slack

Integration rating: 4.7 (118)

We all work remote and have about 200 employees, we need a good internal communication system and Slack has all the extras, we love it. Because we are always using Slack, we are able to see all the updates made in Asana thorough Slack. I know I wouldn't be as on top of things if Asana wasn't linked to Slack.

It is important to me because of the type of job l do. I have to reach out to many for better results. I also make new friends from other countries who have different approach in the tasks and projects l post.

Integration with slack helps breakthrough the clutter of email notifications and brings key comments and assignments to the top of the surface to be actioned.

We've integrated Slack to notify individuals when they are mentioned in a task in Asana. And use it for client onboarding forms, to notify the marketing team.

When requests start from Slack channels, the integration makes it easier for other teams to understand our processes and correctly join the workflow.

We added Slack after using Asana for years; Slack has become our main communication tool with staff, team & volunteers who also use Asana.

Since I deal with multiple clients at the same time, the Slack integration notifies me every time something is updated in Asana.

Reminders and notification through slack channel seamlessles with a contact that appeas as just "Asana" in your contact list.

Slack integration is very important as we use this tool daily and can notify others when relative Asana tasks are updated.

A nice-to-have that would be more useful if there were more filters for the types of tasks that generate notifications.

Slack is used for internal communication. All new requests come from slack and directly tasks can be created for us.

Slack notification from Asana keep me on track all day. We set Asana to set notifications by client to its channel.

The integration with slack was super helpful. Our team members were notified whenever they were mentioned.

Easy to assign and create tasks within a slack conversation so things don't get missed as often.

It's only used for checking reminders, which can anyways be checked directly using Asana.

Being able to see real time updates and create tasks from Slack is a life saver.

Notification. I receive information about the status of everything in one place.

You're notified instantly when there's any move you tasks you collaborate to.

Project correspondence happens outside of Asana, naturally colleagues will send an email. With this integration, I can easily add the email thread to the appropriate relevant task and keep all notes in one place.

I found it hard to get the right integration due to many different profiles and workspaces I use, and I also share an email account at work.

It saves time because you can add the tasks directly from the email and you don't have to open the asana app.

I use the Asana Outlook plugin to create tasks from emails/attach emails to tasks within Asana.

Reference emails and keep track of information without having to recreate it in Asana.

Nice to have to save time when adding details from email, but not mission critical

being able to be notified of changes through email makes things faster at times.

If a reminder is needed. Integrating the tasks to outlook is really helpful.

I love being able to take an email and immediately break it down into tasks

Since file sizes are limited to 100MB per file is important for us to be able to share files with the rest of the team, in average the files that we share are over 100MB, like videos, illustrations and more.

All of my documents are stored in Google Drive and I need quick and easy access to them. Asana integrates so easily with the applications I'm using daily.

We're able to add Google Drive links into Asana tasks to make it easier to keep everything in one convenient location.

Allowed for uploading finished deliverable to Google Drive within the task itself. Super helpful.

We need to be able to link documents from our drive and this integration makes that easier.

It's easy to just provide links but always nice to have a more direct connection.

- It would be helpful if the google calendar integration also included the time of the task completion. It isn't actually practical for the integration without it as you can have 30 tasks with a single deadline which overwhelm the all day calendar restriction.

When I log in to my workspace account my task for the day are already populated in my calendar - giving me a clear focus for the day ahead. My coworkers can also see my availability when scheduling meetings

Google Calendar is the central hub of my personal and business life everything starts here so having a seamless integrations is non-negotiable.

Cutsom triggers, reminders, it's a paid feature to manage past a certain point but nifty even up to then.

Helps us manage our time blocks a d keep up to date with what's ahead day to day, staying efficient.

It posts to teams within Teams and not to like smaller group chats or individuals which would be a nicer feature. We don't really leverage teams within Teams so it doesn't make sense for us to use actively.

By bringing tasks into Teams, conversations, task updates, and file sharing can all happen within the same platform.

To avoid switching among multiple applications. We are able to add tasks and comment from MS Teams.

Our consultants are already in Asana daily, so creating tasks from Teams is a nice to have

Reference messages and keep track of information without having to recreate it in Asana.

Zapier logo
Zapier

Integration rating: 4.5 (22)

The integration makes it easy to create some automation with boards and emails that help keep the team on top of tasks, even when they're not the best about using the platform.

Zapier is a very easy 3rd party app, Asana is listed within Zapier, it's just 2 minutes of effort automation to save so much of our time and human effort.

Nothing really works as expected; it's impossible to really find what you're looking for, and Asana doesn't connect well enough with other platforms.

Because it allowed us to send alerts, and reminders and record the tasks and deliverables in the different workflows.

I wanted to use Zapier to automate tasks within Asana. It was oaky at the job, but not great.

Google workspace has a lot of information, from doc to sheet to presentation, so the fact that you can integrate this to asana makes it easier to share information and still use the features on Asana.

We use this a lot to create tasks that come from emails and even from meeting-summaries. We also connect a lot of files directly in tasks descriptions for easy visibility and access.

More or less the same answer as above - we use google workspace daily and to see Asana notifications there is just another help to keep us on task.

Lastly, we have connected them with Google Workspace due to its feature of attaching files

You can convert an email into a task in a very specific project in just a few clicks.

This has made tracking my time a non issue. Prior to integration, I had to maintain a spreadsheet manually. Harvest allows time tracking with such ease and no fuss. I'm able to track with minimal efffort in order to maximize my efficiency.

Helps easily see as we complete tasks how efficient our time is without having to juggle softwares for reporting and review purposes.

Not yet deep into this but it integrates with time management captured by harvest app which shows potential for our team.

My workflow depends on Gmail integrations. I use Rules. The features are functional but very limited. For example, you cannot include a hyperlink or attachment in an email triggered by a rule.

It's nice to be able to forward emails straight to Asana to create a task, but we don't often use this feature.

Really cool feature, and great for certain instances. A little too cumbersome to use regularly.

Although my team no longer uses Clockify, it was critical for much of my career at the agency I work at. To be able to hit start on it while in a certain task/project in Asana made time tracking very easy.

It's not well integrated since it's just a chrome add-on, but it does implement some good features in regards to what's being worked on.

Integration rating: 4.9 (11)

It helps track the amount of time that you estimate that you spend on a task ahead of time so you can better schedule your work day and also will track the actual time that you spend on a task using a timer you start when you begin the task and stop when you finish so you can keep track of hours spent on certain tasks that you need to then invoice to a client who is having you complete something for them if they are compensating you by the hour and provide documentation of the time spent as well so they feel confident that the time being compensated was spent on their project and they didn't get an overestimation from you. It can also help you better create strategies for how much time you should spend on different tasks so you can better spread out your time. It will also keep time sheets of them total time you spend working on tasks each and each week which can be useful when wanting to have more work-life balance so you know when it's time to wrap up working on business related things until the next day and help better manage every aspect of your personal life on a more balanced level so you are maintaining your health despite working so hard.

I use Everhour to track time spent on different tasks. The integration with Asana allows me to track my time to a specific project.
