However, some reviewers feel that the recurring costs of QuickBooks Online can become expensive over time, especially for small businesses. They indicate that price increases without added features are a significant drawback. Users think the transition from the desktop version to the online subscription model is frustrating due to higher costs and fewer features. “Quickbooks essentially pushes you out of the desktop version to the online, subscription-based model by pricing the Desktop version at a ridiculously high rate and making you pay for an additional yearly subscription, which was a huge frustration, as QBO lacks a lot of the features that the desktop version had.”

Shopify logo
Shopify

Integration rating: 4.3 (28)

I am unsure if this feature was available when my company first started QB but it may have made everting a lot easier if these systems were integrated then. After years running both separate, when we finally did the integration, it made things time consuming and complicated to reconcile inventory, invoices and fees.

I would give this "0" stars. There is no integration. It doesn't touch your inventory. It doesn't create new orders from Shopify orders. The functionality of it was so bad that we disabled even using the connector to Shopify and Quickbooks.

Shopify integration is critical so that sales transactions and customer data can go into Quickbooks for expense and income tracking as well as financial information.

1. Why is the integration with "Shopify" important? 2. Improved Inventory Management 3. Streamlined Operations 4. Simplified Tax Compliance

Because all of our sales are done through Shopify and the ease of transfer from Shopify to QBO has been amazing.

Makes reporting easy for tax season and health of the business, as well as inventory cost management.

More importantly Its POS payment system and we can find reliable sellers too

Gusto is my preferred payroll provider for small business, so the ability to link Gusto is extremely helpful.

Its our payroll tracking tool, so it needs to have accurate information sent over for all finance management.

It's important to have the payroll journal entries come over saving the bookkeeper time and energy.

Gusto is my payroll company by having it integrate it saves me a ton of manual entries

Gusto didn't work very well with Quickbooks for our General Ledger or for PTO accurals

Gusto reports the breakdown for taxes and payroll directly to Quickbooks Online

The QBO Essentials plan does not have classes. Downgrading to this plan from the overpriced PLUS plan breaks bill.com sync. This is an Intuit caused issue, not a Bill.com issue.

BILL.com is an excellent bill-pay software and fairly good receivables software. The integration aspect is absolutely critical to our day-to-day functions in our office.

Most all of our bill pay clients issue payments via BILL. The integration often has errors including a glitch that makes it difficult to pay international vendors

This is our account payable software. The integrations saves a lot of time at the end of the month.

Robust system for paying beings, tracking approvals, and allocating expenses.

I did not implement Dext until years after using QuickBooks Online. I chose Dext because it integrated well with QuickBooks Online.

Streamlining bookkeeping by automation. Detailed documents are embedded directly into QBO which makes reviewing a breeze.

publishing expense reports, matching receipts (sometimes difficulty matching), and publishing invoices pretty simple

Optimizing the rules and OCR makes this almost a 'Payables clerk' by processing images directly into QBO

When I have used Dext it helped receipt attachment be easier. Not using it currently because of cost.

We use Bill Spend & Expense for all employee purchases. The integration allows all transactions to be automatically imported into Quickbooks after they have been categorized.

We singed up for the Divvy card and integrated with QBO. It works well after setup but the setup can be cumbersome and support is spotty and syncing issues can go unaddressed.

This is our credit card tracking program and our expense reimbursement software. Integration is very important as it saves a lot of time at the end of the month.

We have multiple staff members using their debit cards for purchases. The integration makes it very easy to categorize, and verify receipts.

Divvy tracks our expenses so having a sync makes it easier for bookkeeping.

We use housecall pro several times a day as our job management software, and everything in housecall like invoicing, customer profiles, and paid/unpaid automatically updates seamlessly in our quickbooks. We would not use housecall pro if this wasn’t the case.

We use HouseCall Pro for all of our filed service reporting and invoicing but need the accounting features and invoicing to integrate with QBO. The integration is seemless and we have not encountered any issues since implementing HCP in April 2025.

Our scheduling system that keeps our customer appointment data was able to link right in so our guys in the field can easily pull account information like what the customer owes, especially useful if they try to dispute that.

We joined Ramp this past year to help us with our Credit Card processing. Our previous company was a nightmare. We loved that Ramp was completely free to us because we used QBO so that was a huge offer for us.

We use Ramp for bill pay, and some recurring credit card transactions. Ramp automatically imports everything (including all bills and associated payments) with proper expense accounts and classess associated.

Ramp is our expense reporting software, so it was critical to be able to sync over all expense data.
