Pros and cons

Having a dedicated support manager at Criteria has been clutch in helping me come up with the best assessments for what I'm hiring for--it's great to know I'm not alone.
The easy scheduling system they have to reach out for someone to help is amazing and put the options in your hands.
I love that I can search for a job title and it recommends test banks to use, which saves us time. It is intuitive to use, especially nice for hiring managers that aren't in it all the time.
The lack of integrations. This also can just be specific to be.
All round good experience, concerned that our non first language English speakers seem to do badly on the aptitude testing.
Sometimes it's hard to set up a new test battery when I don't need to do that for a while. I think I finally figured it out for next time though.

Criteria Corp Review

Reviewed 2 months ago

Overall, Criteria has a been a great addition to our hiring process, and now to our team building. Our account manager is amazing and we are very happy with the service!

Pros

Criteria provides so many great insights on candidates, and it has features that let you work with your teams depending on strengths and weaknesses!

Cons

It's a great tool for HR, because it's HR's job to read the reports, but sometimes it can be a lot of information for managers to decipher, so it would be nice to have a more simplified version of results so that managers can read and understand better!

Vendor response

Hi Daysi - thank you for this thoughtful feedback! It's great to hear that you're happy with the insights you're receiving on your candidates, and thank you for the feedback on the results for managers, we will keep this in mind for future updates. Thank you for being a Criteria customer!

Has significantly helped to streamline our hiring process

Reviewed 7 months ago

Overall positive and satisfied with the solution. The rate increases have been a bit annoying.

Pros

Makes hiring easier for me (although I do this infrequently)

Cons

The price is fairly high. There are competitive products at a lower price point. The price seems to be increasing exponentially which makes me think twice on every renewal period whether it is worth renewing or not.

Vendor response

Hi Ty, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're so happy to hear that Criteria has significantly streamlined your hiring process. We understand your concerns regarding pricing, and we appreciate your loyalty and feedback. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we continuously strive to provide value while considering pricing adjustments. We're grateful for your support and look forward to continuing to support your hiring needs effectively. Thank you for choosing Criteria.

Customer service has been outstanding. Representatives are very responsive.

Pros

Online skills testing and one-way interviews help us to narrow down our applicant pool. This system is fairly easy to set-up and is user friendly.

Cons

We needed the ability to do some additional customizations that are not yet available.

Vendor response

Hi Stephanie, thank you for your feedback. It is wonderful to hear that our skills testing and one-way interviews have helped streamline your applicant pool. Your feedback on customization is noted, and we're continuously working to enhance our offerings. We're delighted that our customer service has positively impacted your experience. We appreciate your insights and are committed to providing valuable solutions for your hiring needs. Thank you for choosing Criteria!

Criteria is a valuable tool for my team

Reviewed 8 months ago

I love learning about new applications and have really enjoyed getting to know Criteria. There are so many functions available and I look forward to continuing to use the product.

Pros

Criteria was easy to learn in my new position and the customer support from [sensitive content hidden] was amazing. She checks in often and answers any questions my team has very quickly. There are test templates that can be used or you can create your own to suit your company's needs. This was very helpful to my HR team, as our company recruits for so many different positions.

Cons

When creating a test, some of the steps seem redundant but it's important that they're done so that the tests work properly.

Vendor response

Thank you for sharing your experience with Criteria! We are happy to hear that our platform has been a valuable tool for your team and that you found it easy to learn in your new role. We greatly appreciate your positive feedback regarding our customer support team. We are delighted to hear that your Customer Success Manager has been attentive and responsive to your team's needs. It's also fantastic...

Great Idea, Too Expensive for Results

Reviewed 8 months ago

Very positive experience with the implementation team and the customer support is pretty good. However, aside from the IO psychologist partnership, it's a lot of the same testing other services offer for a higher price.

Pros

If you get time with an IO psychologist, it's super helpful to review your data and see how well the tests are actually impacting your hiring quality, ramp time, etc. However, I think this is key differentiator for Criteria, so this should be included in every package.

Cons

Everything is guess work for at least 6 months to get initial data, and you can't get quality of hire insights for about a year. It takes a full contract just to be able to get the data to see if it's helping your organization, so you have to renew to finish - then if you didn't see impact, it's too late!

