I've been a loyal customer of OpsGenie for almost three years now and I like to product so much that I wrote an integration with spring-boot-admin a year ago that now is used by many others.

It's hard to setup rotations and override on calls in some cases. If I removed one person from the team rotation, all the past rotations that were done also got moved and messed up the whole schedule.

Overall my experience has been very good. We use OpsGenie all the time, and it's a critical part of our monitoring stack.

Incident response and monitoring

Our issue was reliably alerting our staff of equipment warnings and outages. OpsGenie gives us the ability to not only send notifications, but see who received them, who responded, and escalate based on a number of factors to make sure that someone, somewhere is getting the alerts.

OpsGenie is more like an Ops Miracle Worker

The only problem we are solving with OpsGenie is reliable delivery of all alerts to our support team. This problem may sound 'easy to do' but in reality is quite complex and OpsGenie delivers perfectly well on this.

Initial setup was a bit scary as I brought this in to replace xMatters at our company.  I was being looked at heavily and I wanted to hit the mark, so the little issues seemed bigger to me.  Within a few weeks not only did we conquer some of those setup issues but tweaked this tool to not just replace but give me and my company a lot more power, control, ease of use, etc than we ever had before while handling escalations, notifications to stakeholders, etc.

Speaker 1:                                             Hi, my name is Philippe. I'm a technical support manager working at Kepler Company, focused on commodities markets. This company is about 200, 300 people right now. Regarding OpsGenie, which is the purpose of this review, I would give it three out of five.
                                                       We are using OpsGenie as our main alerting system for the on call. Wherever we want people to be paged during the night or on weekends, so basically we use OpsGenie for that and it's doing a great job.
                                                       What I like the most about OpsGenie, it's basically the reliability of a system. When we have an alert, I'm 100% sure that people who are configured to get the alert will get the alert on time. This is what is the most important and what I think works the most at OpsGenie.
                                                       On the oversight, what could be improved at OpsGenie is, for me, the most important is VUI. The website is not great. It is slow, and it's very difficult to navigate between the alerts that you received. This is really the main point that could be improved in OpsGenie as far as I'm concerned, because on the other side, the Android application, the iPhone application is great. So it's basically the website, which is slow, not very easy to filter on the alerts. You lose your filters all the time, and you have to redo them. This is really not great.

                                                       So before we used OpsGenie, we had to manually check in for all the alerts and the alarms of high severity whenever needed, which included some high severity alarms even on the weekends. The security engineers on my team had to constantly log back into a screen and keep on monitoring it 24/7. With OpsGenie, things got very easy because whenever there's a high fidelity alarm going on, we get an alert and the on-call engineer gets paged. 
                                                       Some of the reasons that I chose OpsGenie was its active directory integration, the ease of role-based access management and the ease with which we can assign and remove the user specific roles into the OpsGenie application. Apart from that, there's also a very mobile-friendly application from OpsGenie which is available on both Android and on iOS. 
                                                       Getting started with OpsGenie was a cake walk. It was pretty easy to integrate with our active directory environment. Onboarding the users for this application was also pretty useful and pretty easy.
                                                       So one recommendation that I would give OpsGenie would be to allow customizing the logout time for the users. So there are a few users on my team who often get kicked out of their sessions due to inactivity. I believe OpsGenie can customize that, can give their users the ability of customizing that time.