Vendor response

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We appreciate your insights and are committed to continuously improving our services to better meet your needs. We are glad to hear that you found the opportunity to review your data with an IO psychologist helpful in understanding the impact of our tests on your hiring quality and ramp time. Your suggestion to include this as a standard...

Pros

Ease of use - Scoring is easily understood. Tons of support material in order to better understand the results.

Criteria Review

Reviewed 8 months ago

I've had a great experience so far with Criteria. The platform is easy to use and understand. We have had very good results in our hiring since using Criteria.

Pros

Criteria is easy. It's easy to set-up and administer. It is also easy to understand the breakdown of the results analysis.

Cons

The only thing I don't like about Criteria is not being able to review the assessments before creating one for a job. The only way to know what questions are in an assessment is to take the assessment yourself and I don't want to take every assessment I create for each job.

Vendor response

Hi Onita, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and review! We're delighted that you find Criteria easy to set up and administer, as well as appreciate the breakdown of the results analysis. Great hiring tool

Reviewed a year ago
Pros

The skills and personality assessments are critical in our job searches. We have found that if candidates don't take the time to complete the assessments they're not really that interested in the job. It's also helped us weed out people who are not detail oriented when we find they didn't really follow instructions.

Cons

I would love to see more skills tests in the areas of IT troubleshooting.

Criteria has allowed us a great tool to qualify candidates to progress through or be removed from our hiring process.

Pros

Consistent and easy to use. Provides us a good method to reduce the amount of candidates in a fair way. The ability to select different tests for different jobs. And, the ability to create our own tests to use for promotional purposes.

Cons

There are so many features. Sometimes you have to drill down a few menus to get to some of the details.

User-friendly Reporting!

Reviewed 3 years ago

We are able to narrow down our applicant pool by focusing on the skills and traits that are most important to our company.

Pros

I like how easy it is to read the test results reports and share them with others.

Cons

Maybe that there is not an application-only feature. The Rep had to help us with a work around so that applicants did not have to complete the tests if we were only seeking an application. The application within Criteria Corp replaced our paper application.

Criteria's Pros & Cons

Reviewed 3 years ago

Overall this has been a fantastic platform to use. Our account rep has been awesome when we have questions. They even have a self-service option which is a huge help when working off hours. Testing has been consistent and easy to implement into our recruiting platforms. Would highly recommend this platform to other users.

Pros

I really appreciate the ease of use the entire platform provides our company. The different tests/scores that are provided for our industry have proven themselves accurate and consistent with our hires. This platform and its ability to drill down to each applicants personality helps save time and provides more understanding and areas that we as the hiring team should drill down to.

Cons

My least favorite thing about this platform is the grading on the personality assessment. Sometimes we can get results that are "inconclusive" or provide red flags, and what we have found is that this generally comes down to language barriers. People who are not originally from the USA trying to take a test that uses vague questions can prove to be problematic.

There are a few things that could be easier to find but once you learn how to navigate its fine.

Excellent Product

Reviewed 4 years ago

With Hireselect we were able to recruit candidates that would work well in our work environment and culture. This has helped our turnover rate go from 75% to 25% in one year. We found a way to use the pre-screening tests to help us select candidates who have excellent work ethic and are eager to grow with the company. We ended up testing our entire staff to come up with a baseline to use for our hiring process. It worked out well and for the first time in 10 years, we have been able to retain employees for more that 2 years at a time. This was a major development for us.

Pros

The software is very user friendly and easy to manage as an administrator.

Cons

Not easily integrated or have the ability to customized some features.

I have no complaints!

Pros

HireSelect is very intuitive and easy to use. I had used HS with a former employer and as soon as I had room in the budget, I implemented the product for my new company. I use the testing, the ATS feature, and the calendar to schedule interviews. Customer Support is top notch and [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] is always quick to help.

Cons

I wish it would integrate more holistically with BambooHR so I could use the feature seamlessly. Other than that, it works great.

How to take the sting out of recruiting!

Reviewed 4 years ago

HireSelect keeps improving by giving employers a better way to drill down on an applicant's potential value for employers.

Pros

When hiring for different positions, you need applicants with varying skills. HireSelect provides a way to test applicants on their aptitude for whatever job you need to fill. By using these services, you can be far more productive in selecting applicants to interview based on their knowledge, aptitude, and fit for your organization. HireSelect is a time saver on steroids!

Cons

There is nothing to not like and profit from by using HireSelect! If you hit a snag, their support services are among the best I've encountered with any vendor.

Especially Great for High Volume/High Value Hires

Reviewed 4 years ago

Our Customer Success Mgr, [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN], provided exceptional support during setup and implementation and continues to do so with regular check ins and prompt responses to any inquiries. Recent updates to the assessment summaries make it even easier to read and interpret each candidate's results.

Pros

The deep dive detail the summaries offer for each assessment really allows you to assess a candidate's strengths and weaknesses at a glance. It provides useful info to deep dive into for a follow up interview.

Cons

Customizing your own 'batteries' when creating your assessment package could be a little easier to arrive to. However, once you've gone through the process a few times, it gets easier.

Highly Valuable Tool for Recruiting Efforts

Reviewed 4 years ago

We are a small tech company and needed a fairly broad tool we could use to support our recruiting efforts. We like HireSelect for the ease of use and the breadth of job titles it supports. We feel like the cost supports the value it brings to our hiring managers, that use this testing as an input into the overall recruiting and selection process.

Pros

I love that I can search for a job title and it recommends test banks to use, which saves us time. It is intuitive to use, especially nice for hiring managers that aren't in it all the time.

Cons

We are investigating the use of it in our UK and Australia offices. Hopefully HireSelect can support our global team.

My two sense

Reviewed 6 years ago

It is a great way to screen people in order to see if we want to take them to the next level in the hiring process. We have learned a lot about the tests from all the applicants and from having our really good loyal employees take the test and then were able to see things that stand out and help our hiring process or Lean it out a bit.

Pros

Simplistic and ask many questions rather than just a few.

Cons

I do not like how on the EPP test in the results it says no position selected. It would be nice to see maybe how long it was taking an applicant to answer question or do the entire test to see if they are just not reading and putting zero thought into their answers or if they are diligently reading and putting thought into each question asked. I think this would help decide if an employee is rushing or is able to take their time, care and answer to the best of their ability. Right now I feel this test is a bit of a waste and does really absolutely nothing for me when there just isn't something more for me to base my decision on a stranger.

Perfect. Our rep has always gone above and beyond and is always accessible for questions or concerns as they arise. Same for the tech team.

Promoter

Reviewed 6 years ago

Hands down I would recommend them to others looking to use the pre-employment software. The product is solid and the customer service can't be beaten.

Pros

HireSelect is a great company. Their software platform is solid and provides an invaluable resource to make hiring decisions with less risk and more insight into a candidate's capabilities and fit. My favorite part of working with them though is their customer service. It is outstanding and above and beyond the level of support I receive from any other vendors I've worked with throughout my career. They are responsive, highly competent, and very willing to make adjustments to the software that better serve our needs as customers.

Cons

They recently rolled out a new platform and there were a few technical issues that were quickly addressed (so that's not actually a problem, but another nod to their support and responsiveness). They do have one issue that they are still addressing which is that their testing services don't always work without error on Explorer or Edge internet browsers. It's a minor issue as we've simply started telling candidates to take it on another browser instead. That's the only reason for me giving them a 4 on quality, otherwise, I'm definitely a huge promoter of HireSelect.

Great tool in the hiring process

Reviewed 6 years ago

The people I've dealt with have all been very helpful and responsive. The site was easy to use and helped save us time and money in our hiring process.

Pros

Using the testing online has helped us to narrow the selection pool of candidates and saved us valuable time that would have been wasted on interviewing less qualified candidates.

Cons

The new upgrades are more complex in my opinion and have more than I need, so makes the site seem more tedious to navigate. The old site was easy and straight forward.

HireSelect helps me screen and find the best applicants to hire.

Reviewed 7 years ago

The typing test and computer proficiency test helps me weed out unqualified candidates quickly and easily. I can also evaluate aptitude with the Criteria Cognitive Test, and I can see a correlation between that score and quality of work.

Pros

The variety of assessments help me choose the best fit for each position. I can evaluate a number of different levels, aptitude, personality, or specific skills.

Cons

If I wanted to integate the results with my ATS, I would need to upgrade to a fancier package. Now, the price is cheap for the service, but I don't know why I would have to upgrade just for an integration.
